So while I’ve read the story, I don’t remember the details so I’m generally avoiding spoilers. But I think I know what you’re referencing here so I’ll chance it just the once…

Yes, I think that’s exactly where my mind was going too. I don’t know if they’ll follow up on it but it would make a good deal of sense.

I don’t remember when that scene happens though so I’m bowing out of the discussion for now.

She's the Queen Consort. She has influence but no real power of her own.

Larys is also the Master of Whisperers aka the official chief of intelligence.

What i thought was going to happen to Aegon:

He was going to take the crown upon his head, then take out the knife the Queen gave him, and kill himself right there at the coronation.

So, Rhaenys decided not to kill them all right there. She probably should have. I mean hell, she killed a bunch of innocent subjects, but can't kill the usurpers?

Gee, I thought Larys was just useful to the Queen. Turns out, well, I mean, this little piggy went to market, etc.

Going to be interesting to see if she regrets that choice and how much time she spends trying fighting to get back to a similar opportunity.

If this was Tolkien her act of mercy would somehow be later rewarded. Here it will probably be the death of her and her grandchildren.

Why wasn’t little bastard Targaryen fighting with the other boys? Was he still waiting for his turn at the nails and teeth sharpening salon?

    That would make sense.

Though there’s also potential Blood and Fire spoilers…:
He could be Gaemon Palehair, a character of minor importance, who’s backstory *is* that he’s a claimed bastard son of Aegon II

One was Erryk and the other was Arryk. I honestly don’t think it matters which one is which. All that’s important is they end up on opposite sides of the conflict.

You know Deamon’s wife Rhenerya Tigerarien.

I refuse to learn how to spell these characters names. Not even going to try. Eventually some of them will be correct.

All the shifting alliances are hard to keep track of, that’s for sure. I think the one who walked away was the one who rescued Rhaenys later. But I could be wrong there.

Is it possible Rhaenys didn’t fry the Hightower targaryians because she’s playing the Game of Thrones and sees civil war as opening an opportunity for her to finally seize the throne?

Let her rivals destroy and weaken each other to her advantage?

That’s not what she wants. Also, her 2 descendants are betrothed to marry the princes of one side.

Any ways, what are the other major houses up to at this time?

-Arryns gave us Aemma (Rhaenyra’s mother) but were upset with Daemon killing his first wife
-Baratheons were loyal to Rhaenys but have been quiet for a while
-Lannisters quietly siding with the Hightowers

-Dorne and the Martells are still independent at this time

-nothing on the Greyjoys so far
-nothing on the Tyrells so far
-nothing on the Tully’s so far
-nothing on the Starks so far

I bet there was a fair bit of corpsing during the foot-fettish scene.

So how many people did she kill with her dragon in that church ? And what was the point?
