Yes. It is exactly what we ought to be hoping for.

New York Times has a great piece on Mothra and her evolution throughout the movies.

    Me too lol.

I've decided I need to make a Mothra Christmas ornament now, though I'll wait till after I see this movie to decide classic or new Mothra.

Speaking of Mothra, are there itty-bitty singing twins?

If the Shobijin appear in the film, they better sing!

No. But a cover of the song is in the film.

First the critics criticized Godzilla 2014 for having too much human story and not enough kaiju battles.
Second, they criticize KoM for having too many kaiju battles and not enough human story.

Have these yahoos ever watched a Godzilla movie before?

Hypothetically: "That latest MCU film just didn't hit the spot. Too many superheroes. Too much comic book stuff. Certified rotten." Lol. What were they expecting! Ah, but that's Disney. Certified fresh.

How on earth a critic could go into KoM and not expect kaiju and then rate the film badly proves just how out of touch these people are.
RT has proven itself time and again to be as useful as a kick in the gut.

Why does anyone still pay attention to RT?[IMG]

I'm gonna chalk this up to an error of recency. Endgame didn't have any kaiju goodness, but it did have the Chitauri leviathans. That's only a couple of zip codes over.

Avatar? Not even on the same continent and for some reason still sits atop the world.

    Strive to meme better.

Mining for salt from MCU fans via Godzilla seems like a poor choice of instruments. Maybe if it was a Chinese IP, since the lack of an extension in China will likely be the difference in why it doesn't ascend to the number one position worldwide when all is said and done.

I don't know about that. It appears to be working exceptionally well, considering it was only intended as a tongue-in-cheek joke.

The rumor was Millie Bobby Brown has some kind of bio-lectric-something in her brain so she has a link to them. But I have not seen it to confirm yet. Tomorrow, 1:30 pm, 3D. Wearing a t-shirt with the poster art from Final Wars on it.

    Nope. Not even close.

The trailers deliberately try and play up the association of Millie Bobby Brown's role in Stranger Things to make you believe her character has psychic powers of some kind.

She doesn't. She's just a normal human being.

Just came back from seeing it. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice fights and I don't get who people are complaining about that. There's also enough story to be fine. My biggest gripe... not enough Mothra. Don't forget to stay for an after credit scene .

I was really expecting that after credit scene to be the finding of another Mothra egg, but I'm fine with it setting up for the team of Godzilla and Kong. Better than them fighting against each other. Still Mothra would be nice.

    Mothra is
eternal though. Hopefully, she will be reborn at some point.

Ok so it's a good fun movie. There are some high quality epic moments in this and it gave me what I wished especially all the monster entrances. However, they did up the cheese factor. The previous movie felt like a real world incident where 3 large monsters were causing havoc. This one is sillier.

All the technology the humans had was more over the top, not stupidly so but good grief that was a big B-2 bomber style craft. And that submarine was sure able to go really really really really deep.

The ancient world city was just much larger than I think it needed to be.

I am not fan of electromagnetic explody powers. For some reason this fit with Ghidorah, but when Godzilla did it a few times I didn't like it. Then he steps on him, big 'splosion. I just didn't care for it. I did like the aftermath where it looks like Ghidorah lived but it was actually Godzilla eating his head.

So no MBB did not have the bio power, but there was the use of technology to replace it as a nod to the little twins, not to mention the family generations of Asian twins mentioned.

I loved the nod to Ghidorah as not only an alien, but there was a good laugh when they suggested he was gonorrhea for the Earth.

I have to say, there was some complaint that this was all monsters and not enough human stuff. Bull. I don;t know who decided to make that up and pass it around but even though there is far more monster screen time than the first this is not just all monsters all the time.

So again I liked it a lot but I hope as they continue they pull back a bit on the cheese.

Very fun movie- exactly what it needed to be and one doesn't need to even use that as an excuse in the first place. It also sold it's next generation of fans as I overheard a couple kids in the lobby:

"And then Ghidorah picks him up into space and then slams him to the ground! BOOM!"

    And I need a t-shirt with
    "I record everything, man."
    on it. ;)

Some nice teases all around as well
with the mentions of Kong and Skull Island in dialogue, various newspaper headlines, headlines suggesting Skull Island might become Monster Island as well. The implication that the remaining head of Ghidorah (presumably the one ripped off during the antarctic battle) will become the basis for Mecha Ghidorah, etc.

Also kinda funny that uou could summarize this movie as "Ken Watanabe nukes Atlantis to super-charge Godzilla so that Godzilla can try to defeat King Ghidorah in Fenway Park before Godzilla explodes." ;)

The cast is mostly interesting- the mom's arc doesn't feel complete, but MBB could make for a good character to follow in the sequels. They're not a more interesting cast than Skull Island (but then it's tough to top Loki, SLJ & Captain Marvel in the same movie) but better than the first Godzilla.

    yesno.

The credits headlines had a new egg thought to be a new Mothra egg being found. But that could be another monster (I seem to recall one monster came from an egg that humans thought might be like Mothra only it turned out to be bad).
