Animated Shorts Official *Tales of the Jedi* Discussion Thread

I prefer Episodes 2, 3, and 6 myself, but I think they wanted to feature Anakin, and how was tricky.

 

So seen them all.
The Ahsoka episodes I found incredibly boring (Baby Ahsoka riding a Saber Tooth Tiger ) and wasted a good villain design in 6 too.
I also found the "they said you were dead" by the Inquisitor unintentionally giggle worthy. Really Ahsoka is that awesome they know her by reputation alone. She of course will then sit out and do nothing during the OT events because it wouldn't be fair on Luke I guess. Dave does love his characters What Dave doesn't realise though is that on her own Ahsoka isn't terribly interesting. Only in regards her relationship to Anakin is she interesting

The Dooku episodes were slightly better albiet needed some rewrites. The Yaddle episode was the best though she comes across as an idiot for not warning the Council right away she's found the other mysterious Sith they were looking for .

Also a series about Dooku and Ahsoka doesn't work thermatically as there is no real comparison between the 2 which there needs to be if your making a show about just 2 characters.

Ahsoka definitely could be interesting on her own, given the right story.

 

I have negative feelings towards this show. The reason being, that I loved it so much that I wish we had 100 episodes of that, not just 6.

 

Count Dooku did nothing wrong.

Typical of the Council to repeat their stupidity: they sent only 2 Jedi against that Sith and 1 went alone against those 2 Sith!

 

Dooku was weak......

 

I thought he had the strongest arch. I loved seeing his descent into darkness.

 

No, Anakin was just stronger.

Yaddle acknowledged the shortcomings of the Council and even resigned her seat on it. The Council you see is as authoritarian as Palpatine.

Windu especially was wicked. Telling Dooku his methods were wrong, when it lead to his elevation to Council Member? I have always felt Windu is power hungry. He is a hypocrite, says Dooku’s methods are wrong, yet uses wrong methods of ‘justice’ just like Dooku in Palpatine’s office in ROTS.

At least The Sith aren’t hypocrites, they say they want power.

 

Arc is good the character is weak. He goes for the devil.

 

Well at least they show how you get to the devil, disillusionment with the so called ‘good’ institutions.

Dooku’s “Its too late,” line and delivery to Yaddle was so similar to Kylo Ren’s “It’s too late,” in The Force Awakens.

Rewatched Ahsoka vs Plagueis.. cough.. Nihilus.. cough.. Inquistor and I agree now, its an epic fight.

 

Watched them all this morning and I’m a massive fan.

Star Wars animation remains to be a tremendous way of telling stories and fleshing out the Star Wars universe. I’d love to see more of this style of short anthology throughout the saga. While I thought that Dooku’s episodes were amazing, I’d love to see some stories in the future that actually paint Jedi in a good light again.

The episode with Yaddle was excellent. Nice to get an introduction to her and finally find out why she was no longer on the council by AOTC. Now we’ve seen more of what Dooku’s motivations were for leaving the Jedi, I’d love to see more of when he first gets in contact with Palps

The first Ahsoka episode HAS to mean something. I refuse to believe that Filoni wanted that episode in there without there being some deeper meaning and or possibly a means to foreshadow how she eventually meets her end. I personally don’t know what that would entail, but just a feeling I got.

Great to see Qui Gon as always. That’s another thing I’ve always wanted to see more of. Dooku’s teachings of Qui Gon as a padawan. While it was touched on here I’d love to see more of how his influence left Qui Gon being the less rigid, more whimsical Jedi of the era

Thoroughly enjoyed each and every bit of it

 

I have to say these shorts made me convert to TCW. Which is a big deal if you know how opposed to TCW/Rebels I was.

 

I think the first episode simply mirrors the last episode. In the first, we have mother and child (Ahsoka) going to get food in the wilderness, and are met with danger. Baby Ahsoka manages to quell the beast and returns safely to the village. She then begins her Jedi training. In the last episode, Ahsoka and female villager go into the wilderness, or the next town over or whatever, to sell their work and when they return home, face danger. Ahsoka, now a properly trained Jedi, quells this beast as well. Ahsoka then realizes she still has more work to do as a force user/former Jedi.

I think that's it basically.

 

Have you started watching them?

 

Not yet. But having Dooku and Ahsoka’s backstories, I can jump in more invested.

 

Absolutely do, you'll love it. I'd say you should start with the clone wars movie.

 

I saw that one in theaters.

 

It has been a little while since then

 

I was shocked when Ahsoka stabbed Anakin in the Chiss and shouted, “Skyguy! Die! I am not Snips!”

 

I have some fondness for the clone wars movie.

 

In wake off episode 6. Seems there been some small backlash on twitter against Filoni for him not doing the Ahsoka book faithfully.

 

Was it really the book adapted? I haven’t read it.
