    • This series of OT-era one-shots is written by Greg Pak and features art by Chris Sprouse (heroes) and Marc Laming (villains) and covers by Terry and Rachel Dodson.

    • Eight character issues and one special will be published over April, May, and June.

    • Amazon US has a Heroes TPB (4 character issues) listed for August 6 and a Villains TPB (4 character issues + Special #1) listed for August 27.

    • Anticipated schedule and released solicitations below:

    April 3: PRINCESS LEIA #1
    BOUNTY HUNTER PRINCESS!
    • With HAN SOLO frozen in carbonite in the palace of JABBA THE HUTT, PRINCESS LEIA prepares for a daring rescue by taking on the identity of the bounty hunter BOUSHH.
    • But in order to succeed, she'll have to prove herself in her new identity to the ruthless bounty hunter BOSSK!
    • With her life and all of her principles on the line, how far will Leia go to rescue a scoundrel?
    • Co-starring CHEWBACCA and LANDO, who almost certainly have a bad feeling about this!

April 10: GRAND MOFF TARKIN #1
THE SOUL OF THE DEATH STAR!
    • The EMPIRE has built the deadliest weapon the galaxy has ever seen.
    • But even the most ruthless Imperial officer might hesitate before unleashing the DEATH STAR's power to kill millions in an instant.
    • Behold the secret story of GRAND MOFF TARKIN, the horrors that honed his resolve and the terrifying steps he takes to ensure that the Death Star lives up to its deadly name!

April 17: AGE OF REBELLION SPECIAL #1
    • Move over, Boba Fett. The most dangerous bounty hunter in the galaxy isn't who you think. The cold, calculating assassin droid IG-88 had a deadly reputation. Wanted criminals should tremble in fear because IG-88 will stop at nothing to get the job done. But where did it come from? What does it want? Perfection might be a good place to start. Si Spurrier (W) and Caspar Wijngaard (A) bring the terrifying droid to life!

    • The destruction of the Order, the death of his friends, exile — no matter what he has endured, YODA will always be a Jedi. Even in hiding on the isolated planet of Dagobah, far from the evil Empire's reach, a Jedi's work is never done. Marc Guggenheim (W) and Andrea Broccardo (A) will pay the wise, old master a visit!

    • The freedom-fighting REBEL ALLIANCE has more than its fair share of heroes — like ace pilots BIGGS DARKLIGHTER and JEK PORKINS. But they've been fighting the evil Galactic Empire for a long time and sometimes, even noble warriors like Biggs and Porkins need a little rest and relaxation. Is anywhere truly free from the trials of the galactic conflict? Jon Adams (W/A) has the answer!

Cover by Giuseppe Camuncoli and Guru-eFX:

    May 1: HAN SOLO #1
    THE SCOUNDREL'S CODE!
    • After helping destroy the DEATH STAR, HAN SOLO's ready to cash in his reward and return to life as a scoundrel.
    • But when LUKE SKYWALKER asks for one last favor, Han gets pulled into a rebel mission that might wreck all of his plans.
    • Co-starring CHEWBACCA and introducing AKKO, an old friend who might actually out-scoundrel Han himself!

    May 8: BOBA FETT #1
    THE HUNTER'S HEART!
    • As the implacable bounty hunter who tracked down HAN SOLO, BOBA FETT earned his reputation as one of the greatest villains in the galaxy.
    • But what happens when Boba Fett picks up the trail of an actual villain?
    • Find out what kind of heart — if any — beats under that MANDALORIAN armor!

    May 15: LANDO CALRISSIAN #1
    CLOUD CITY BLUES!
    • Former smuggler LANDO CALRISSIAN has a beautiful dream: a life of leisure and luxury as the totally legitimate BARON ADMINISTRATOR of CLOUD CITY.
    • All he needs to do is take care of his money troubles with one last, big scam. But what will get in his way the most — his bad luck or this annoying sense of ethics he seems to be developing?
    • Co-starring LOBOT!

No Dodson cover available yet, sorry!

May 22: JABBA THE HUTT #1
    IT'S GREAT TO BE JABBA!
    • Across the galaxy, Imperials, rebels and scoundrels alike speak in hushed tones of JABBA THE HUTT, the greatest gangster in the OUTER RIM.
    • Discover what makes the name of Jabba so feared, in a crime story that stretches from the casinos of CANTO BIGHT to the deserts of TATOOINE!

If you'd like an early look, Marc Laming (villains artist) frequently posts unlettered inks (some a bit spoiler-y, most not) on his Twitter. Here are some from the Tarkin and Boba Fett issues:

Some smart art picks here - Sprouse is great, but not a monthly artist, similarly Laming has done some excellent miniseries work.

There is also a post-ESB book and a FOD short from Leia's pov. I'm just glad we're finally seeing it from someone else's perspective for once.

Regarding the preview for the Vader comic
Is it a new thing that there were more Grand Moffs than just Tarkin? I've always thought it was only him that ever held that rank but I suppose it makes sense that there would be others thinking about it.

There were loads in Legends, and there've already been a fair few in canon. The Tarkin novel specifies Tarkin was just the first Grand Moff.

Thanks for clarifying that for me. I had remembered there definitely being Moffs that promoted themselves to the rank of Grand Moff after Endor in both continuites, but didn't know about there being others when Palpatine was actually still alive.

It was delayed a week, so now it's scheduled for the 10th.

PSA/Plug: While Marvel is usually pretty good at meeting their anticipated release schedule (which is why I risked including it in my OP -- gambled and lost right off the bat!), always check TTT's helpful weekly posts in the References thread for changes and delays.

I get the feeling that FOD short isn't going to be especially related the instant this issue comes out, unfortunately.

I was thinking the issue is set very soon after the FoD short, with Leia in the same outfit and hairstyle, reviewing the weapons taken from Boushh, then suiting up for the first time to rescue Lando from the bounty hunters (and having to maintain the guise when Bossk catches up to them, going by the solicitation). But yeah, I would not be surprised if I'm totally wrong and/or this issue supersedes some or all of the short.

Could be a ruse and it's really Leia in the disguise already, but it seems a bit forced, especially as she's on the comlink to Lando while he's being chased, and it doesn't seem like there's much need to actually fight him. But who knows.

Let's not forget there's some leeway with FOD, since we have a possibly unreliable narrator in the form of Maz.

And that's if there's an inconsistency, so might be a moot point.

Sure, I'd just rather there not be any need for leeway, considering the FOD short's been out long enough for the comic to at least be aware of it.

But yes, we don't know if there's an inconsistency yet.

I thought the Leia issue was good but found it somewhat hard to follow.

I really liked the Tarkin issue, I love the consistency of his characterization and backstory in the new canon.

Two things about the Tarkin issue:

Tenn Graneet is officially non-canon. He was my favorite character in Death Star.

If Tarkin spaced all the gunners after Alderaan, who was manning the boards when they were about to blow up Yavin IV?
