Thanks for the technical explanation, @jcgoble3 ! So if the software running the boards doesn't support 16 bit emojis, then a possible solution would be to have emoticons for those boxes called "[green_box]" and "[yellow_box]" right? @JoinTheSchwarz did mention an expanded roster so hopefully these are included, if not, it would be great if they could be added. I believe @Darth Punk volunteered to help with this effort in the 2nd post here so I appreciate you spearheading this.
The issue is that since the boards don't support those emoji, they just vanish upon pasting. There is no way to make those emoji automatically convert to your proposed emoticons. One would have to manually recreate the Wordle results by hand by typing or clicking one emoticon at a time, which is kind of a solution but not a very useful one.
Yes, ideally a copy/paste would be great, but you said the board doesn't support it so I get that's why they're vanishing. And since there is no way to convert the code to an emoticon then I'm proposing the only solution would be to have those boxes as emoticons, even though it would be a manual process, but at least it would look better than this for example: ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜⬜⬜ ⬜
Thanks for the update. Is there an ETA? If I can assist in anyway, I'd be happy to do any leg work or code testing.
@A Chorus of Disapproval Congrats on your promotion to head admin. In my OP, two years ago today, I was inquiring about the 8 "broken" emojis and I was informed that they will eventually be fixed as well as an expansion of the emoji roster. Is this something on your radar? Any chance we'll see an update before the end of the year? Thank you!
The only emoji we will put any effort into is a smiley where flames pop up around it and it drops down through a portal into hell.
I think it would be nice to have all the emojis working so if that could be phase 1, and then a roster update later could be phase 2. If the roster update fixes/replaces the broken ones and can be done in one phase that would also be great. I think all the users would appreciate it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Your passion for this important issue is appreciated, Tony. Our New Years Resolution will be to fix these some time before the forums cease to exist.
I haven’t looked at the emojis menu in so long I didn’t even realize some of them were broken. who can forget. And my favorite
We are currently in the process of addressing what could be the issue with the broken emojis. We have no present plans to add more emojis.
In the grand scheme of the JC, broken emojis are the most minor of petty annoyances. Not even a first world problem, more like zero world problem. Thanks for propping up this house of cards we call home, DITD.
