There is no difference. Both use their money and influence to harm the rest of us. Democratic Billionaires are crushing union formation just as hard as Republican Billionaires. You're completely out of touch if you think there's some kind of difference here. You think Jeff Bezos is so great? He's the one crushing workers in Amazon. He's had his WashingtonPost newspaper run article after article against Bernie because Bernie dared to call him out on how Amazon was a ****ty workplace. You've been paying no attention.

I want Americans to get as big as stimulus as possible, and I want it to come from a President who gives a **** about people and is not just doing that for self-serving reasons. That does not mean that I oppose a stimulus under the current circumstances, I certainly don’t, it just means that nobody is obligated to just shut up because it’s money.

What I don’t care about is whether I’m considered privileged for calling out Trump’s motives. I don’t think Trump is owed credit for getting on board with an idea that Bernie Sanders and AOC proposed months ago.

You'll be waiting a long time. Joe Biden doesn't care about us. Kamala Harris doesn't care about us. And Pete Buttigieg doesn't care about us.

No, I don't think Bezos is great. But letting Trump crush him for partisan reasons is a road that goes straight to hell.

Pleasantly surprised to see the Democratic leadership enthusiastically onboard with this. Hopefully it’s genuine and they get this thing passed.

They could just be doing it for self-serving reasons to increase their power base in the Senate by swaying the Georgia elections and trying to drive a wedge between Trump and the Republican leadership in Congress

Further proving my point, you cannot even handle considering a fantasy scenario. You have to find fault with it. You can’t just say it would be great.

Yeah, it would be a shame if you suffered some disappointment for giving someone the benefit of the doubt...even though you lose nothing significant by doing so.

I didn’t mean that you would actually turn it down, and you know it, but you’re making **** up to have something you can actually argue with.

I said you’d bitch about it, you’d find some fault, some shade to cast, which you already have. You’ve already proven me right.

I was never set on giving Trump credit. I’m not inclined to say anything good about him.

You still don’t get it? You guys were so unbelievably bitter that you inspired me to say something about it. It is the behavior of people ITT which provoked these comments from me.

Hey, you said it! You’re simply not interested in giving credit, and of course you’ve already decided that Trump doesn’t deserve any.

I think the case makes itself. Trump demands more for people, you have nothing but criticism for it.

Well, I absolutely resent that obstacle you needlessly put in front of people getting help.

What a petty, close minded position. Who cares who came up with it first? Getting on board is a good thing. If more did, we’d actually have it.

looks like Trump is the one driving the wedge between himself and Republicans, not Democrats. All trump needed to do was sign this maintain the Republican status quo. If Donald follows through with his $2,000 idea - that sinks the Republican positions.

will be interesting to see the mind pretzels trump supporters and republicans come up to justify this so it fits into their narrative and they continue to always be right.

You're absolutely set on both these things.
I've already dispelled the ******* you've been trying to push about being against people getting the $2000. You would think that wanting the same thing would be enough, but I need to "give the benefit of the doubt" to Donald Trump. I don't owe Donald Trump one ****ing thing.
Yeah, I did. And I'll keep saying it. Hey doesn't deserve any credit because he doesn't deserve any credit. This is the same ******** argument that Jay-Rodz and starbob would pull out. Hey, when Harris and Sanders and AOC were proposing this 7 months ago, what was Donald Trump doing then? How about during the discussions about this? He certainly has enough influence to push over half the House Republicans to support a bid to overturn an election, you don't think he could've weighed in before? There's already plenty of reports that Trump was more interested in pursuing his endless quest to 'win' the election and didn't give a **** about the legislation until it came to him. And let me tell you something, if he impedes the bill and it gets delayed, there are going to be millions of people on unemployment that are going to be adversely affected. I've dealt with people like this directly and I know how devastating it is to be beholden to these ****ing political games - because this is all this is.
He had plenty of opportunities to do something before this, and he chose not to. He chose to fight a losing battle against an election he lost, he chose to work on pardoning war criminals and felonious friends, he chose to go play ****ing golf for the 1000th time. He doesn't get a participation trophy because he echoed something sensible that someone said months ago. There were ways this could've been - then and now - handled where it wouldn't **** over people in dire need. And yes, I fully blame, McConnell, Pelosi, Schumer, and all the idiots in power for this.
And I cannot stress this enough - ultimately the only thing that really matters in the end is if people get the money. Full stop.
If I didn't know better, I would almost think you were giving praise to Pelosi.

CT: It seems there were some wires crossed/crossing. I've never said that the proposal should be rejected. I fully support the move to increase the direct stimulus payments. I'm simply noting that calling out Trump's insincerity is not some sign of special cynicism or insincerity, but in fact a pretty reasonable course of action. His latter day conversion should neither absolve him of his responsibility for the suffering associated with 8 months of obstinacy, nor yet prevent him form bein able to sign the correct policy now. He's just a bad person that did painfully obvious good thing at the last minute.

