I'll be honest I'm hoping for something like a dementors style kiss if the kiss is real.

Carrie knew this was going to happen.

She even told Daisy to be ready for her space kiss!

I'm not going to post a link but there's a very popular post on Tumblr gaining steam fast how Ben was more important then Reylo happening. So this ending literally pleases no one.

In myth and classical literature, true love usually ends in death or tragedy. Star Wars is modern myth.

The message Disney is sending is disgusting and I hope they get bashed for it. If a man emotionally abuses you, gaslights you, tortures you it's your job to heal him and make him a better person. That is so damn toxic and what a horrible message to send to young girls.

Rey stabs him and walks away. He changes and gives his life for the good of another. They make peace with each other.

Yeah, little girls and boys might decide to emulate that. Hopefully they'll skip step one though.

As someone who didn't interpret it as romance in TLJ this is going to seem like it's completely out of left field.

    And gross.

More good news. IX references in dialogue the hand scene again while also seeking to better separate Kylo Ren from Ben as I’d hoped! Whoot whoot!

Ben says to Rey: "You wanted to take my hand." And Rey responds to the comment later in another scene by saying, "I did want to take your hand. Ben's hand."

She ships them also so that’s great news. This is from 3 years ago so her shipping them pre-dated TLJ even.

I am sad that he died, but I expected it - he saved the girl he loved and smiled - but it seems Rey is doomed to end her tale as she started it - alone

Not the hopeful ending that was promised by cast and crew. It's hard to say without seeing it, but sounds like it might be a film that could upset your kids if they like the characters.

    Maybe.

It is interesting that both sides of the "dyad" have a death and rebirth moment. Kylo almost dying and being reborn Ben, Rey dying then Ben giving up his life to revive her and return the favour.

Yeah, pretty much how I'm feeling on it. Never struck me as romantic in the first two at all, more just...linked in destiny. Platonic, but two sides of the same coin, with the universe having selected them as each other's opposites and basically bound to some sort of adversarial relationship that ultimately ended in peace/balance/whatever way down the line.

But...yeah, I dunno. Context is all, gonna wait for the whole picture - visuals, music, performance, editing etc, can make all the difference. Just hoping it's more a sort of mutual understanding/acceptance that he's changed on Rey's part, "spell broken" type of thing, a visual illustration of Kylo Ren being no more and Ben's back without the Palpatine-inflicted mojo. Still, Ben initiating it's gonna make me cringe either way I think.

Really should have just been to the forehead or something. He collapses afterward as Rey's waking up, she sees what's gone down with the healing, forgiveness and Anakin-Luke moment ensues, Ben go bye-bye, Rey gets up to haul ass off Exogol and having been vindicated in thinking he was worth trying for, late as the turnaround may have came.

I'm glad I prepared myself for the possibility of Ben Solo dying. I accepted the likelihood of it when the first leaks began showing up online.

I'll still go see the film and judge for myself if I like the way they concluded the Skywalker saga. Reviews seem mostly positive so far.

Look on the bright side, it also sends the message that if girls do gymnastics at school, they'll be able to do a back-flip over a TIE fighter.

"So the message is that girls have hots for Space Nazis, right?"

"So the message is that if you're abused your whole life you just have to die, right?"

Literal takes that I read back to back on twitter [face_rofl][face_rofl][face_rofl][face_rofl][face_rofl]

    I'm paraphrasing and I didn't name names.
I'm also not making fun of the tweets per say, but having a laugh at the polar opposite sentiments prompted by the exact same story.

If young girls are learning life lessons on relationships from starwars , then they have lousy parents.

Romanticizing abuse in mainstream media reinforces the message that is shouted at girls their entire lives. Would you say people who equate abuse with romance have lousy parents across the board?
How about we blame the people perpetuating the message instead of the parents?

Kids who learn life lessons from movies have lousy parents. Your Morals and how you behave towards people should be learned from your parents by their example and teachings, not by what you see in some fantasy movie.

I mean, I was a little boy watching ESB and ROTJ, but I didn’t learn I could change an abusive father.

    Was that the OT’s message?
