Ya know, it's a hard sell when criticizing the cinematography in the ST entries. They're professionally, skillfully shot and therein far classier than, say, any take-your-pick MCU movie. With The Force Awakens Abrams and Dan Mindel carried over the candy-color pop from their Star Trek reboots (though slightly muted by comparison) while Johnson went with his go-to man, Steven Yedlin, giving The Last Jedi a more grayscale medieval palette. I think between the two I prefer the look of the latter, yet neither of them are lastingly interesting to recall in terms of cinematography. Shiny, yes, and filmically photogenic ...in a Lexus commercial kinda way. They're so conventionally balanced to be devoid of any oddity or idiosyncratic artifacts.

Take Attack of the Clones, with its gauzy, videographic 'soap' look, perfect for the B-movie romance and melodrama content. Solo was criticized by many for its heavy underexposure and muddiness but, hell, at least it stands out in the same respect and moreover befits a trench-warfare atmosphere that backdrops our heroes' escapades; I actually think that movie pulls off some nice 'silent era' portrait-like compositions, especially near the end. Every installment under Lucas holds its own distinct look—Return of the Jedi is arguably the most utilitarian and unstylized in terms of color/lighting, focusing instead purely on the settings, art direction, matte paintings etc. in total earnest (which I personally dig for reasons too narrow to try an articulate).

I'd say The Last Jedi has about the same somber, shadowy complexion as Rogue One yet overall not as visceral or dynamic in its application i.e., action staging and change-ups in planetary environments.

I just spent the last two hours freaking out because the house was making a ton of noises at random. I kept getting up to check on doors shutting and what was making the creaking noises, but every time I did I saw nothing.

Until now, that is. It was the other dude in this house who kept getting up because he couldn’t sleep. I swear, Carina never pulled this crap with me. :p

Well, I’m back to being fully awake due to my adrenaline. ****

*wishes I could reach through the screen to pet it*

Anyway, cute cat is redundant. Cats are always cute, especially when they're kittens. :D

Still better than camping tips with Billy Joel

When a black cat crosses your path, pet it.

@Huttese 101 All cats are beautiful in their own, unique ways. Remember Grumpy Cat? From what I've heard, she was actually a very pleasant kitty. It was just a condition that made her look grumpy.

This may come as a shock to your core, but I can't listen to Billy Joel all the time. Sometimes I really really don't want to listen to him, like to the point his voice gets on my nerves. Plus it got cold and rainy last night and I associate most of his stuff very strongly with the spring and summer, with the exception of The Stranger, which I do have on vinyl, but... ehh. The record is scratched up. Maybe today.

That’s perfectly fine lol- I was just curious as to why when Dags asked what albums you had on vinyl, there was no mention of Piano Man himself :p

That sounds fun. I need to make time for a listening session this week. Yesterday at rehearsal, our drummer did play us a cool excerpt from David Gilmour's latest record on his impressive/expensive set up. Me, I've got used gear and hand me down speakers since my last ones died.

Ah, Goodnight Tonight. Wonderful bass line in that one. I've never seen Macca use this bass guitar other than in this vid here.