I'll give Pelosi praise if she pushes $2000 and gets it. I've already praised Pelosi in the past. I've praised Biden. Why? Because they did a good thing. Good things deserve praise, and it doesn't hurt me to give it.

I had a longer post, but calling blackmyron bitter and cynical one more time is a waste of time because of course blackmyron is bitter and cynical. I actually like that about him. Just not right now.

A system that allows a person to amass the equivalent GDP of a medium sized nation simply must have a mechanism in it to redistribute that wealth, particularly in circumstances where the system fails to provide a basic safety net which guarantees the kind of necessities that a rich country like the US can afford. It blows my mind that US governments (republican and democratic) have no interest in the idea of being able to guarantee a decent standard of living for its citizens. Other countries have managed to do so and still retain an entrepreneurial culture. It’s not like providing Medicare for all and similar initiatives will suddenly prevent the opportunity for people to become billionaires. You can have both.

Those of us who are afraid that the reason Dems are attacking Trump's "sincerity" for wanting $2k payments are a prelude to trying to get us as little as possible have valid reasons to be afraid. Just look at Amy Klobuchar.

    Witness the mind bogglingly stupid

and yes I know she is trying to say a separate bill would be insulting to their current one, but 1 who cares, and 2. the current one is evil and grotesque and the democrats can eat **** for supporting it over this one.

They refused to compromise to extend unemployment, but now once they got the white house they are willing to compromise to give half a billion to Israel, but then when trump might look good or something they are willing to choose the smaller sum with godawful attachments cause orange man bad. this is insane
They would rather the poor die than let trump think he got one over on them. Pandering is GOOD it is what politicians are supposed to do. actually pander to the voters and give them something they want let alone need. actually doing politics even slightly is seen as perverse to liberals because of this mindset the politics is when you accept whatever a billionaire says about political reality and fiscal responsibility

"the poor might get money but orange man bad"
    "wow that's messed up"
"oh so much for the tolerant left"

and to the other point yeah who actually gives a bleep why? Might as well say "politician does political thing for political reasons" that is literally just what politics is. I couldn't care less or pay the slightest mind to why trump is doing something good if he is doing something good.

It is like bringing up every time Huey Long is mentioned that "well he took care of New Orleans citizens so they would support him" like yes yes he did....and?

But what if the poor get given basic living standards without everyone knowing that trump is bad? I am so done being charitable when this is the reaction of dems who are totally on our side but just want process. here is process and oops guess we better give even a rat's butt about trump or whatever

But what if the poor get given basic living standards without everyone knowing that trump is bad? I am so done being charitable when this is the reaction of dems who are totally on our side but just want process. here is process and oops guess we better give even a rat's butt about trump
Do these jokers not know that these rich a holes donate to both political parties? This is honestly insane. it is culture war, it is always culture war. who says the nice things, regardless of the fact that both are legit evil and kill people with every thousand dollars they make and hoard.

This is what I flipping mean by the enemy. The rich the capitalists the neoliberals. There is no meaningful difference. it is not just "both sides" both sides would require more than one side. Politics is not a spectrum of right to left, it is top to bottom. (insert joke about power bottoms) and I fight for the bottom to destroy the top always. There are no good billionaires, that is like saying there are good child molesters.....ok bit of an oxymoron given what we know of the rich. The point is when the rich no matter what get richer from the death and misery of the poor and exploited then THAT and only that is the dynamic.

It is why Obama is my enemy same as Trump. do they drone strike and protect banks? yup then they are one side with the same interests. This is why I shared that trueanon ep a few pages back. the point they make is truly what I believe. all these people are my enemy, it is an unresolvable difference. the whole system is our enemy

Biden's admin already is chalk full of defense contractors and people from Raytheon's board. They are no exaggeration my enemy more than any Jihadi or even chud KKK member. These monsters kill millions, they literally support torture. Biden's admin is the same as trump's. you cannot push left on war profiteering or making money from the exploitation of the worker. This "spectrum" is my enemy to my enemy, war criminal to war criminal, billionaire to billionaire, child molester to child molester.

edit: I love the little group of us who are just completely fed up with this stuff and not equivocating anymore. people are already going back on "we'll push left and i dont like the dems any more than you do" before biden is even in office. We have no need to pretend we don't stand for what we stand for

    Catching up:

Yes, Klobuchar is awful. Always has been.

And the rest of the thread is...people getting pissed because some of us are not going to blow sunshine up Trump’s ass because he did the right thing once?

My reaction to being accused of “TDS” from the left is exactly the same as it is when I get that accusation from the right: So?

My “TDS” is not going to stop anyone from getting the $2000 that I’m in favor of everyone getting, despite what some people here seem to think, given the level of outrage against Trump criticism. I don’t have that kind of power. If I did, the House bill from late spring or early summer, the one that allotted $2000 per month to individuals, would have passed—you know, that bill that McConnell would not touch and Trump said he’d never sign.

I’m waiting to see if Trump signing a $2000 individual stimulus into law is contingent upon the Senate overturning the election results, given that he said in October that people would only get another stimulus check if he wins.
