Well this kind of went the way I expected, all the fun commentary and other interesting selections all couldn’t make a dent in the simple fact that Falco was on the list. This would have been a much more difficult decision if he weren’t here, it’s a very strong sampler platter and made for good aggregate listening.

Mind you, I probably would’ve gone with Jackson and his Computer Band in an alternate situation, so at least my vote would’ve been wasted.

Thank you for your patience. For everybody else: I promise I'll make an English-only playlist next time.

Don’t sell your mix short, like I said I had a lot of fun with most of the songs. But, y’know, Falco.

Although these low turnouts are not boding well for the relative chances of my massive bricks of unlistenable nonsense less radio friendly selections.

Yeah but I understand. It's a threshold. I have had little interest in music from mainland Europe for a long time myself, just because it was uncommon. But because I'm from a small country I'm naturally more exposed to it.

Definitely would’ve gone with Jackson and his Computerband because it turns out that whole album is awesome.

    But not Falco awesome. :p

finally got a chance to listen, very fun eclectic mix. i could easily vote for falco, but seeing as most of the list was new to me i really wanted to vote for my favorite song i hadn't heard before and that was anouk.

I put several from your list on an Apple Music list for me, there’s such a great selection. My vote went to Vangelis, but it was hard to pick just one.

A combination worthy of a bizarre stretch of time from 1714 to an ambiguous point in the 1790s.

I had voted for Falco, but on one last relisten there's just something about Ljiljana Butler's haunting song.

Well if I’ve learned anything from World Cup history it’s that somehow the Germany song nobody likes all that much has this in the bag.

Really strong list. Volver, Utopia, Der Kommissar and Good God were all incredibly strong contenders. Great sequencing, by the way, particularly at the end; Good God is absolutely the one to end on with this list. But, man, I just couldn't get away from that Sinead O'Connor track which I hadn't ever heard before. So, that's the one I went with.

Great list. Hard to pick which one is the best, but Good God gets a slight edge over the rest.

Looks like we have a clear winner. Which is funny, because I expect the Netherlands to do horribly in next week's Eurovision. We have a duo that can't keep a tune. They did two tryouts and it was excruciating. In fact, they just announced yesterday that they've rearranged the song and altered the key. A week before the show.

Well, yes, have you seen Eurovision? If they all sounded like the EuroWattos it'd be exponentially better.

I also voted for Anouk (I know y'all expected me to vote for Estrella, but unlike Watto, I consider this song to be an adequate version of a classic masterpiece - had he gone with some of her actual flamenco songs, she would have clinched my vote with no effort!)
