The Mandalorian Fennec Shand (Spoilers)

Saw someone reddit mention that Fennec was protective of Omega and msybr this creates some bond with Fennec and Boba.she is trying to help his sister, and he saves her as thanks. And they are now allies

 

She was contracted to protect and retrieve Omega. Boba Fett saved Fennec's life many years later, she owed him. Moreover Nala Se is direct league with the Sith Lords, her ulterior motives are still very much up in the air.

In any case, its strange that they'd just would not pay Boba Fett for some DNA. We know other templates for Clones persisted well into the Imperial age, why Jango's DNA and cloning is important to Kaminoans after the war has ended, is still pretty questionable. They could clone any ideal physical specimen.

What makes Omega so valuable may yet to be revealed. But rebooting a clone army of Jango Fett is not any logical "Kaminoan contingency " or course of action since the Imperial army has already begun replacing Clones and we know what occurs after this period.

 

Boba and Fennec would be in totally different places. Boba is what a teenager at this point? i dunno how old fennec is meant to be. it would be abit convenient to suggest they have always had the same relationship.

Obviously fennec was helping Omega for credits. she was hired to do a job and she did it.

 

Even though she did it for credits she seemed to care for Omega.

 

I did find it weird that Tech said that records show Boba disappeared at the beginning of the Clone Wars and that’s all the info they they seemed to knew. Maybe the Kaminoans have the same record and are unaware of where Boba’s been too?

 

I thought Tech must have been looking at the Kaminoans files and not the Republic's with Boba's criminal records. Attempted assassination of Mace Windu and destruction of a Venator class ship killing all but five people on board.

 

I wonder if you can smell Jango and boba's scent there.

It'll be great to see her more fleshed out. I wonder if she sees a little bit of herself in Omega. She's still trying to impart some things to Omega, trying to present herself as helpful, and Omega even calls her out on it. If Fennec sees this solely as a job, I would think that effort is unnecessary. Bane certainly didn't bother, even with the same objective.

 

I couldn't find a separate thread for Fennec within the forums, and figured she might as well have one considering she is a pretty important character in the series.

I just found this video on YouTube. I can say that I was today years old when I found out that Ming-Na Wen played Chun-Li in the LA Street Fighter movie.

Ok well good explanation why I couldn't find the thread; there hasn't been any comments in it since last Summer.

I think every year since it was released I've told myself that I'll watch it, and just forget about it.

 

She also voiced Mulan and Detective Yin from The Batman (2004). Actually, once you start focusing on the voice, it becomes very obvious whenever she shows up.

Now that I think about it... Mulan is actually more of an outlier of her famous roles since Mulan is a bit more comedic and clumsy despite being a badass soldier in the Imperial Army as oppose to a harden badass like Chun-Li, Melinda May and of course, Fennec Shand. Granted, there is Joy Luck Club... but that movie/book never needed action scenes.

 

I knew about Mulan; didn't know about Detective Yin (haven't seen the movie).

 

I hope we get to see her in more full-on action in TBOBF now. Five more episodes to go...

Plus, some more appearances in BB. Fennec's having a busy year.

Good thing.

 

I'm sure she's got some more live-action scenes coming up. Will be tough to beat whooping Cad Bane's ass in animated form.

 

I think we're lacking Fennec scenes with substance. My primary issue with these 30 minute runtime episodes is that I feel like we could get 10 additional minutes to develop Fennec. When Boba is in a bacta tank why don't we see her outside or interacting with the other characters in the palace? That seems like a good place to see where her head is at. I know it's Boba's show but she's the co-star.

Hopefully we get some substantive scenes of her the rest of the season.

 

It would be good to have character scenes happen in the present timeline.

 

It's actually an animated TV show, The Batman that is.

 

Haven't seen that either. The last animated Batman series I watched was the one from the 90s.

 

Fennic may turn out to just not be a very deep character. I mean between three shows and like 30 years distance in the timeline with one Fennic seems exactly the same. Ruthless as needed and only as much guile as it takes to punch hard enough to kick the other guy's ass. It's funny to go back and watch "Cornered" and "Bounty Lost" in The Bad Batch and realize Fennic Shand has been set up to be the kind of character who is just going to outpunch Hunter, Wrecker, and Cad Bane but she's not smarter than any of them and has little emotional intelligence interacting with Omega. Get to The Book of Boba Fett and she's the dragon that out punches whatever. It didn't really take much in the way of brains to decide to open the trap door.

She's really annoyingly arrogant which may be intentional and probably isn't going to change. It's funny when she says the assassin ninjas are an overrate brand because that's exactly where she is. She has been outsmarted at least twice on the screen. I doubt she'll get knocked down a peg unless she really pulls a Heal Face Turn on Boba. What happened to her in "The Gunslinger" episode of The Mandalorian somehow wasn't enough. She may be indebted to Boba but she still thinks she can't kick everyone's ass and talk down to pretty much everyone. But its still believes anyone could just beat her. They can elaborate on her background and motives but I feel the growth potential is limited.
