At one point during this I thought Skeen was going to be the guy who turns Judas during the mission, but by the end of the episode I didn't think that was so likely.

The TIE fighter sequences in this and the previous ep make me think a lot of footage I've seen of fighter jets flying through the "Mach Loop" training area in the mountains of Wales. To wit:

I had a beach vacation where an air show happened directly parallel to where I was staying over the ocean and beach. It was so loud it would shake the hotel. The jets would come in very quiet and the instant they passed zip away to bone rumbling roar.

My thought was I’d hate to be the enemy having to fight these. It would be terrifying every time they passed and you’d never know if they were going to drop bombs or what.

This series is doing a great job capturing the terror and threat. And TIE Fighters can turn on a dime and even hover. What a dangerous craft to have after you.

I also really loved the line about how the Empire is committing so many atrocities, which makes it more difficult to fight any single one of them. Very true. Resonates.

Another, superb episode. We have met the characters, now lets see them being developed, what's making them all tick, why are they putting their lives at risk for a cause.

Syril - he's got a serious problem with Cassian....that's going to be a really great storyline. Hi mother was a great part of this episode!

Didn't see it coming that Mon Mothma had a daughter. Her story is intriguing, to put it mildly!

There were rumors this first season was structured as 4 (3 episode) acts. Clearly so, to this point. The first three episodes set the scene, culminating in the brilliant episode 3, and the end of the first act. Episode 4 sets up Act 2, Episode 5 develops the characters who lost a lot (Syril), may lose a lot (the rebel group), Mon Mothma and Luthen.....clearly next weeks episode will be action packed to end act 2.

I'm absolutely loving this show, and when its finished airing, I cant wait to sit down and watch the whole thing in one sitting!

Very enjoyable episode. Great character development and I'm very intrigued on the path Mama's boy will be taking.

-1 for skipping that dinner party. Violation of the rule of "Chekhov's gun".
Definitely setting up for some fireworks next episode (or so they tease. still irked about not seeing Sly Moore).

Why are people crapping on Papa Mothma? The man has lots of responsibilities, including raising their daughter. He's entitled to be a bit frustrated. We all know Mon turns into the admired rebellion leader later, but for now, she has a responsibility, nay, a duty, to take care of her husband. Squeezing out a kid for the cause doesn't eliminate your wifely obligation to take care of your husband on a regular basis. For those slower than normal, yes, I'm speaking of intimacy. There, I said it. Mon Mothma is a prude and it's destroying her marriage in this galaxy far, far away.

Another "slow burn" episode, this wasn't what I was expecting months ago when they started the trailers, but I'm liking it. Still in contention for best live-action show imo.

    The Good
    • Syril and his mom: best written scene of the show so far, spicy, hilarious, very in-universe, and elegantly shot. Kathryn Hunter is excellent, hope we haven't seen the last of her. Exploring contrasts of class-strata on Coruscant is beginning to pay dividends for the story.
    • The Imperials: Dedra doesn't have much to do this time, but the internecine rivalries and patronage is intriguing. Ever since I read the Heir to the Empire trilogy back in the day I've wondered what it would look like to have a show focused on the bad guys, and I have to admit this one feels alright. It hasn't escalated to the inevitable crises that make the concept exciting, but we're getting there and the characters are interesting.
    • Cinematography and visual effects: This show looks great, Coruscant looks great, the ships and animated landscapes look great, the props, costumes, and especially the elaborate sets all look great. Can't wait for the action to kickoff, I think we'll be in for a treat.
    The Bad
    • Aldani Rebels: I hate to say it but the writing falls flat here and drags things down. When you get one of those campfire scenes where you know the guy is gonna sip from a nasty canteen and then slap it in his homie's chest a full 10 seconds before it happens . . . they ran out of ideas here. The mousy manifesto kid is a little too cringey and doesn't quite mesh with the vibes. He should be writing propaganda for the Holonet, or handing out pamphlets, or learning how have a coherent conversation about politics. The writers wanted to have a student/revolutionary-type character in the mix, and to their credit at least they realized more personality was needed in this plot-line, but it just doesn't work. None of the others are particularly interesting, compared to the scrappers and smugglers of Ferrix, the shepherds of Aldani just don't feel like they're part of Star Wars, they could be in Divergent or some other post-apocalyptic-y show and you wouldn't notice.
    The Ugly
    • Mon Mothma's daughter: what an annoying little twerp, doesn't she realize how good she's got it? You're grounded young lady, and no Holonet for a week!! :p

I think he was supposed to be cringey, he was political idealist after all. He should definitely be writing propaganda for holonet but he tries to do his part on field since he is so naive he thinks he can do it. Maybe he eventually can, but he needs some lesson in realism first. Entire point of his character is that he is in the wrong place trying to be hero. I actually like him much better than Timm and Bix as characters. And Brasso was not established much at all. I do agree that Aldhani part feels less Star Wars though than Ferrix, but it is the location to me more than characters. After this week's episode I think they established Aldhani rebels very well. Ferrix Scrappers however are totally empty as characters to me. I expect we return to Ferrix soon though so there is time to develop them more. Only Maarva and B2 are interesting characters on Ferrix anymore.

All of what you mentioned, would have made the episode better without doubt.
They were not necessary, but they would still have improved the episode.

This new episode does shed some bad light on Mon Mothma. At worst she been an absent mother and has barely been with her. Her Daughter dosent like her too mutch.

No it doesn't. Her husband is clearly influencing her daughter's anger toward her mother which is just ****** on his part. But her daughter is also a teenager and teenagers often get mad at their parents and say mean things. This doesn't make them bad parents.

Maybe Mon Mothma dislikes her daughter because she reminds her of her husband so much. That certainly is interesting revelation. Mothma is focusing on helping others far away so maybe she neglects people who are actually close to her and that is her blind spot. Sure it might be just teen-age rebellion. LOL rebellion is certainly common to mother and daughter then.
Hard to say if daughter's anger is justified. I think it might partially be. Mon may have no time to both her work and to her family.

To me it seems she is mutch closer to her father then her mother. And she been absent with her causes. There seems to be anger at Mon, some influence maybe. Mon Mothma might not been the best parent.
