I just highly highly doubt we hear any "Better than Empire" nonsense this go round. I have a gut feeling this film will be more controversial that TLJ. i dont think fans will be satisfied.

They weren't satisfied with ewoks either of Hayden ghost 9r the Greedo debate nothing new just more people with YouTube accounts tho then we wouldn't get those lovely reactions

 

The real mic drop will be when critics tell us "It's the best since TLJ"

I definitely remember my local newspaper proclaiming, TFA as "the best since Empire," and then when Rogue One came out, it too was "the best since Empire." I can't remember if they said that about TLJ, though they certainly liked it.

I suspect reviews this time will be a bit less exuberant, even if the movie is great. I think the divisiveness of TLJ will make reviewers a bit more hesitant about what they say. I can imagine the positive reviews saying things like, "After the divisiveness of The Last Jedi, Abrams, perhaps smartly, plays it safe with Skywalker, giving us a film that's sure to please the general movie-going public, but steers clear of the risks that could have made for a more memorable finale."

 

Not a high bar to clear so far. But I digress.

 

I am not personally bullish on this film at all (box office I am semi bullish about) but I would not read much into the main cast seemingly being tired in these pre release interviews. The same thing happened on ROTS and especially ROTJ particularly with Ford who really didn't even want to do the film much less talk about it.

 

They do the same thing with Trek. Every movie since 1982 has been "The best since Wrath of Khan!"

 

The quote that would excite me most is the critics say: “This is not like any of previous Star Wars films. It manages to tie the whole saga together and weaves in unexpected elements that elevate the Skywalker legacy. It is epic beyond anything that has come before it.”

 

To be fair, Rogue One is actually the best since Empire. So they weren't completely incorrect.

 

Well TFA was many times quoted as the best since Empire so I'm picking the TROS will take over that mantle as "the best since Empire" ..........

 

Sith seems to be very highly regarded these days and I can see why, so many great scenes are played out, it’s ageing well.

 

Disney will make sure The Rise of Skywalker score is amazing. Disney has the power to blacklist whomever they want, no media outlet will give TROS a bad review, not if they want to continue being able to see Disney movies before they release in theaters.

 

The best scene in RotS for me, is the one with Obi Wan and Padme on Coruscant. Where he reveals to her how Anakin has fallen. And that he knows the truth about him being the father of her unborn.
He must go to confront him and fight to the death.

While I don't care for that film, that is its best scene and its best line delivery.

 

I really love the spying on chancellor scene between obi wan and anakin it’s so well covered acted and surprisingly well written.

 

But how do you explain all the Disney movies that get bad scores?

 

My gut feeling is that fans will find it less divisive and better received than TLJ, but professional critics and access media will not praise it nearly as exuberantly as they did TLJ and will even have some couched criticism.

 

Agreed, There is one scene in revenge of the Sith is when Anakin Skywalker did not become the Jedi Master.which was Very well acted by Hayden Christinsen and Had the Imperial march theme. It also plays a part of Anakin Skywalker's turning point to the Darkside other than just trying save Padme from a terrifying Death.

Anakin anger in front of the council not becoming a jedi master connects very well with Darth Vaders dialogue in A New hope prior to his Second duel With Obi Wan on how Vader is now the Master, Especially. when Vader left Obi Wan as the learner and we saw that in Revenge of the sith.

 

They don't have enough money to pay off critics for Aladdin, and The Lion King, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, and A Wrinkle in Time, and The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, because they spent all their Movie Critic Bribe Money™ on Star Wars! Duh! And they couldn't pay off critics to get better reviews for Solo because they already spent it all on The Last Jedi!! Duh!!
