I know this question has been asked of every young brunette female who has joined the cast for a SW project but…any chance Sophie Thatcher is playing Rey’s mom? Could this be the connection to the ST that ViewerAnon was talking about? Does the timeline even add up?

Yeah, it always annoys me a little when people say Boba didnt do anything, and just got hyped because he looked cool.

Theres an article i can only recommend reading, to understand what happened. It examines in great detail why Boba became such a favourite after ESB:
    https://aarondembskibowden.wordpres...d-to-talk-about-captain-phasma-and-boba-fett/
(the comparison with Phasma is also interesting, but not relevant for the part where it explains the reasons for the hype Boba got)

It was mainly his look, yes. But we had other cool looking characters, and they didnt explode in popularity that much. Just looking cool doesnt get you the hype Boba got after ESB.
It was a combination of his iconic character design AND the integral role he played in the story AND the way other characters interacted with him (most of all Vader himself).

Yes both the wookie scene and the chase scene were forced into the episode without putting any work.

Of course the wookie was not the right fit for the job, and the whole dynamic of the fight makes no sense, starting from the very fact that it managed to get to the main room without anyone noticing.

But it's the chase were the nonsense is most apparent.
The majordomo is fleeing his own office ? Why would he do it?

I don't think they should be so worried about reaching a given action scenes quota every episode. It's not that important. They can make fewer but better.

I think Fett has been portrayed as quite naïve so far. However, I do think that’s somewhat intentional. The mayor seems to know that, with the “There’s more to running a family” comment. The entire series is obviously one big learning curve for Boba. TBF, the title of the series kind of brings that across. At the moment, he now knows that maybe he’s in a little over his head.

Indeed. The mayors toady could've just said, "the mayor's not here" and shown them that in fact the mayor wasn't there. Or he could've skipped the chase and told them right off the bat where the mayor was.

    Instead we got this:

I'm still in "wait and see" mode about this, but yeah, I'm getting a bit concerned. I've just been assuming that Boba had an army of goons behind closed doors, but we haven't seen them due to Covid restrictions, and budget. But, it really IS starting to look like Boba is unprepared, uninformed, and naive about a lot, and has no actual army. It's still possible that he's just playing it really close to the vest, and maybe trying to appear weak to draw out all of his enemies, but if not then this will seriously hurt the show. Unless Boba intends to win by hiring every person on Tatooine.

    Very agreed.

yes it was just so simple. Unless we want to believe that there is no way for the mayor to ever leave his building for any reason .

After rewatching it I rated this episode 6 out of 10. I don't think it's a good episode. Not terrible but just mediocre. I love the Rancor, Hutts and Krrsantan however the implementation of the cyberpunk gang and the chase of the Majordomo were clumsy and in my opinion poor. Just not that well thought out. Also despite the great stuff, the episode just felt disjointed. Like a bunch of scenes put together inorganicly. I ordinarily enjoy Robert Rodriguez's work but based on how far superior the last episode was compared to the two he directed, I gotta say he seemed a little off his game. If the remaining directors have the same problem then perhaps it's a bigger issue.

I also hope the writing has present day Boba cracking some skulls really soon. I was fine with his benevolence in the first 2 episodes and I can rationalize that the reason is because he's changing and he wants to build his crime family, but he's letting a few too many folks get away with snarky remarks without him threatening them all that much. Episode 3 didn't track with what had been going on with him in Mando Season 2.

Rodriguez "isn't a good director"? [face_laugh] Seems a little hyperbolic.

Maybe he's not suited to TV quite so much, but yeah, that blanket statement is something plenty of hardcore film snobs would pretty much disagree with. Guy's always been an important dude on the scene. And while I tend to agree that his two episodes here (and the Mando one) are visually a little blander than some of the other director's eps, his films are generally pretty as all ****.

