Great, this is definitely a good time to start with the good ideas, Mr. President. I like that you kind ramped into it.
...so that’s the catch, I wondered what it was. He thinks if he does this, he can get the Senate to override the Electoral College and install him for another term.
Watch as Congress relents, gives the $2k per person bill, and then Biden vetoes it because "Americans don't want a handout."
Congress can easily override his veto with the votes that passed the bill. I wouldn't be surprised if they listened to his worst complaint and removed help for undocumented immigrants. I think the only result of the veto will be delaying what relief the bill contains. Unemployment payments will already be interrupted starting on the 26th.
Do you remember your president Nixon? Do you remember the bills you have to pay? Or even yesterday? David Bowie, Young Americans
If the Democrats haven’t cut ads in the Georgia Senate races blasting Trump for vetoing the bill, then they’ve committed political malpractice.
Still, it's nice that he's doing good things like that, right? Oh, and he also did this tonight: "Trump has also pardoned four Blackwater private contractors responsible for killing 17 civilians in Baghdad's Nisour Square, an act that fomented terrorism against U.S. forces for years afterwards."
We can't let increase the payments to what Trump wants, that would be letting Trump win. And at what cost?
If the idiot had said something in April or May back when the HEROES Act was passed by the House, he could have won reelection.
he's just pandering, probably thinks he can stay in office by doing it. He had no part in the negotiations leading up until now.
Except that he’s fundamentally incapable of understanding the value of compassion. And let’s all be glad that he going to be thrown out on his ass.
Bernie nailed it. The Democrats would be mind-bogglingly stupid to oppose this. Also this: I hope Georgia will bring him in as opposed to keeping Pandemic Profiteering Barbie with the Sean Hannity talking points.
It's pretty genius if you think about it. This could all have been part of the plan anyhow. But instead of Trump looking like the bad guy for not signing the bill, he gets to look like he's doing the people a favor. And then they just stall until everybody goes on vacation for two weeks. With people seeing it as a good thing, thinking they'll get more money this way, and it won't cause any widespread anger. When you look at how the Republicans blocked previous bills that were put forth, this doesn't seem entirely out of the realm of possibility. It is Trump's last month as president, and we all expected they'd be pulling fast ones during this time. All part of the plan, amirite?
He also pardoned people convicted of crimes from the Russia investigation. https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...2f038e-30f4-11eb-96c2-aac3f162215d_story.html President Trump granted clemency on Tuesday to 20 people, including three former Republican members of Congress and two people who were convicted of crimes as part of the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

it seems like only a couple days ago Trumps buddies in the congress were opposing any payments. it's almost like he throws them under the bus. like if he touches them they die.
Who cares. You people are just as graceless as Trumpists, if not more. I swear if Trump was going to force Jeff Bezos to give every American $100,000, you guys would still find fault in it.
Yes, that's obviously what I was saying, Vivec. I'm not accusing you of being a secret Republican. Chill out. I would praise him if he actually had any ****ing ability or intent to do so.
CT I think there are plenty of reasons for people to doubt Trump's sincerity. Namely, eight months worth of failed negotiations. If he was seriously going to pressure the Republicans on this point, why did he wait until now? And if he does, what fundamentally changed from all the other times he was asked to do so and refused? There's a fair case for being critical about that.
