At first I was kind of concerned as well, but I've come around. It isn't a big deal.

Another strong episode. Gave it a 9 out of 10 ranking.

Some heartwarming interaction between Leia and Obi-Wan throughout the episode. I especially loved the conversation between Obi-Wan and Leia about how the Force feels and Leia's gratitude to Obi-Wan for fixing her droid was a highlight for me as well. For some reason, that really resonated with me. Reminded me of how Leia is about the same age as Anakin when Obi-Wan met him for the first time and became his Master. I wonder if that thought crossed Obi-Wan's mind. Also, these gentle bonding moments between Leia and Obi-Wan make me understand why Leia might've named her son Ben in the New Canon because she knew him as Ben Kenobi and he was a hero to her when she was young. Leia continues to be very keen and perceptive about things like Obi-Wan knowing her biological mother as well. She is just such a clever and endearing child.

Vader was very menacing. The deep breathing. The characteristic threats like "If you fail, you won't live to regret it." Classic Vader. So in keeping with why he reached iconic villain status.

I thought the duel between Obi-Wan and Vader was satisfying. Vader is very brutal and cunning in his fighting style (reminded me of how he behaves in the Cloud City duel actually) and very focused on revenge. Whereas Obi-Wan probably hasn't been keeping up on his sword fighting too much on Tatooine, and his main objective was really to create a distraction so Leia could have cover to escape. So his focus wasn't so much on winning as it was saving Leia. Which meant I didn't feel he was a coward at all. I just felt he was doing what he believed he had to do to save Leia. He was being selfless like a true Jedi. While Vader, in Sith fashion, was fixated on vengeance.

I liked the warehouse where Obi-Wan and Leia were hidden. It had shades of the Underground Railroad about it.

Biggest issue I had was Obi-Wan talking to Leia about his Jedi past in the back of a vehicle of a farmer he knows to be sympathetic to the Empire. Um, now would not be a good time to blow your cover by yammering on about your Jedi past to the girl you are pretending is your daughter, Obi-Wan. So, yeah, I liked the conversations between Obi-Wan and Leia overall, but for some of their dialogue in the back of the farming vehicle, I had to suspend my disbelief or just assume that Obi-Wan had taken temporary leave of his senses.

Still, that is a relatively minor quibble, which is why the episode gets a 9 out of 10 ranking from me.

It really ends on a solid cliffhanger too, so I can't wait for the next episode!

Because of his incomplete training, Qui-Gon is very limited where he can even manifest his voice. Yoda barely heard him in a dream on Corusant and had to travel to Dagobah for Qui-Gon to freely speak to him.

It’s later proven on The Clone Wars that it really was Qui-Gon who appeared to Obi-Wan and Anakin on Mortis. Not a trick like Shmi Skywalker. We also learned it was Ahsoka from the future using the world between worlds communicating backwards through time with herself.

I think it has to do with Star Wars’ popularity when most people used the internet for the first time in the late 90s. Star Wars news was a reason a lot of people first regularly went online. It did something that froze OT fans mentality online to that time period - so that of someone in their late teens and early 20s.

I’ve seen perfectly sensible adults who were 90s Star Wars fan revert back to their late high school and college selves at the mention of the prequels. That passion runs deep.

The blatant racism part is something that happened much later. I don’t remember that in the lead up to TPM.

What’s with the 58% audience rating for Obi-Wan on Rotten Tomatoes. I find that very hard to believe. It’s lower than Book of Boba Fett right now.

I gave it a 10 as I have the first two episodes. I can’t think of a single thing I disliked about it. Just a brilliant piece of television. Darth Vader’s return… I mean what can I say?

My guess it's internet trolls who hacked the site. A similar thing happened with The Rise of Skywalker.

My favorite thing in the series, maybe the only creative decision I've liked, is Obi-Wan's hallucination of cloaked Anakin watching him. I feel like that little element is a piece of a much better written series that we'll never get to see.

Yeah, but Qui-Gon's been doing Force crunches since then. Jogging, chasing chickens, eating raw eggs, he's all trained up.

The RT audience score isn't hard for me to believe, this production just doesn't look high-budget, and the writing is very uninspired. The cinematography struggles to capture gravitas of characters too. That said, there is plenty to like as well, Obi-wan and Leia are delightful, Bail is noble and tragic, and there's plenty of Vader content. Makes sense that it would have a mixed reception, considering these are major OT characters being played with.

Star Wars: Resistance's RT score on the other hand was genuinely suspicious imo. Page after page of 5 star scores without comment, from accounts only a day or two old . . .

I know many people have complained about the music, but John Williams has not been used for any D+ show, if I’m not mistaken? The new composers have used intro bits and pieces to iconic songs but I can’t recall a JW piece.

For this episode, I really do wish though the Imperial March was used!

Leia seemed to get excited when Luke said I am here to rescue you I got your droids and Ben Kenobi is with us, paraphrasing but she perked up at Ben Kenobi's name may be she remembered him?

good points I agree with both of you!

ok , this show doesn't do well with re-watches.

the trooper says they're looking for "a jedi" . so they must've been given some directive, the minimum being : "bearded guy in a robe with a little girl ."

and yet they don't seem to recognise this very obvious picture.

BUILDER: Why do you want this view of the lava?

VADER: Because some day soon I will find my former Master and watch him burn right there in that lava from my throne.

BUILDER: A throne? We didn’t have a throne in the contract.

VADER: I have altered the deal. Pray I don’t alter it further.

Stromtroopers are pretty consistently not the brightest in Star Wars, though. Same as they are usually quite bad at hitting their targets.

Er...I don't like that. Don't get me wrong, I'm thoroughly enjoying this series. My favorite new SW content since RO. But I see nothing good coming from a second season. It might be pushing the canon to the breaking point. Quit while you're ahead.

    Hope this isn't true.