But yeah, I think he's generally pretty much here for the western & gangster genre cred more than anything, maybe Jon felt he wanted a little more of that flair than he was comfortable with concocting himself. It's some of Robert's weaker directorial work no doubt, but in a broader sense the material here's right up his alley.

They also missed an opportunity to show Fennec as the ruthless assassin she's supposed to be if she killed the toady after he said that the mayor was gone.

Have you ever heard of the white elephant gift? It's a tradition from Southeast Asia.
I wish they'd gone with something more like a 1930 Henderson motorcycle. That could easily become a cool SW speeder bike.

Now that I've watched it multiple times, I think I can more soberly identify the two main issues with it (despite there being some really fun Star Wars stuff in it).

    1. Double-whiplash. In the last episode, we had the really excellent scene of the Hutts flexing their muscle in a dramatic scene on a crowded street (with a killer wookie at their side), and after an extended stay with the Dune Sea tuskens, the episode ended with quite an evocative and powerful dance sequence that seemed to be a precursor for a revolution. Both get undercut right away in this episode, which is really quite deflating. The Hutts say sorry and leave (though yes, I suppose that might not be the end of them, but still), and the Tuskens are...slaughtered. That's it. I imagine it's possible (and perhaps even plausible) that the Tusken Warrior champion will eventually rally all the other Tusken tribes to wage an assault on the syndicates, but for now, that promise was killed dead. After so much time spent getting to know and like the Tuskens, this felt like the showrunners pulling the rug out from under is, and without even any dramatic flair to make it go down better. Disappointing.

    2. Inconsistency of world-building. In the last episode, the show went into perhaps the greatest depth it ever has into an alien culture. In order to gain trust and acceptance from the Tuskens, Boba Fett not only has to launch a complicated assault on the Pykes who were terrorizing the tribe, but he also has to go through a wild spiritual ordeal in the desert - while high - to find a rare tree, survive the ordeal, bring it back, craft a weapon, and then celebrate in a firelit dance. In this episode, some kids are mad because the watermonger is selling water at too high a price and there are no jobs, so Boba Fett offers them a job, and they're immediately the central pillars of his crew on Tatooine, willing to risk their lives by attacking a massive hairy monster that could've easily killed them. In one episode, we get incredible depth and realism in the worldbuilding, and in the next, very shallow, cartoonish worldbuilding. The tonal shift was very jarring.

That said, this is why the episode gets more...enjoyable after the first watch. Going in expecting a totally goofy follow-up to the decidedly non-goofy episode 2, I can accept it for what it is, and enjoy the stuff that was fun. I'm even starting to think that the speeder chase is so hilariously slow that I kind of love it. My feeling is that they were using practical bikes on a small Volume set, and this is responsible for the super-low speed of a lot of shots. And seeing it that way, it's pretty funny. And that's OK.

I just hope episode 4 takes the story just a tad more seriously. Because there are only four episodes left, and the present storyline really needs to kick into gear.

I felt like this was a strong episode

I think the Tusken Raiders being killed off will serve the story well, as well as adding more variety to the flashbacks.

Looks like the Pykes played the Nikto Biker gang against the Tuskens and when Boba likely wipes them out in retaliation there wont be a party left to pay a protection fee to.

Krssantan trying to assassinate Boba was an epic surprise timed at the perfect moment, he felt very threatening. However I do feel like they downplayed his character having him run off when he was freed - it felt unnecasary.

The Hutts gifting Boba a rancor for the palace, but at the same time advising him to leave Tattoine seemed strange. Howver I think it's intentional that a lot of parties are acting shifty because there seems to be a lot going on we are unaware of. It is looking more like Crimson Dawn will show up as the major player.

The cyberpunk gang was a cool idea, but they could have had much cooler designs and throwing in some aliens among them wouldn't have hurt either.

I just hope we get more seasons tbh because this series is too good for just 1 short season.

Kill the toady now, and you'll never find the mayor. First you gotta squeeze out every useful information from that majordomo. And if he proves to be like Bib Fortuna afterwards, then kill him.
