I've known that since like 1998 but I'm a tremendous Alien nerd.

Ok so it was the original movie; but if it's been known for awhile, why is it just making headlines as a revelation now?

I see that come up on occasion. It's an obscure piece of film lore that sometimes surfaces.

It wasn't in the original movie. It was in the writeups on the original movie's characters drafted for the debriefing scene in Aliens – and only actually properly visible in the transcribed version of those debriefs in the DVD bonus features, at that.

It was also posted on 20th Century Fox's official Alien page back in around 1997-98, which is where I remember learning Ripley was born in a colony on Earth's moon, as well.

I first started using the internet at that time, and it was a feast for my Alien fanaticism. I printed out screenplays to Alien and Aliens, learned about Gibson's Alien 3 script, and iirc even read Whedon's Alien Resurrection's script before the movie came out. The Anchorpoint Essays fan site was like the greatest thing for me ever.

One of my first interneting 90s experience was reading the Alien vs. Predator script actually so yah Alien, Star Trek and Star Wars fandom had it rolling online in the 90s.

It's not a "just now" thing. I've seen people in the fanbase talking about it for at least a couple years.

So maybe somehow the Big Wheel Kid Survived

I mean, Lydecker could have just fed him to the bugs out of spite ("I told you kids you're not allowed up here!"). Or it's just one of Danny Torrence's dreams and they're having a race. But also imagine Big Wheel Kid just rolling along out into LV-426 and never stopping off to freedom (And, uh, outrunning a nuclear explosion the size of Nebraska too). Or he just blows past Ripley in the APC. "Big Wheel Kid, you're blown the transaxle. You're just grinding plastic! Ease down!"

The Alien RPG (I'm reading their latest supplement, Heart of Darkness, right now and it's amazing) has an adventure in the Main Rulebook where
you play a group that was sent out to the boonies just before the settlement on LV-426 is overrun, and a W-Y team arriving ahead of the marines gives an opportunity for some of the inhabitants to escape. Or not. The Cinematic rules of Alien are brutal.

Last night I played the Alien 3 light gun arcade game from the 90's. It's pretty cool.

I think the Alien game I played most was Aliens versus Predator Exstinction. A Real Time Strategy Game.

It was fun being Xenomorphs. I liked the Carrier Alien that could carry face huggers on its back and launch them on hosts.

    That’s a good one.

I love how Xenos get different names.

    Kane’s Son
    Perfect Organism
Thing That killed my whole crew
    Xenomorphs
    Dragon
    Alien

Alien TV show Tidbits! Not Weyland-Yutani! (although they get referenced) Way to keep it's continuity box separate from whatever the Prometheus / Covenant story is I'd wager

As for Alien, Hawley has turned in all his scripts for the show and it will start shooting in 2023. Hawley has previously said the project is set on Earth sometime this century and doesn’t have the characters associated with the films (well, not the human ones anyway). “The alien stories are always trapped … trapped in a prison, trapped in a spaceship,” Hawley said in a previous interview. “I thought it would be interesting to open it up a little bit so that the stakes of ‘What happens if you can’t contain it?’ are more immediate.”

Asked if the Weylan-Yutani corporation is the show’s focus, Landgraf says, “The Alien cinematic universe is that it’s a world where that’s sort of dominated by large corporate entities, and Weylan-Yutani has been an important component of the movies. There are references to that corporation in this show. But it actually takes place in the territory of a different corporation that Noah invented.”

The executive went on to compare the series to the first two Alien films, both of which were critical and box office hits with their own uniquely creative approaches.

“I’m a big fan of Alien and Aliens, and I remember watching both of them in the theater and how shockingly original and surprising each of them was in its own way,” Landgraf says. “And so, similar to his approach to Fargo, Noah decided not to take Ripley or any character from Alien — except perhaps the xenomorph itself — but go back and figure out what made the franchise so great and so durable in the first place and see if he could find an experience that felt like walking into a theater and seeing one of those first two movies, where you get caught off-guard. That’s all I can say at this point, though.”

I really wish we could get another AVP game. AVP 1999, AVP 2, And AVP 2010 were such a blast to play.

I like Noah Hawley, but this seems redundant. It's like making a Star Wars film during imperial times, and saying "This happens in a territory where ANOTHER fascist regime is in charge. But we reference the Empire." o_O

tru dat, I just think by going with a new corporation to keep continuity free landmines of what happens in Prometheus / Covenant / Alien / Aliens / Alien 3 which are Weyland-Yutani focused. And remember that eventually even the mighty Weyland-Yunati are bought out themselves hundreds of years later, so other Evil Corporations do exist. (I think there was a reference to it actually being WalMart somehow)
