I don't think we're quite finished with flashbaths yet. But they are more likely going to be of the flashback persuasion (e.g., tracking Vanth and Din) and they'll be much shorter, like the Bib shot in this episode.

Boba's not gonna have an army but he'll have some strong hero allies.

    A whole three episodes left!

Apart from the fact that we didn't get a Kamino flashback, I pretty much loved everything about this episode. I guess the seismic charge made up for the lack of Kamino. But to me it's asily the best episode so far.

I suppose the best part was Boba complaining about getting hired by idiots, and of course we know who he's talking about. Ever time we'll watch ESB again, we'll look at the interactions between Boba and Vader, and realize that underneath, Boba's thinking "This guy's a moron."

Second best part: Boba's ship vs. the Sarlacc. Admit it, in terms of blatant fan service, that was better than what any of our inner preteen minds, playing with action figures, could've come up with. I loved how the Sarlacc beak was done, by the way.

Really liked the mod scene too. I did wonder how Boba Fett knew how to find that guy, but I suppose he knew from his days working for Jabba.

I really appreciate that i still don't know where it's all going-there are several options, and at this point it's unclear to me which direction they'll pick. And only three episodes left.

Damn good Jawa juice! And hot!

I really liked when Boba is slaughtering the biker gang he gives Fennec a look like "You got a problem with that?", and she gives him a look like "No, I understand and respect what you're doing and why you're doing it." Nice subtle character moment.

It's a super bizarre story-telling choice. I don't remember of any good movie (comedies excluded) where the audience is asked to indulge in a completely useless scene, while also knowing in advance that it is, indeed, useless. When we follow Finn and Rose we didn't know in advance that they - wait what am I even doing? Mentioning Canto Bight as a positive example ?!

I remember in the first episode people made a point that you couldn't see the sarlacc beak from the special edition. Probably wondering if they chose to ignore it. But this episode shows they didn't ignore it.

    Fun chapter, 8/10.

It's probably the least narratively propulsive of any of the chapters so far, which is a bit surprising that it's the midway point. The final current day sequence could have easily been tacked onto the previous chapter (the dinner table was already set). The flashback sequences were certainly good, although probably the most obligatory business to this point, and I would have liked to see something a bit more dramatic between Boba taking out the Kintan Striders. Perhaps they weren't responsible for the Tusken massacre as we were led to believe, but taking them so quickly was a little too easy.

I find myself more and more enamored with the silly stuff: Boba's bantha bond, hijinks with the droids in the palace, leaning Slave 1 into the maw of the Sarlaac like a bozo, the new rancor giving Boba's dinner guests a good scare.

Well, there goes my theory that it was Dr Mandible that operated on Fennec.

I am amused Boba just decided to wipe the gang out from the air. Brutally efficient - makes me think of something pcs might do in a game actually. Especially in comparison with other star war main characters who never seem to consider using their ships to deal with ground threats, ie Din not mentioning his gunship when talking about taking down the AT-ST.

(Though...it does make me think all the more that the bikers didn't kill the Tuskens, and instead the Pykes sent one of their own gunships, but I do have to admit I am not sure how that would be revealed at this point)

Taking down the sarlacc was a cool sequence too. I mean, it feels a bit weird it can hold down a spaceship given Lando was able to avoid being sucked in when his leg was grabbed, plus I remember the pit having more of an incline), but it was a creepy and intense, and the charge going off underground looked great.

Having the dinner over the rancor pit was a nice power move.

I expected Krrsantan to be back and working for Boba, but this was pretty quick.

Similarly, I was more expecting Din to make a brief cameo in the last episode to help set up the next season of Mando, but it sounds like we might get him sooner - should be interesting, especially given how Bo-Katan made a point of not being for hire in Mando season 2 and Din having sworn to help her in exchange for saving Grogu.

I also expect everything to go very wrong in the next episode or 2 to set up a dramatic finale, but I have no idea in what way yet.

I agree it would make more sense for it to be her instead of the one that sounds nothing like her from the cantina.

