Still need to get through Godzilla Singular Point (Anime). The pseudo-science and theories in the series is mind numbing. XD
Well after seeing this post I watched it. Music is good. It's like a review I saw saying it's cinematic for sure. But plot is a bit weird I will say. It's not a full on Beauty and the Beast, though you can literally see shot for shot inspirations. It's more a teenager coming to grips with things in her life and using it to help another. But yeah, it's a nice film
Yeah I saw it in the theaters for the first time last year. I thought it was really well done. Parts of it kind of reminded me of Summer Wars; of which isn't coincidental considering of course that's also a Mamoru Hosoda project. His finest work to date, at least IMO, was Wolf Children. And yes I have seen The Girl Who Lept Through Time.
I've dabbled a bit here and there but basically two punch of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (Which just won Anime of the year) and Arcane (which probably isn't exactly anime but whatever) has gotten me on a mini-anime binge with Neon Genesis Evangelion and One Punch Man. (Netflix Canada only has One Punch Man S1 but Tubi has S1 and S2, not sure if there's even more out there). Trying to figure out the order of watching the two Eva movies after I finish the series is already giving me a headache.
Calebcity is a national treasure. JJK is phenomenal. I’m up on the anime and the manga and it throws so many shonen tropes out the window that it piques my interests and keeps me engaged. Same with One Piece which is IN ITS FINAL ARC. Boy… gotta love it. Also, there’s just…. SOMETHING about the 90s aesthetic to anime. The new stuff, while awesome, don’t get me wrong, and I enjoy it, the 90s artstyle was downright beautiful.
Neon Genesis Evangelion makes me wonder, with all the Eva pilots sync and all, why they didn’t sue the hell out of Legendary/ Pacific Rim
Cell animation, folks. Someone drew that stuff on paper. It also used to be more like the manga because it tended to be drawn a similar way. the last 20 years has seen the rise of computer aided design. It can be good, but often looks quite different from the manga, and has a different energy. And you just KNOW anime studios will embrace AI...that could be the next evolution in anime...AI generated content, crafted from hundreds of thousands of hours of anime to regurgitate a show that will be universally adored. That is every anime studio's dream!
I’ve now seen season one. I’m liking the cursed energy powers. The mid-fight exposition is a bit much at times, but that can be said about any anime show. Yeah I’m up for more seasons once they’re available to stream, but I don’t think I’ll be buying the manga.
So, having seen the original and the live action adaptation multiple times (original more, obviously) I watched something labeled Ghost in the Shell 2.0 and I thought "Wow, there's a Ghost in the Shell sequel?" and it took me about 2 and a half minutes, after being confused that it was starting the exact same, that it's just Ghost in the Shell with some new colour palate and some new CGI versions of some scenes. Still pretty good and I think one of the first times I heard the English dub. I know there's a ghost in the shell series on Netflix, not sure if it's just a remake again. But apparently there is a Ghost in the Shell sequel: Innocence which I thought was what I was watching in the first place.
Major Samurai X OVA fan and I saw the live adaptations. I like it, but sadly Netflix did not include the second film of the trilogy, so it was jarring to jump from Kenshin and his love and his old brutal ways to the climax.
Gamera is getting a anime on Netflix, like Godzilla: Singular Point. Gamera Rebirth: https://bloody-disgusting.com/tv/37...-everything-in-upcoming-netflix-anime-series/
Netflix is exploding with anime.. Neon Genesis Evangelion Sailor Moon Cowboy Bebop Naruto Gundam And etc They must be trying to compete with Crunchyroll.
Only 3 episodes left of Neon Genesis Evangelion for me, no spoilers! It's getting even weirder. And the two movies which I'm pretty sure is just one movie cut into two. End of Evangelion and Death True 2 or whatever that one is called but pretty sure watch End of Evangelion first Netflix Canada also has Season 1 of One Punch Man which was hilarious and strange but Season 2 is on Tubi, but it's free so that's fine
Nah. They mostly do mainstream stuff. Titles proven to have an established audience outside Japan. Crunchyroll is still the closest and broadest source next to original broadcast there is in the streaming ecosystem. They have the good. bad, and obscure. Still, Netflix tries occasionally to snatch up exclusivity to some new anime. Usually movies. Or at least it used to. Been a few years since I was on Netflix.
There's a Ghost in the Shell show which has been on my Netflix list for years I may get to eventually, but all Eva on Netflix just for me. Rei isn't really human or is an Eva or something and there were some disposable clones of her floating in a vat which the blonde lady destroyed and started sobbing, last episode I saw. It was weird and I only sort of get it. One Punch Man is definitely recommended, also strange but solid anime convention parody. Bad guy shows up, monologues about how great they are, Satima takes them out with One Punch so it's basically a show about ineffective bureaucracy, depression and boredom.
I'm pretty sure the only thing you really need to watch after the series is just End of Evangelion, the other thing you listed is (iirc) more of a recap movie of the series. Been a few years since I watched it. And yeah, things are gonna get weird from here on out. Then there's End of Evangelion...
Is that Ghost in the Shell: Arise ? I too had it queued up forever. Wish I had left it that way. Hope. I think I watched 2 of those before I gave up, heartbroken. It just wasn't Stand Alone Complex anymore. Still...I know others liked it. To each, their own.
Not Arise there's also a Ghost in the Shell sequel which i hasn't seen I believe. On Netflix it is Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045. Two seasons!
