I think they might have season 4 of Mandalorian set up things the New Republic show would have done.

If it’s a movie, I don’t think they’ll be able to get away with shooting it in The Volume. Or maybe they will, and it’ll make a billion dollars lol.

Movies derived from shows nearly always dumb things down, so I really don’t want them to do that. But we’ll see.

Depends one what they want to make the setting. The ringworld in this last episode used Volume and practical set building excellently and on the par for a big budget Star Wars movie, as we’ve seen before.

Match the right cinematic techniques with the right imagination, and you can use Volume and a Tv budget to easily match most Star Wars movies.

What are the shows that would be crossing over? The Mandalorian, Ahsoka Tano and...Boba Fett?

    As of now, yes.

There *are* ways that Andor or even The Acolyte could connect to it, as background and backstory.

Not to mention that Obi-Wan Kenobi shares at least one actor/character with Ahsoka, so there could definitely be some connections there as well.

It will be interesting to see what happens. One thing though is I really don't see any of these individual shows going for more then three or four seasons. For starters having long running series often isn't financially viable for streaming platforms and there also is a lot of other things they can do within the Star Wars universe. I think it is entirely possible season 3 could be the final one for Mandalorian.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if they are doing a post Rise of Skywalker series by 2027 or perhaps a series set in the distant past.

Giancarlo Esposito more or less said it’d be 3-4 seasons long in an interview so it’s lining up.

The Mandalorian has set up such a rich and dense story to pursue, that I really hope they don’t rush to end it in 3 seasons. They should take their time with this one. I could easily see 6-8 seasons.
    When?

@Bor Mullet he said it prior to season 2 starting

    https://screenrant.com/mandalorian-season-4-plans-teased-giancarlo-esposito/

He didn't technically officially say it was ending after season 4 but he did say that season 3 and 4 were going to be when the big reveals happen.

The issue with streaming shows lasting as long as traditional popular cable and network shows do is unlike them they aren't getting ad money. The money the show makes for them is dependent on the number of new sign ups it brings. And probably after three seasons or so it has brought in the vast majority of new sign ups as it can bring.

Now I am sure many of these characters stories will be picked up by newer shows. But I think three or four seasons will more times than not be the cap for what one individual show gets.

Just thinking about the villain situation here, and what type of “Alliance of Evil” could occupy multi0e series on different levels.

Grand Admiral Thrawn - Overall Big Bad.

The Hutts and the Twins/Crimson Dawn and Q’ira - the underworld allies for Boba to face?

Bariss Offee/Nightsister/Sith Cultist - the dark sider for Ahsoka?

Gideon/Imperial Super Commandos/Mandalorian Traitor - Din’s rival for the throne?

I see all this like setting up a chessboard. We have some pieces but the queen, king maybe the rook are missing. Over time we will get all these pieces and everything will move into position for the finale or to borrow from the MCU the Endgame. How long that takes is pure speculation. Favreau and filoni will want this done right and I have every faith it will be. It wont be rushed.

Long term and I mean maybe 10 years we may get a new trilogy set either post ST or KOTOR era. And it all begins again.

If they’re building up to a Thrawn adaptation I think that could easily carry a trilogy of films with the Ghost crew as the main characters.

Do we know for sure that show is cancelled? It's so hard to keep track of what projects are on, which have been cancelled, and what has been confirmed vs. what is just rumour these days.

I don't think they'll need to shoot a Mando movie in the volume if they decide to make one. I imagine it would be made in a more traditional way like Disney's other Star Wars films. One of the advantages of having part of the Mando story take place on film is that it would allow a greater scale. When we finally get the battle for Mandalore, I don't want the fate of the planet to be decided by a skirmish between five Mandos, one Jedi, and ten stormtroopers. ;)

I don't think that has to be the case here. If they were to do a movie, or a bunch of movies, I imagine it would take the place of a season of television, continuing Mando's story. I guess the danger is Disney wanting to make it accessible to those who haven't been following the show, but if the movies revolve around a single event (e.g. the battle for Mandalore) that might not be as hard as it seems.

It’s just such a shame that Cara Dune happened to be played by someone who was a terrible actor AND a belligerent right-wing meathead. The Mandalorian is such a good show, but when she’s on screen it feels like an action figure from He-Man got dropped into it. Just imagine that role had gone to Ming-Na Wen. We’d have a show centered on the New Republic helmed by her on the way. The lesson is…hire actors to act, not prize fighters.

I really don't get the issue with her acting. I get the issues with her real life views but her character was a big and good part of The Mandalorian in my opinion. My only ever issue with her character was seemingly having no idea who Luke was given she fought in the same rebellion but that isn't on the actor.

And the rumours with Rangers were that it was more based around Cobb Vanth than Cara Dune.

The issue with her acting is that it was abysmal. One to two expressions, flat delivery, smiling oddly when lines don’t call for it. It’s hard to explain bad acting though. It’s just…obvious. I felt that way before I knew anything about her political views.

And no, there were no credible rumors of Cobb Vanth leading the Rangers show. It was clear with Cara Dune’s path in S2 of Mando that she was on the path to being central in a new show.
