That makes sense because I've definitely found myself wondering just what the heck the Flag Smashers are up to. EDIT: Ya know what? I'm still not totally sure what the Flagsmashers whole deal is.
Well, that's why I really didn't view Karli or the Flag Smashers as "villains," and neither did Sam at first, as Sam actually agreed with Karli and the Flag Smashers in identifying the problems of the GRC, but disagreed in her methods. Zemo is not really the true villain in this story, but is there to tell Sam that Karli is beyond redemption. Additionally, narratively speaking, Zemo is there to speak against super soldiers and why symbols, like the Captain America shield, can be used for nefarious means. Karli, is somewhat like a Thanos whereby the motivations for their cause may sound noble, but their methods are criminal, villainous and murderous. I think the series has demonstrated why Sam didn't want to have the mantle on Captain America bestowed upon him, but in this last episode, we have Sam discovering why he has reconsidered the decision of not being the Star Spangled Man. Sam first instincts has been to talk and deescalate situations; to listen and offer a different path from violence as we've seen when he talked to Karli and John Walker. This is the kind of spin that Sam Wilson can offer when he wields Captain America's might shield; instead of being a symbol force, it can be a symbol of peace and understanding.
this episode in many instances felt like a last episode more than a next to last. also: a regular human could still not catch that thing.
A regular human couldn't also fly with retractable wings and a jet and do back flips and cartwheels in mid air. We're way past what regular humans can do. And that's okay. lol
well i mean okay but they are breaking their own rules. Recall Steve's reaction when the shield is caught by Bucky in The Winter Soldier.
I will say it definetly feels like the old Senator dude’s dialogue in the GRC meeting means that Sam and Bucky have to disrupt and defy their wishes in some way; that scene more than anything may have been a later addition to clarify what the Flag Smashers’ goal is once they removed their original virus idea for a storyline - they’re basically anti-authoritarian rebels emerging from desperate refugee groups that have legitimate grievances with how apathetic and callous they’re being treated in the push to basically deport the millions of them. There’s some potential that they always wanted them to be sympathetic but that the original plan of using a virus was darker than they wanted, and they kind of used the reshoots as an excuse to repackage it. Karli blowing up that building with people in it is still the only really unacceptable action on their part thus far - and it’s still only hers. She may be doomed because of that... though if she is, than so should be Walker. If he isn’t, than neither should she.
I don't think Karli is anything like Thanos. Regarding the bolded line, Zemo blew up UN and killed way more people than Karli's three guards and this show is trying very hard to make viewers like him. Why should this show think I would put any weight on anything he says regarding Karli. Why should Sam. The fact they have Sam even hanging out with him is wrong. Again I don't know how last episode handles everything but is not enough for Sam to say I agree with everything but you need to be stopped. Fine, but that is not catharsis defeat I can root for if you leave what she is fighting against unchallenged by our heroes. I hope the show doesn't kill her.
I'm sure a lot of people won't think that Karli is anything like Thanos. However, I think it is fair to say that both Karli and Thanos feel their actions are for the greater good and their ends justice their means. The show is not excusing Zemo's past actions, thus the Dora Milaje there to take him in for his crimes. I don't think it's plain out wrong for Sam and Bucky to use Zemo in tracking down Karli; especially since all the leads went cold. Remember, the CIA and other intelligence agencies that John Walker was using couldn't find Karli. Zemo was a last resort. It should be noted that Sam did initially object to Bucky's idea of breaking out Zemo from prison. Also, Zemo gives Sam and Bucky a means of transportation with his private jet and gets them to Madripoor and Riga, Latvia. Why does Zemo's words have any weight? Why should Sam listen to him? Answer, Exhibit A: Red Skull, Exhibit B: Hydra's Winter Soldier Program, Exhibit C: Emil Blonsky, Exhibit D: Karli Morgenthau and Exhibit E: John Walker. The only exception to the super soldier serum is Steve Rogers, which Zemo notes. Again, Sam was a counselor for soldiers returning from war, his first instinct is to talk things out, which he tries to do with Karli. He's trying to reason why her and point out she's attacking the problems like a "supremacist" (to quote Zemo). Now, we'll find out if Karli becomes the very thing she's fighting against, supremacy. Now, we'll see how the GRC is dealt with in the last episode.