Yeah I didn't mind the sarlacc pit scene but also you could take take it out and the story would be the same. There's no need for it. It really does feel like they just thought it would be more fun to show the sarlacc pit getting blown up than watching Boba asking jawas if they had his armor.

Also I love that Boba tells Fennec that all the crime bosses that he's worked for were idiots and yet he waltzes into town with no muscle and no real plan and expects everybody to kiss his feet. Plus getting your spaceship all up in the sarlaac's biz to look for your armor is super dumb!

Trust me it's deliberate. His stupidity will be an important element in future episodes, as it has been so far. Fennec is the rational mind that is necessary to prevent Boba from getting himself killed while he keeps doing dumb things.

It's like Goku in Dragonball. There is a general consensus among fans that he's not very sharp, and the same can be said here.

The wookie ripping the Trandoshan's arm off so easily begs the question why he couldn't do the same with Boba.

An interesting thing about the use of drum & bass in the mod parlor, is there's a D&B musician who goes by the name of Spring Heel Jack. There's also a ska band out of Connecticut who call themselves Spring Heeled Jack, and ska being a genre popular amongst mods.
Not to be confused with the Victorian entity known as Spring-heeled Jack.

Love the continued retconning of the negative tropes used (Tuskens, Krrsantan, and now the Firespray class ship).

    F&F know what they're doing.

Definitely reflects Krrsantan has been a gladiator and not the bounty hunter background in the comics. Any SW bounty hunter would have killed Boba while he was in the tank.

Actually hoping it's a situation of the guys didn't even do it, like it's not even that the Pykes hired these guys for a hit, but the Pykes did it with their own guys and just framed the Niktos with the graffiti.

Boba needs to be roughed up a bit. Yeah, the Niktos are douchewizard supremes, but the newer nicer Boba probably wouldn't kill them over thieving & roughing people up alone. Really hope they're 'innocent' and he wasted them all for nothing, and he doesn't care, restore a bit of that grey area with the dude.

It's clear from Chewie in Solo, as well as today's episode, that there's very little you can do in terms of fighting back. The way they take your arms look effortless to them.

They’re strong yes but not invincible. Boba was fighting dirty to stay alive. Biting him and stabbing him with his Gaffi stick. And still Krrsantan was able to grab him and nearly crush the life out of him.

You know what else was great in this episode? The pans and wipes. I underestimated just how crucial well done pans and wipes were to the visuals of SW until they returned with a vengeance this episode.

    Ok, my thoughts!

Boba and the bantha were fantastic.

"Go, find other banthas, make baby banthas!"

    The mando theme!

    The modding sequence was cool.

The whole thing in the palace was fantastic, i loved grevious chef.

The easy wipe out of the striders was so satisfying.

The sarlacc sequence was cool. I was thinking oh, that's a pity it's ye olde no special edition sarlacc. Nope! good ol beaky :D

    And the seismic charge! :D

    Drunk Krrsantan was terrifying.

Ok, the whole hired muscle thing Fennec said at the end. I'm thinking we're getting Din, but here's my hope. Boba is going to hire all of the empire strikes back hunters ( including bossk! :D)

    Overall, great episode :D

Oh I thought you were going to say you were a bounty hunter and then quit after they left you for dead at some desert in North Africa
The only word I could think of when she first appeared was "captivating" and I think that's the only word that can describe Jennifer Beals as Garsa Fwip and her performance now. All the scenes with her brief appearance have been great so far.
I don't buy it, but we can move on :p Robert Rodriguez had a lot of beautifully-shot (as you would say) scenes both in last week's episode, and the season premiere and in "The Tragedy"

The first 10 minutes of last night's episode were a visual orgasm for prequel lovers such as myself. And as someone else said, it makes the Galaxy bigger. As for the techno music, it was 100% consistent with the scene and Ludwig Goransson's music in certain scenes in The Mandalorian. The perfect choice for score if you ask me. If I watched that scene with different music now, it would be so much worse.

Don't get me wrong. I loved the imagery in the sequence - particularly the mid-shot of the Firespray hovering above the sarlacc pit. Great cinematography here. I was just nit-picking the storytelling utility and logic of it.
