Thought Benjamin Carons directing was brilliant. Pacing, transitions, tension. Framing of action, close ups of people in real danger. Britell`s soundtrack a stand out as well. John Williams will forever be the sound of the main Skywalker Saga, but its time for Star Wars to explore a change in how music can define characters, worldbuilding and atmosphere. Just the short brutalism architecture buildings clip from Coruscant we got here, Britells synth cascades was made for this. The way the «funeral band» was used as a tool of the dramatic structure, was so effective.

The whole episode was built around the funeral, almost like a classic heist set up - maybe, just maybe i would have wanted some surprise twist and turns for some of the main characters. Not like shock twists, but take Luthen - he became more like a spectator here and the somewhat predicted ending with him and Cassion bonding again not really offering a cliffhanger or huge set up for season 2. Many of us had predicted him going out with a bang this episode, but i am glad we get more Stellan of course.

That reveal at the end draws a nice parallel between Cassian and Krennic as well now that I think about it.

I wonder if we might see a link to Rebels here with Ferrix. What I mean by that is, if you remember, once the Rebels overthrew Thrawn and his occupation, they were worried there would be a reprisal from the empire even though it never came. I wonder if this is because Ferrix, being the earlier planet to essentially do the same thing, will be victims of retribution early season 2.

I've heard a few people saying they think that Dedra will start out season 2 "in the same boat" as Syril in episodes 4 & 5, but I don't think she will. I think instead we'll get a nice little shout out to KOTOR:

DEDRA: I'm sorry sir, I failed in my mission.
PARTAGAZ: The penalty for failure is death, Lieutenant. But the failure is Captain Tigo's, not yours. You may rise.

I saw people mention that C.R.C. calendar was referenced somewhere in this episode, where was it? I missed it.

Edit: Ohh it was on Maarva's brick.

If this was an HBO show I'd expect season two to have a scene of Karn and Dedra getting it on but Dedra then telling him. "If you mention this to anyone I will forking end you!"

Nolan North could probably do a decent approximation of the voice for a VG.

This series is remarkable, and the season finale lived up to the high level of quality that preceded it. Season 2 can't come soon enough.

what was that bit about Bix and her mom is still there and Andor said "She was great wasn't she?" Was that her mom on the shuttle at the end?

Agreed. I think Dedra will blame the Ferrix fiasco on the Prefect, claiming the garrison did not take control of the crowd.

I'm all in on that ship. Its a proper toxic couple and the show is clearly setting up the possibility of them merging.

I thought the chauffeur spy was unusually done, and better for it. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Did the driver say and do nothing all season, except in the snooping scene and when reporting to ISB?

Also, I thought the tension-building on Ferrix shows how Cassian gets a feel for how places like Jedha are "about to blow" (beyond being blown up by the Death Star).

Thinking of RO. Maybe Melshi's investigations, when trying to tell the galaxy about the prisons, uncovers a link between what they were making in prison and Jedha? As a result of this, Tivik is sent to Jedha and Melshi returns to Cassian. The overall story might not need this degree of detail (RO works fine without it) but I do wonder about Melshi being a loose end.

I see Tivik is part of Saw's group anyway so he isn't "sent" but the Melshi link seems possible.

She heard (and maybe saw) Maarva's hologram speech. That's what she was mentioning to Cassian, and that's why he replied with what he replied. It wasn't connected to her own mother in any way.
