Two things would drastically improve this series:

    1. Stop using modern contemporary dialogue.
    2. Better fight choreography.

As it is, Willow is just a cheesy fantasy of the week series like Xena or Hercules. I would rather go more the direction of Lord of the Rings.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. That fight in episode 3 was far too dark, though.

If you're enjoying it, I'm happy for you. But there are certain things that bother me about 103
    1) The wererat scene: The rats are about to attack Kit while Boorman needs help getting out of the hole or well that he is in. I think he says "Pull me up" or something to Kit. The scene cuts away to another scene and when we cut back to the wererat scene, Boorman is out of the hole. The tension of saving/helping Boorman and not getting attacked by the wererats is gone. The result - the entire sequence feels empty and hollow.

    2) The forest scene: I hope we get an explanation later, but we get a weird shot of Elora with white eyes and this magical like forest scene where everything is seemingly okay and that storm in the distance is no where to be seen. Then all of a sudden both forest characters are dead. It didn't make much sense. It felt like it was happening in Elora's subconscious but then we were back in reality where the solder kills the one forest woman who didn't talk.

    3) The entire plot of this episode in general:
    a) Let's stay together. We're stronger together.
    <5 minutes later.>
    Let's split up.
    b) There is no sense of urgency to get Airk back. Kit is too occupied with her father's backstory as well as her relationship with Jade. Kit was mad that Jade was going to leave but that's not happening anymore. They're on a quest together. Shouldn't Kit be happy that they're adventuring together and that they get to spend time together? I guess Kit finds no joy in it and is just angsty for the sake of being angsty which is not working for her character.

Yeah, good points. I was watching it whilst wrapping presents and did not pay it much attention, though, and for that it was fine.

That is a valid point. Shazam wasn't horrible because I was on the elliptical at the gym and watching it on my iPad, while the Chiefs game was on the gym TV so I was half in/half out of the movie. If I had to give 100% attention to the movie, I probably would have liked it less. Since I'm giving 100% attention to the show, it's easy to pick up on the inconsistencies.

This episode did have some really awkward-to-bad editing moments. The smoke bomb didn't make sense, the transition into the woods was all kinds of misleading without making sense, scene jumps, etc.

This show seems very confused about what it wants to be.

Most people dress in a medieval style, yet we then see two people dressed in jeans & cowboy hats which seems totally out of place with how everything else looks.

    And who is it for?
If it's meant to be for a new generation of kids to get into the Willow mythology, why is it so sweary?

Same problem with Andor, people in Star Wars don't drop the S word (or the F word if you believe the story it was originally in the script before Disney had it changed). It's jarring and not in keeping with everything else (especially in a galaxy that already has its own curse words/phrases, why throw in real world ones?)

You don't need stuff like that in these shows.

At least the combat is reasonable, how refreshing it is that characters wear helmets with visors when fighting and that striking plate armour isn't insta-kill

So, Andor is confused about what it’s supposed to be because the S word was used once? It was clearly not trying to be like all other Star Wars products, and unlike Willow, didn’t flip flop undecidedly in its tone.
In that sense it had a very distinct identity, a very coherent tone, and seemed very sure of what it was supposed to be. Almost too sure! Essentially, it feels like the exact opposite of what you said is true of Andor.

As for consistency with other Star Wars? It deliberately didn’t try hard in that space. Though on the subject of vulgarity, the S word did follow in the tradition of Han Solo’s H word in TESB.

End credit music was less obnoxious this week. Still not good by any means, but at least I didn't want to cover my ears and cringe.

I continue to watch these episodes with an open mind; even though I find myself looking at the status bar on occasion to see how much time is left. Four episodes in now, and I'm still not feeling any connection with the new cast for the most part. And today's episode's main theme was saving the life of my least favorite character.

So Graydon needs Willow's sorcery to recover from being poisoned. And the alternate option is just killing him. I'm not a terrible person by any stretch of the imagination, but I think you know what I was hoping for by the end. Part of me was kind of hoping for something to really save the character: a Wayne's World-esque scene where he's replaced by a better actor. Yeah, before you say it, I know Tony Revolori was apparently great in The Grand Budapest Hotel, but his acting in this show with virtually zero emotion just makes me cringe.

And about the SW references. I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking immediately about the grandparent connection between Palpatine and Rey compared to Bavmorda and Kit/Airk. It seems like it's certainly leaning towards either Kit or Airk being show the true powers of...the dark side?

I thought we were going to get to see the Brownies by now, but I guess not. At least there were some nice flashback scenes; including one where Elora sees her mother. I'll go with @Sarge in the suggestion that the ending music wasn't nearly as inappropriate as the previous songs were, but it was still weird to be included anyway. When I listen to these, I think I've just watched some action movie.

    I hated the music.

Im going to keep watching but I’m less than impressed with this show.

Ep 4 had way to many remember me moments executed with extreme cringe. “Now you die!” Maybe it won’t be so bad on a rewatch but much like Obi Wan I have no desire to sit through a 2nd viewing unless some how this turns around and utterly wows me.

I’m not confident that will happen based off what has passed already.

Willow's Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score Plummets as Fans Slam Disney+ Series

Before you say anything, yes, I'm aware that RT is a questionable reviewing platform; and that lately people go out of their way to review bomb any film or show just for the hell of it; but you can't deny that some of the comments are agreeable. The show still has another four episodes left to redeem itself, right (actually this was posted before Episode 4), but you get my drift.

Of course, as the article suggests, the fallacy is that the "professional" critics are giving the show an 85% Approval rating. You wonder if either they're watching a different show than the masses, or if they're just being paid off by Disney.

Probably doing the same as what they did on the ST - view it as a single, independent item.

I can't recall a single critic review of any of the ST that appraised them as film 7, 8 or 9 of a series. It was always in isolation.

“Grayoncé”? Did anyone proofread these scripts or are we supposed to believe Beyoncé exists in the same universe as Willow?

I was aware of the Willow movie, but I'd never seen it. After watching the first 3 episodes of the series, I watched the movie for the first time. I enjoyed both. They are similar, and I think the series is a good continuation of the movie. Willow's character seems consistent and the humor is a brand I enjoy. I'm not taking it too seriously, just enjoying it for what it is, and I can't wait for the next episode each week. My opinion seems to be in the minority here - and elsewhere on the internet. I connected with the show and 'get' what it is intended to be.

I’m still enjoying it, though not enough to watch any of the episodes more than once. I find Boorman fun, and Kit is hot.For some reason I find Ellie Bamber’s American accent quite jarring, despite not having an issue with American accents on other characters.

It’s all very lightweight stuff, but my bar is set pretty low these days.

Sad to hear this isn't really improving. I'm hoping a binge all at once will make it work for me.

The music is getting worse. At least when it's the end credits I could skip it and not miss anything, but now it's right there in the middle of the action.

As for Crimson and Clover, that's a great song, but it totally doesn't belong in Willow.

It at least looks good, but the script is pretty ropey and the acting often seems forced.
There are what, 7 episodes? We've had 5 and the plot doesn't seem to have advanced very far.

Boorman is the only fun & likeable character

I'm holding out hope we'll get a Val Kilmer cameo to make this all worth it
