Sorry if this isn't allowed, but I was curious What kind of leaks did we have back in the 90s/2000's for the prequels? Was there anything major, like we had with TFA/TROS?
There were leaks, I know at least one fan site posted leaks about Attack of the Clones and were ordered to remove it by Lucasfilm. And there were lots of completely fake leaks, like SuperShadow, which resembled far fetched fan theories after The Force Awakens. Lucasfilm released a lot of merchandise with details about the plots before the movies released though, like a month prior to release you could buy the screenplay. It wasn’t like The Rise of Skywalker where all the merchandise is stripped of information while the leaks contained the whole plot.
I don't know if it's a "leak" per se but releasing the score to The Phantom Menace two weeks before movie release might be considered one. Especially since one of the tracks is Qui-Gon's Noble End.
I remember him. I was young and naive enough to fall for that back then. Haha yes, I remember reading about that after the fact. Pablo just mentioned on twitter that apparently the storyboards for the Jango/Mace fight were out in the wild, along with a shooting script.

oh my gosh the whole Attack of the Clones synopsis leaked almost a year beforehand. Only difference is there was some reshoots , including the droid factory being added in.
I first started coming to TFN and the boards for Ep2 spoilers. I remember a list of characters and for some reason the thought was each clone had a name with Fett as the last. Like Ambu Fett or something similar. We didn't call them "leaks" back then lol Unless we did and I'm just out of the loop
Yes, members of the official site could have access to Hyperspace, a membership based content for BTS, these were later the webisodes on the DVD's There were many making of books that were released before the movies were. One of these 'The Art Of ROTS' had the full shooting script at the back. Many leaks came from people who had access to the official novelizations months before the movies release date, as such Darth Plagueis was revealed as early as late 2004 if I remember right. As an aside this might interest you: http://www.theforce.net/episode3/jtf/overall.asp As you can see it was last updated: February 2005. Three months before Episode III's release date. Some of the 'facts' well, ended up being rumours or were cut from the finished film. But this should give you some idea what we knew early 2005.
Almost the entire plots of the movies, with the exception of ROTS, were already out there after a few months. At the time of the release there were no surprises anymore.
I remember buying the novelization of TPM at Crown Books and reading it days before the film came out in theaters, it was a different time lol.
I remember buying the novelizations for all three of the prequels before their respective movies came out so i would know what was going to happen. I've always loved me some spoilers. I remember there was a site that reported before Episode II came out that a scene that looked like a wedding was being filmed on Lake Como (which was leaked by people in a boat on the lake), so then there was speculation if it was Anakin and Padme's or not.
Darth Friday leaks were fun back in autumn/winter 2003/2004. Remember people going crazy when it leaked that Anakin would kill Padme by force choking her (31/10/03)
The Prequel boards (for the most part) are still around - they are in the Inactive JC Forum section. You can't post there as the threads are all autolocked but you should be able to read.
Principal photography ended in September 2003, and that's really the period where the most people could witness something or get hold of some material. Afterwards access is limited to those working on scenes (special effects, sound, editing, etc.), and that number is small enough that it gets quite risky to leak stuff.
I want to say I recall Episode II concept art leaking around the summer of 2000 or so. Also a picture of crispy Anakin before the release of Sith. Back when I actually read the front page of theforce.net!