does the serum make most people evil it's not like the other heroes in the mcu aren't flawed people but they don't go haywire
oh this is what I got confused with AoS Spoiler Aida was Madme Hydra in the virtual reality framework which is who Julia Louise-Dryfuss' character was. It was the purple streak in the hair that got me confused with Victoria Hand. Canon still holds! Anyway, t'heck with it, Batroc the Leaper is back! here's a fun interview with Georges Rush St.Pierre Batorc changed his fighting style after getting whupped by Captain America. and GSP noted him as "the Leaper!" My character is a mercenary who has no morality. When a mission has been given to him, he doesn’t care if it’s good or bad, he just focuses on the objectives, because he wants to be paid. So when you see him fight Steve Rogers, he’s only using savate technique—because he’s a champion of savate and Olympic lifting. That’s why he can jump so high, and he’s called the Leaper. When he fights Steve Rogers, he’s only using savate technique and acrobatic stuff. But when he fights The Falcon in the plane in the first episode, you see him use a technique that we see only in wrestling and jiu-jitsu called a “power double leg takedown slam.” So that means he’s not the same guy. He has improved since the last time we’d seen him. ... I’m not losing! No no no, I escaped! I didn’t lose that fight. And actually, I got the best out of Falcon. I kind of kick his ass. So… ... Then at one point, I threw a punch and he ducked, but I was not able to pull the punch on time, and Anthony, he has so much on his plate—he has all the lines to remember, the choreography, plus his suit, it’s huge. And I was not able to pull the punch on time, and I hit the top of his head with my elbow. But let me tell you something about Anthony Mackie: he’s made out of steel. [Laughs.] He’s a really tough guy. When I hit him, my arm went numb, because it touched my nerve. We were joking about it after, I said, “I think you’re the only guy in my life that I’ve hit, and I got more damaged than the person that I hit.” He’s really a superhero.
That's not as far-fetched as you might think. For years, I've been watching the work of Swiss pilot and skydiver Yves Rossy and the wearable jet-powered wings he builds.
The Wakandans Spoiler I hope the suit in that case has wings but I'd settle for something with vibranium as it would help him against powerful adversaries.
Whatever it is... Spoiler Bucky had to foresight to ask the Wakandans to make it for Sam. And for... Spoiler Sam's old wings. He left in the hands of Joaquín Torres, who I'm sure is going to tinker with in and become the new... Just kidding. But I'm sure he'll make use of the wings...
I do think most of if not all of Karli’s goons and herself die next episode. Sharon who is most likely power broker wants her dead. I think John Walker will stick around. Probably get redeemed Vader style in a sequel to this.
I think the opposite Spoiler Captain America is about being more than just a fighter. It means never giving up. And for Sam, it means using his gift of helping people. We saw him almost break through to Karli. We saw him with Bucky. In order to truly be the next Captain America, it’s going to take some healing for the wounds Walker inflicted. And that starts by peacefully bringing down Karli and the Flashsmashers. He may not save all of them, but I bet he saves a good many while also getting the GRC to come to a better resolution than what they are voting on. Those would be the actions of the next Captain America.
I think at least Karli hits the bucket. Or at least goes to prison forever only to come out when it’s important like Zemo.
Yeah, I feel like Yori gonna be like Tony when he found out that Cap knew that Bucky killed his parents.
One of the more important portions of this episode: Spoiler Confirmation that Steve told Bucky what he was planning to do at the end of Endgame before he did it!
yeah it would be pretty feel-good-predictable if the old man was like 'i knew it all along' and patted his hand 'forgive yourself' no
Would be pretty lame. I want him to say something along the lines of get out of here or something or other. If he forgives him I think that’s to easy an out
