Tito is on a mission to not allow what happened to The Sithi of Osten Ard last year, happen again.

    9 Games Played
8 Complete Games (only 12 by my staff last season)

And if it weren't for Hilton Smith imploding in the 7th inning of his first start, I'm sure it would've been 9/9.

    Incredible.

Now, I need DiMaggio and McCovey (.172 combined, although McCovey deposited a ball in the seats last game) to start hitting and I think I'll be all good.

Hey injuries and mediocrity! That's the Amazing Way!

Place Artie Wilson on the IL, call up Martin Dihigo and put him in the lineup in Wilson's place.

    @DarthIntegral

    Amazing.

a few bats need to wake up, but we'll let it ride for now.

definitely a lot more complete games all around it seems, which i guess makes sense in 1957.

As tempting as it is to tinker with the roster and add some speed to the bench (by sending out someone from my unused pen), we're gonna let it roll the way it is once Intycation ends.

    FODEUSS GAME OF THE WEEK
Brought to you by: The Muffins at Mindy's Bakery
Zodiac Guardians at Sithi of Osten Ard

    Monday, April 15th, 1957
    Yankee Stadium; Honolulu, Hawaii
    1:05 PM Local Time
    7523 in attendance
Partly Cloudy, 79 degrees, win blowing right to left at 10 mph

Nap Lajoie got the home team off to a great start in this one.

First, he turned a pivotal double play in the top of the first inning, erasing a leadoff walk drawn by Rickey Henderson, and helping Hilton Smith get out of the inning after facing the minimum. Then, in the bottom of the inning, he got a one-out double, and scored the opening run of the game, after a two-out single from Al Simmons. Simmons would threaten to score, moving to second on a wild pitch, but Zodiac Guardians starter C C Sabathia would strike out Joe DiMaggio to end the inning at just 1-0.

From there, Sabathia and Smith would put up a lot of zeroes on the scoreboard. In fact, the next team either team even had a baserunner was a two-out single from Lajoie in the third. Albert Pujols would get a two-out single in the top of the fourth off Smith, and Ed Rile - back form personal leave - would get a two-out single in the fifth. Jose Altuve would add a little variety, getting a one-out single in the top of the sixth, but he, too, would be stranded on base, and in the bottom of the sixth the Sithi would get two hits - a leadoff, infield single from Lajoie, and a two-out single from DiMaggio, but a fly out from Roy Campanella would leave the game at 1-0.

Two pitches later, though, the score would change, as Smith would miss on a pitch, but Albert Pujols would not miss on the swing, and the ball would end up travelling 404 feet for a leadoff homer and a game now tied at one. The Guardians would look for a big inning, as Aaron judge singled and Adrian Beltre drew a one-out walk, but Mark McGwire would hit into an inning-ending double play, leaving us still knotted up at one.

Roberto Clemente would get a one-out single in the seventh, but move no further, and neither team would get a baserunner in the eighth, sending us to the ninth still tied at one.

Smith would retire Derek Jeter and Pujols to open the inning, but Judge would punish him for just missing on his first pitch of the at-bat, sending the ball 386 and out of here for a go-ahead homer. Smith would retire Sammy Sosa to end the inning, but Sithi were now down 2-1 and down to their final three outs.

Bobby Cox would elect to stick with Sabathia for the ninth, though he did send out Brooks Robinson to play third in a defensive sub. First up for the Sithi of Osten Ard was DiMaggio, who got a lot of a 1-2 offering, but not quite enough, as he flew out to Sosa just ahead of the warning track for the first out of the inning. Roy Campanella would step up next, and he would send Judge to the warning track, but no further, for the second out of the inning. The last hope for Sithi would be in the form of Jose Ramirez, and he would ... hit a weak grounder to short, which Jeter would field cleanly, and fire to first for the final out of the game.

Sabathia would get the win, giving up one run on seven hits, with seven strikeouts and no walks. Smith would take the hard-luck loss, giving up two runs on five hits, while walking a pair and striking out five.

Final Score: Zodiac Guardians 2, Sithi of Osten Ard 1
    Win: Sabathia (2-0)
    Loss: Smith (1-2)

Been a crazy couple of weeks for me, but at least this last fake baseball week seemed to go well for us. Needed a good one to get over the underwhelming previous week, Bag-and-a-Slam notwithstanding (Slam-and-a-Half?).

Hopefully the box scores are gonna show Big Sam and Willie Wells heating up a bit. I need to see something from them here pretty soon, because those platooned positions could easily become... uh, not platooned.

Probably going to tweak the lineups a bit, but we'll give Big Sam and Willie some more time to heat up. One thing that's pretty clear now, though, is that Slim just doesn't have it. I wanted to give him a chance, but yeah, this is what I was worried about. His base ratings were solid, but all of his individual pitch ratings were pretty awful. That spot in the rotation is going to someone else. Just need to figure out who.

Welp, that was a terrible week. Smoky Joe went 10 innings and 150+ pitches only to have Bret Saberhagen give up a walk-off homer to the first batter he faced in the 11th. Great job, pal. That gets you a one-way ticket to Vancouver.

The Sithi of Osten Ard places Mel Ott (one of just three hitters doing anything on this team!) on the 10-day IL and recalls Jim Thorpe
The Sithi of Osten Ard options Bret Saberhagen to the fiery pits of hell and recalls Bo Jackson (because I still have 3 pitchers that haven't made a single appearance yet)

Following changes will be made to depth charts:
    • Roberto Clemente moves into the starting RF spot (Stan Musial every 8th v RHP, Jim Thorpe NEVER v RHP; Stan Musial every 9th v LHP, Jim Thorpe NEVER) and please remove him from any backup roles he had previously.
    • Bo Jackson moves into the backup LF spot (when tired)
    • PH Priority: v RHP Rile, Gehringer, Jones, Ruth; v LHP Jones, Bo Knows Pinch Hitting, Davis, Rile
    • PR Priority: v RHP Davis, Thorpe, Bo Knows Baserunning; v LHP Davis, Thorpe, Bo Knows Baserunning
