I wonder if Leia will meet Grogu? Presumably Luke is training her around this time period?

I don't think so? I believe she stopped being trained when she was pregnant with Ben? He was born a year after ROTJ, so the timing doesn't work out.

Disney needs to take note of this response, I'm sure they are. How many people legitimately got emotional and welled up with tears hearing that X-Wing and seeing Luke pull his hood back. Look at the reactions on YouTube already, this is a huge moment for Star Wars. I don't care if you consider it fan-service, this is what people have been waiting decades to see.

Yes! I don't like uncanny Luke, but it would be very satisfying as a fan to watch Mark train a puppet.

Good point. So, Leia was the first he passed on what he’d learned to and now we know Grogu is with him. I wonder if there’s been any other students between then?

If Jon and Dave have done one thing with this series after 2 seasons, they have really brought HOPE to the Franchise. Yeah, sounds corny, I know. But when SW came out, it was close to the end of the 70s. The War, the unrest. SW back then gave us all something we needed. Mind you I was 13, so I'm not sure how much I was up on all the real events going on back then. But from what I read over the years, SW really came at a time when it was REALLY needed.

Thank you to the WHOLE Mandalorian Team for giving us HOPE in Star Wars again. I'm just so emotional about it, so I'll spare you all the sight of a 56 year old man shedding a bit of tears for all this. Seriously, SW is my haven. My Fantastical Escape. I need it.

This was fan service done right. Because even with the other beloved characters like Ashoka and Boba Fett, none of them felt as if they had been forced into the story just - because. I think their apperances served the story in a natural way.

I want Luke to meet Ahsoka and have him say how Anakin returned which could be a emotional scene for her. Maybe in the Ahsoka show she could even be visited by his ghost??

Take note? Disney is responsible for allowing us to see the afterglow period of ROTJ here. This isn’t being done without their involvement. This was always in the cards because the events that bummed some fans out all happen decades later when the next trilogy is set. Thet was the end of that era. This is the era many imagined most. A lot of the good stuff we imagined can still fit in here. Heck, it wouldn’t entirely shock me if we get repurposed and reimagined version of Mara briefly and somehow they incorporate her death into part of a series of tragedies that begin to weigh on Luke psychologically as he later approaches the age his father was when he died.

It's rather poignant that at the same time as Jeremy Bulloch's death was announced, the Boba Fett series gets a title and release date.

What this episode showed is that this series will have guts and ambition to connect into the larger Skywalker saga and won’t just be some small scale Agents of Shield TV situation where more popular characters are name-dropped but never shown, or where significant lore developments never occur, or where the plot is focused only on some small force who is largely insignificant in the larger tale of Star Wars. Grogu is set to train with Luke freaking Skywalker for Pete’s sake. Ashoka is looking for Thrawn. They want M-count blood to do experiments that look eerily similar to things we saw lead to Snoke by way of Palpatine. That’s ambitious!

    some random thoughts...

I’m glad we got to see more Mandalorians again, I actually liked the beginning with the clash between Fett and Bo-Katan and Koska, I like that this show is exploring the different perspectives on what it means to be Mandalorian.

Luke was amazing, definitely fits with the Legends of Luke Skywalker and the myth he’s becoming to the galaxy. Just excellent. I held my breath when he took his hood off though, I’m so glad it was Hamill, or de-aged Hamill or whatever.

And I loved seeing R2 with Luke

Lots of pretty cool things set up for the next season

And the end credits lol, I laughed so much at fat Bib Fortuna, and then Fett just blasts him in the face hahahaha

LOl. I wake up after watching it last night and reading/posting on here. Observations of the thread:

Ahsoka v Luke - who would win? Clearly the fan base is divided over everyones favorite of the two. Plenty of room in the SW univeerse for both everyone....and Ahsoka isnt a Jedi so stop comparing them. But ill chime in.

Ahsoka's entrance/first scene in Chapter 13 looked WAY better than Lukes, and she looked the better lightsager wielder too. She was attacking humans with the ability to think and a masterful face-off with The Magistrate. Luke - he killed about 50 droids (all be it very strong ones) Ahsoka wins

Lukes scenes - not original. Hallway scene just like Vaders in RO.

Did I love the episode, yes, it was a fantastic end to a quite brilliant season. Did seeing luke give me an emotionl punch/rush? No. Unfortunately it did not and that is because he always has been one of my least favorite charatcers.

And I stand by my comments from last night. Thats the end of The Mandalorian series as we know it.

On-wards and upwards....as long as there is NO Luke Skywalker series. I actually though they did a better job of Leia in RO than they did with Luke.

I will so miss that theme tune and the music :(

I had talked to my mother this morning about the episode, and had told her what had happened. She has only seen the original movies and has casual knowledge of Baby Yoda and The Mandalorian, but the fact that she understood everything I said says a lot about what Favreau and Filoni have done here.

My score is somewhere between 9 and 10, I'll have to watch it again to be sure. I'm very satisfied at what we've been offered, and can't wait to see what other surprises they have in store.

The Dark troopers would have wrecked the thinking beings Ashoka took out. I don’t see the need to compare the two but one dark trooper was more formidable against Din than just about any adversary was in 2 seasons.

Disney have completely turned around, probably due to public opinion and fan pressure. One of their big original promotional pushes was that the Star Wars univers had so many more stories to tell, lots more exploration, hundreds more characters and they were moving away from the "Skywalker" story arc. Now we are back to square one. Heck even the Kenobi series has been taken over by the admission its about Anakin. Now the Brilliant Mandalorian series ends, with Luke. Please, no Luke and Grogu series. I want new original stuff.

It's not like we'll ever find out, but Ahsoka was disarmed by a non-Jedi without a lightsaber. Luke defeated Vader 5 years prior to Mando, I don't think she would have much of a chance in a saber duel with him. Again, it's all personal, but I found his saber choreography much more impressive.

“The end of of the Skywalker saga” was just the end of the timeline of the family. I don’t think it’s a retcon to have more content set between trilogies from the most popular characters overall. They gave themselves that option by skipping 30 years ahead.

Bo Katan was not so honorable on the Clone Wars - until she sort of was. She served Pre Visla. She torched a village. Bo will do bad things to get what she wants or thinks is right.

I think we'll find out Luke trained a number of Jedi between Leia and when he packs it up looking for deeper answers after Ben Solo massacred the Jedi Temple.

I think that special mention has to go to one of the best lines in ANY Star Wars, from Boba Fett

I would love to see a scene where Grogu is doing a one handed handstand on Dagobah as rocks levitate and Luke is overseeing him. Even if it’s just part of a montage. =P~

I do think Grogu is going to be out of the picture for much of season 1
