Tried a slightly different technique on the chest aquilas for my hell blasters.

Based in sanctions dust 2 coats. Then when that was dry, did a recess wash of sepia on the wings to make the receses dark. Then once the wash dried thoroughly, dry brushed ushabti bone with my smallest base brush to Raised areas brighten the wings of the awhile back up. then went back and just did a quick dot of screaming skull on the skull on the center.

 

Have the arms on now with the heavy plasma incinerators. If I do another squad of them will do assault or regular hellblasters because the cable that attaches the power back to the gun comes in two pieces and lining them up is a pain. On one I just could not seem to get them to touch without a gap so in patched it using some a cut down piece of resin from a forge world sprue.

Waiting till Monday when the Ahriman blue paint I order arrives to paint the plasma coils.

 

Any word on when Victory 2 Omni will be out?

While waiting on the n paint for the plasma.coils to arrive I caught up on the backlog of putting transfers on my Dark Angels.

 

I am honestly much happier with where I am at painting wise than I was only a few months ago.

Reminds me of that moment in the Scars novel when Malcador says he told the Emperor the Primarchs should have been made girls instead of boys, but the Emperor thought he was joking.

The Lion has a beard in HH9: Crusade art. So not that alike. The art does look good though.

It suits him - him and Leman Russ appear to be the only bearded Primarchs.

 

I know, but surprisingly much fan art shows him as a pretty boy. But officially he has a beard.

I actually don't think Leman Russ has a beard.

 

Russ's is like Jonson's - more "long stubble" than "full beard" - but the sideburns at least stand out.

True but if we go by the book covers and models do Ross go between clean-shaved and "one week without a razor", while el'Jonson is constantly shown with a full beard.

 

In later media, certainly. I think the last book to show The Lion with only five o'clock shadow was Angels of Caliban.



I think it was around the time that HH9: Crusade came out, or only a little bit before, that the decision was made to show the Lion as having more facial hair even than most depictions of Russ.

Also, it turns out that Jaghatai Khan has an even bigger beard than Jonson.

So, we have Khan (dense beard) Jonson (thin beard) and Russ (occasional very thin beard).

 

My primarch has a full glorious beard in on the cover of his of his primarch novel.

Per the Novel Master of Sanctity the Modern Chapter is clean shaven as general rule anything more than stubble and you get to spend a few days in the penitantium, except when circumstances such as extended time in the field prevent shaving. Its also stated in the same series of Novels that most Dark Angels will shave their heads as well but for those who don't having their head shaved is often used as a scene of contrition if they had been punished or conversely if they have been promoted , the second half of the Gav Thorpe novels follow two battle brothers Annael of the Raven wing and Telemenus of orginally of the 5th company over the course during the course of the novels Annael is promoted to a Black Knight(the elite of the Ravenwing, who ride alongside Sammel, and Telemenus is promoted to the Death wing when his squad accidentally captures the Fallen Astelan. Both are depicted as shaving there heads upon promotion to the wings. Also telemenus is depicted as shaving his head when serving a sentence in the penitantium for disobeying orders in A much earlier part of the series.

The Lion is canonically the only Primarch depicted growing facial hair in official art and on the tabletop. Russ does nor have any in official GW art nor his Horus Heresy model. Interestingky Leman's hair color is depicted inconsistanrly Most depiction make him the 4rh blonde primarch(Jonson, Guilliman, and Sanguinius being the others) but in the Collected visions art book he is depicted with Red hair. Dorn(though Rogal is often depicted in fan art with a mustache with connected sideburns in fan art) is also canonically Clean shaven despite Fan depictions mostly based on the If the Emperor had a text to speech device version giving him a mustache with connected sideburns like Lemmy from Motorhead.

 

The hair situation among the Primerchs is interesting.

The Blondes all stayed loyal (Sanguinius, the Lion, Gulliman, and Russ depending on who is drawing him I guess)

The primarchs that have hair but keep it short but not shaven also did(Guilliman, Ferrus and Dorn

The lone confirmed Red head went Traitor(Magnus) despite really trying to stay loyal

The ones with white or silver hair where split (Fulgrim and Dorn)

The ones with long dark hair where split as well(Corvus, and the Khan stayed loyal Mortarion and Konrad traitor.)

The bald primarchs are a interesting case. Horus is canonically bald by choice(likely military convienance) as Points of view from Loken Abbadon and Little Hours Aximand after both times Horus is wounded(first by the athame and later after fighting Russ) describe his hair growing back whole he is recovering from wounds. Later he adds a extensive neural interface to his armor which would require his hair to be shaven most likely.
Perturabo likely also shaves his head by choice as he also has a more extensive neural interface than Hours(thats the metal piping that resemble dreadlocks in some of his art).

Angron may have had hair nut the implantation of the nails mens he also likely has to keep any hair growth down to prevent infections.

Lorgar is probably the only one with true male pattern baldness. He describes himself in Betrayed as the one who facial resembles the Emperor the most but for his lack of hair.

Vulkan, who is tHe only bald loyalist Primarch grew up on a Radiation blasted planet. His hair likely fell out for the same reason his skin changed to a un natural shade.

The twins from the Alpha Legion are likely head shavers, they and probably there entire Legion do this to facilitate the switching places stuff they do all the time.

is from a Forgeworld book (book 7) and shows rather long stubble as well as sideburns.

This acutally happened to me. Like exactly. I was 13 and my parents went away on a July weekend to take my younger brother to a soccer tournament in Pennsylvania and my older sister decided to do this to me while they where away

Actually yes.

My sister kind of screwed up. I have light brown hair normally and she timed the dye wrong and my hair ended up only slightly lighter in color than Magnus.(like a burnt orange color). Dad and my brother where laughing so much that mom(who I guess would be Malcador in this situation) felt bad and drove to the local phramacy (rite aid i think) bought clippers Came home bought clippersand shaved my head.

I have mostly keep the shaved head since. Though I did grow my hair out pre pandemics for about a year and had that Vikings Undercut for a while(also had a beard then). During the pandemic I went back to shaving my head and got rid of the beard because its annoying with when wearing a mask.

 

I'd say the model has slightly less beard than the pic does.
