My son is a huge fan of the prequels, and I’m wondering before we go how many references there are to the prequels in the new film. I know there are the voiceovers and a battle droid, but are there any other references to the prequels? Are they tied in any other way? Thanks!
Only just heard this today. The wayfinder Kylo finds there was Vader's right? So Mustafar makes sense. Didn't catch that. Don't know if this counts but there are some possible opposite mirrors in ep3 Anakin's fall and Ben Solo's redemption. Like the "Kylo" persona dying surrounded by water, the "Anakin" persona fades surrounded by lava and fire. Also Sheev Palpatine heals Vader (initially with a hand touch to the head) and then cold unnatural life-support devices. Rey Palpatine heals Ben Solo with her touch and compassion. Ben reunites with his family briefly (in spirit). Obi-Wan permanently abandons Vader on the lavabank (Vader is dead to Kenobi). And Anakin running to intervene with a confrontation between a Jedi and Palpatine. Ben Solo running to the confrontation between Rey and Palpatine. In Ep3 the Jedi is killed and Anakin turns. Anakin proceeds to do his worst. In Ep9 Ben helps stop Rey from turning, and Palpatine dies. Ben also gets lightninged and thrown down a great distance like Mace Windu. Yet he returns and doesn't die until he willingly gives up his life. His noblest action in the films. Ben makes the ultimate sacrifice to bring Rey back. Anakin turns to selfishly try and preserve his own life setup (by cheating Padme's death) and doesn't make the selfless gesture until ROTJ. Ben's family help bring him back to the light. Anakin's family motivate him to turn to the dark. I've really got to see the film a second time.
It certainly was Coruscant. It had the same architecture... what else could be? They would not add a random planet that looks exactly like Coruscant.
Never heard of those cities in film canon. JJ would for sure go to Coruscant, not those far less known cities.
Abrams invented the Hosnian System instead of using Coruscant in TFA. Why wouldn’t he do the same for TROS?
Or (if not also) the scene from the first trailer. The Tie appears and speeds through the desert with mountains in the background. Kylo tries to run Rey down, Rey cuts off a wing and he crashes. Poodoo! ... Like Sebulba in case I wasn't being obvious.
He invented Hosnian so he could destroy it without having to destroy a famous city from the Prequels.
Ran out of edit time to add to this: Anakin running (out of fear for Padme) to intervene with a confrontation between a Jedi and Palpatine. Ben Solo running (with hope for Rey) to the confrontation between Rey and Palpatine. In Ep3 the Jedi is killed and Anakin turns. Anakin proceeds to do his worst. In Ep9 Ben helps stop Rey from turning, and Palpatine dies. Ben also gets drained and thrown down a great distance like Mace Windu. Yet he returns and doesn't die until he willingly gives up his life. His noblest action in the films. Ben makes the ultimate sacrifice to bring Rey back. Anakin turns to selfishly try and preserve his own life setup (by cheating Padme's death) and doesn't make the truly selfless gesture until ROTJ. Oh and Ben succeeds at saving Rey's life. Ben learns selflessness. Anakin forgets it. Ben's family help bring him back to the light. Anakin's family unintentionally motivate him to turn to the dark.
Was really hoping to hear The Duel of the Fates as it was teased in the TV spots. Alas it was not used. The biigest reference I could see was the Sith troopers has the vertical split visors which mirrored the Clone troopers
The planet with trees was Mustafar? Is it true that in the Vader Immortal game there is some lore that changes Mustafar?
