Yeah, I'm confused about the timeline. Given what we know from the Captain Marvel post-credit scene it appears the film starts soon after the events of IW. They're counting all of those lost and Natasha still has blond hair. Then Captain Marvel shows up and convinces them to confront Thanos on his sanctuary world. Tony and Nebula have made it back to earth by then because Nebula is in the shareholder's footage telling the group she knows where Thanos is and they use the Benatar to get to his planet.

But then there's a time jump it appears based on the state we see many earth cities are in and the fact that Natasha's hair color is growing out. So do they face Thanos and lose again and go back to earth or what? When does the Quantum Realm stuff come into the equation?

I think they do go off to take on Thanos again early on after Tony and Nebula make it back. I think the reason Tony isn't with them is hinted at in his line "It's not about what we lost, it's about what we still have.". That's him saying he's done. He made it back after thinking he might die in space, Pepper is still alive, so he's going to make the most of his life in the world that is left. And yeah I think the others fail, either by being beaten yet again by Thanos or finding out the Gauntlet doesn't even function anymore, and least not fully.

As for the Quantum Realm I think Scott may not come back from there until well into the movie. What he learns there is what opens a new possibility to Tony of how to get back what was lost as opposed to just avenging it. Especially if the Gauntlet is kaput. That is where the dive into the QR takes place, after Tony figures out the tech that is needed.

That sounds about right. Actually I wonder if they succeed in killing Thanos instead of losing again. It would be unexpected but he is weakened after using the Infinity Gauntlet and being stabbed by Thor and the Avengers have Captain Marvel now.

But like you said the Infinity Gauntlet doesn't work anymore and they return home dejected that all they accomplished was killing a weakened Thanos. Then Scott shows up.

If they kill Thanos and take the Infinity Gauntlet then perhaps traveling through time is about collecting the energies of each stone at points in time before Thanos collected them all so that they can reenergize the Infinity Gauntlet or something.

I do think that is actually what all of the business in QR will end up being about; trying to collect some energy from each Infinity Stone for a one-shot or limited use Gauntlet that they themselves build. I've always thought that the devices that have been seen on their hands that everyone has speculated about for so long now is a sample of the element that Tony created to power his upgraded arc reactors. They look very similar to the housing for it and we know it can absorb energy from the first Avengers movie (it soaked up Thor's lightning and I think it was what really prevented Loki's staff from working on Tony). They can't just go around gathering up the stones before Thanos gets them. That would change way too much that they will want to preserve.

I like the sound of all of this and I think it's very plausible. I'm guessing some Avengers stay behind to protect the QR tunnel and Thanos' army launches an attack to destroy it. We haven't seen Thor in a QR suit (I don't think) so I'm guessing after they confront Thanos (especially if they end up killing him there) he goes off to find the Asgardian survivors. Then like Gandalf in TTT he returns with Valkyrie and and an Asgardian army to help defeat Thanos' army.

Maybe the Wakandans show up too.

Only problem is how do they get the energy from the soul stone? Maybe that's what it all comes down to. They have to lure Thanos to earth and confront him one last time because they can only get the energy from the soul stone in the present.

Not watching the new trailer. Don't know if there's anything in it worth avoiding, but better safe than sorry. Got tickets for Thursday night - signed up for AMC A-List, so I can justify seeing it in 3-D.

I think it is to be avoided as I started to watch it and saw...

Rocket and Nebula taking each other's hand in friendship

...and decided that was a character development spoiler I didn't want and stopped right there.

In the trailers so far, no we haven't

There is one time other than the snap itself that Thanos used the Soul Stone during IW; when he shut down Doctor Strange's Images of Ikonn spell, forcing all the copies of himself back into his body. I don't know if there could even be a way to capture some then. Maybe when he was incapacitated during the fight on Titan?

No sooner than I finalized order for my morning ticket, friend tells me she has that day off (which she neglected to bring up yesterday ), so I cancelled morning show and bought 2 tix for 1 pm screening at the same theater.

At @dp4m, theater layout chaos was probably what happened with the AMC I was trying to log into. Now if supervisor approves my working in the morning,I am good to go. If not, whatever.

Wondering if I should go see Hellboy on the 12th?

If you both want, I have two tix for the 2:30 IMAX 3D that we'll likely end up not using (we hedged our bets). I also have 3 tickets to the 3 pm Dolby Cinema screen that we'll likely use.

Well, that was a whole mess now, wasn't it? Went on at 8am sharp but AMC app kept timing out and eventually locked my A-List login for too many attempts, but since AMC's servers were being blasted they couldn't send out password reset e-mails or accept/process the rare one that got sent out.

While doing that I kept reloading the AMC site directly but kept getting errors. Twice I managed to get through to seat selection (in my preferred row with decent seats at that!) but couldn't get through to checkout.

While doing that I loaded up Fandango and got ito the "more than hour" wait line and just let my phone run while I was at work. With 32 min left to go, AMC's entire site crashed (not just slow or giving errors, but web browsers literally could not find the server) and that's when the Fandango line became:

AMC didn't get their system up and running again until 1PM when the Fandango line resumed and accelerated the countdown within a few minutes. And, so, five freaking hours after I first logged into to buy tickets online, I got through.

The only reason I held out was that, i figured, if AMC was down like this it meant no one could but AMC tickets anywhere except maybe directly at the theater or during that first hour or two before the line pause hit.

So, yes, I managed to get tickets for IMAX 2D at Lincoln Square for Friday at 6:30- the showing I was aiming for. Only downside is that the seats are about 4 rows closer than my usual row and a little to the side (but not entirely in the wings, so it's ok). Well, that and that I had to pay for the tickets (and Fandango surcharge) since I couldn't login/access my A-List account.

A friend also nabbed tickets Saturday for me at a non-AMC location as well, since those were the only ones you could buy tickets from today before AMC got fixed.

Still, yeah, this was the worst I've ever encountered for something like this. Rogue One was pretty bad but this was much worse.

You might be partially right there- that part rarely loaded and when it did it always fritzed out when you tried to navigate it. But the rest of their servers were definitely overwhelmed because everything from transferring to check out to A-List login/resets/profile changes simply weren't working either. And then, of course, their entire site was completely down for hours.

EDIT- AMC's site is still having a lot of problems. After fixing my A-List login (on the site at least- the app never works once you've changed passwords and the only way to fix it is to reinstall the app) I tried to order a local ticket for Sunday in IMAX 3D (not full-size, but cheaper than buying a third $30 train ticket to NYC that weekend) and the first attempt didn't apply my A-List discount (tried to charge me full price) and my 2nd and 3rd attempts resulted in a "return to homepage" error after i selected my seats.

I had an app crash as I after I made my seat selection and then had to head in to work. It took a while, but I got my Thursday tickets. They're just in the second choice theater in the front row.

Does Cap's suit look CGI'd? Like they're purposely hiding what he's really wearing in that scene. [face_thinking]

Yeah it looks like there's some odd shading and a bit of floaty head going on around the neckline.

    Music from the spot:

I'm guessing that's a scene from the Battle of New York (Tony is wearing the SHIELD shirt from the leaked set pics) and they CGI'd his IW suit over his Avengers 1 suit.

Another thing I noticed about the new spot is Thanos is using his ship's teleportation instead of the Space Stone which might suggest the Gaunlet is destroyed.
