I think Palpatine from his dialouge here will excact revenge on the whole Skywalker family and want to erase them from history.
Well he can't erase them from history, not without time-travel anyway. if anything you get rid of the last one and they are all gone.
Sure he can he almost did it with the jedi, by the time ogf the ST, they mostly forgotten and thought of as legends and stories.
I am curious when he gets his helmet back. We know he has it on Kijimi, but not when he visits the Emperor. I wonder if he has it on Pasaana.
I didn’t hear it as breaking the 4th wall. I heard it as Palpatine telling Kylo that his hated uncle’s legacy was about to be destroyed. Also, it parallels him telling Anakin “the story of Darth Plageous the Wise.”
I figure it is just him letting out some venom for the family that took down his empire. Literally. Luke, Leia, Anakin and Padme all played their roles. Now he is trying to erase the bloodline (Kylo) and their legacy (Rey) from history. Basically, Sith style book burning. Side note, I really wish they had left in the part where Padme was a part of the start of the Rebellion in RotS.
It is spiteful. Palpatine used Anakin as a slave, and the slave finally turned on him. But Sheev's final mock on the family is destroying the bloodline completely. Say what you want about Kylo, but given his bloodline, it will be one of the most devastating moments in the saga. They're all gone. In a lot of ways Sheev wins.
I love the shot of Kylo and the KOR Walking down the hallway looking like they are about to wreck something.
JJ seems to be putting in a lot of images he cut from his first film. Leia with the Skywalker lightsaber is an example.
"Duel" is the trailer that really hooked me in. 30 seconds of pure Star Wars. I liked the others but something about "Duel" that makes me feel the sense of urgency in the film. Also the blend of "Duel of Fates" and "Imperial March" was too much. Love the shot of Rey by the burning Tie Fighter, clearly homage to Luke in Return of the Jedi:
Yes that one too though Return and Rise was like a wide shot but all three with the camera on the back. I would include this for sure into the symbolism as well. Also don't forget the Anakin shot in "Clones" though there wasn't a fire.
I think that’s what would make me most upset — if the whole family line died. Which is kind of why I want kylo to live. But if all skywalks died, it would be towards the cause of vanquishing the emperor — so he wouldn’t really win. meh what do I know
Sheev never sought to take out the entire Skywalker family line. He sought to have dark side dominance over the galaxy. He thinks that by taking out Skywalker, he can achieve that. But he also needs the Skywalkers to live. Thus, sending the last blood Skywalker to the netherworld is exactly what is needed to end palpatine's reign once and for all. Then, and only then, can the NEW Skywalker rise...one who encompasses the true balance. But that new Skywalker cannot achieve that if not with help of ALL the Skywalkers in spirit. That's where they are going. It may not be directly communicated in dialogue, but based on the spoilers and what we've seen and the title, that's what the story ends up all about.
I follow. Still don’t want him to die just yet. But I follow where it’s going and who the new Skywalker is etc. intriguing even if it isn’tnecessarily where I was thinking it would go.
I like Kylo, but killing ALL Skywalkers allows the franchise to seriously claim TROS is the official end of the Skywalker saga. And it also gives Palpatine more super villain points.
