i do hate the adaptation of the killing joke, but it isn't the worst film on the list for me. that would be justice league: war, which is a godawful adaptation of the equally bad first JL comic in the new 52.

on the other hand you have teen titans: the judas contract and all-star superman, which are two of my favorite stories and incredibly well-adapted.

i don't like the whole n52 JL arc tbh - justice league dark: apokolips war is so ****ing dark it makes snyder dc look like sesame street. reign of the supermen is okay, not great.

the pre-n52 JL stuff included is good, though. new frontier has a strange animation style, but good story. flashpoint paradox is among the best in the collection.

I think New Frontier kind of suffered from having to adapt a rock-solid Darwyn Cooke comic which is just a losing proposition even though he worked on it. Of the ones I’ve seen I think Superman vs The Elite actually surpasses the source material, so once I saw that and All-Star were in there I decided to gamble a stamp without further scrutiny.

Killing Joke would be great if it didn't have the first 40 minutes of Batgirl attempted original story welded onto it. Hamill and Conroy doing Killing Joke verbatim is sweet, especially Hamill when he does the sad sack comedian guy.

I saw a clip posted to YouTube. Was Ezra Miller always so bad at acting?

I thought they were pretty good in We Need to Talk About Kevin, but otherwise haven’t been impressed by what I’ve seen of their work.

Warner Bros big advertising spend on The Flash is big and lots of Batman

Instead of touting its star, the studio has put the focus on the film itself, hyping it to perhaps unrealistic levels. CEO David Zaslav and DC Studios co-head James Gunn have publicly said the feature is among the greatest superhero movies of all time. This has sparked bemused head-shaking from some at Warners who question the wisdom of setting such high expectations.

“It can’t be the studio telling you it’s good; your friends have to tell you it’s good,” says one insider.

The first reviews, which dropped June 6, are solid, but not the type of notices received by The Dark Knight, considered the greatest film of the genre. The Flash currently sports 72 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, good enough to beat Joker, Warners’ 2019 Oscar-winning, $1 billion hit, which has a 69 percent score.

The studio is facing several other headwinds that are affecting The Flash’s projected opening — a soft $70 million-$75 million. Some superhero movie fatigue is real, and so is the perception that these next few DC movies, including August’s Blue Beetle and December’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, are less urgent because Warners is relaunching a slate of entirely new movies, with new actors to inhabit the superhero roles, under the aegis of DC Studios heads Gunn and Peter Safran.

It’s unclear how much is perception and how much is reality. Both executives have said some actors from the current universe could persist, and one who seems most likely is Xolo Maridueña, whose character Blue Beetle has close ties in the comics to Booster Gold. Gunn and Safran are planning their own Booster Gold show, and it is possible Blue Beetle could appear in it, depending on Beetle’s reception this summer.

Nonsense, anonymous insider, I get all my movie reviews from Big Z, which is why instead of watching movies I document their destruction to the IRS for tax write-offs.

My theater had screenings of The Flash yesterday. A rep from WB went into the rooms and set up cameras to record crowd reactions for possible commercials (like you see for horror movies sometimes). I did a major  internally when she said 11 seats were blocked off for "press and influencers". (The "influencer" part, I just hate that term)

I'd estimate almost half the people going had Batman shirts on, maybe 20% had Flash shirts, and the rest just normal clothes.

The worst part is people got tickets thru an email thing with WB and they overbooked our screens. A customer told me they always do because they assume a large portion of responders won't show up. This made us look like jerks telling people the show they got pre-sale tickets for is filled up.

No one would have an issue with me being more excited with this movie than the new Flash one, would they?

How can you go wrong with Wonder Woman meeting Johah Hex in the Old West? I don't recall if JH has been in any recent DCU venues, or even the "CW-Verse", but there was a very memorable episode of Batman: The Animated Series where Ra's Al Ghul kidnaps an old man, and tells the story that goes back to the Old West where JH was a bounty hunter going after a wanted criminal.

I may have seen that episode; just don't remember it. I liked the version of JH in the Batman episode. The VA gave the vibes that you were watching a spaghetti western.

Apparently Jonah Hex was in Legends of Tomorrow but I’m not convinced anyone actually watches that show.

Anyway screw that Confederate apologist, give me El Diablo* you cowards.

Rumored three casting finalists for Superman Legacy:

Beast, a guy who I can only assume is about to kick you losers off his dad's ski resort for helping his girlfriend, and the shared cousin of Shia LaBeouf and Martin Freeman.

(Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet, Tom Brittney)

Lois casting candidates rumored to be: Emma Mackey (“Sex Education”), Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) and Phoebe Dynevor (“Bridgerton”).

I think you pretty much have to, it’s quite the millstone. Although it may (somewhat ironically) be the reason he gets to keep his bafflingly happy ending in the comics.

Why are casting rumors considered spoilers? Are there people that are all, "I'm interested in this movie but I don't want to know who might be playing Superman and Lois Lane!"

Not spoilers, just tagging it to make it collapsible because I didn't know how large the image would expand. Looks ok now though so I'll remove the tag.

Literal commercial for The Flash: "Michael Keaton reminds you why he is the best Batman ever."

Literally nothing about the Flash. Basically marketing is: Batman, Batman, Batman. Oh, we have Supergirl too. And also another Batman. Go see The Flash- but ignore the Flash.

And I am supposed to believe Ezra Miller has a future as the Flash after this? Nope.

Look on the bright side, maybe if the movie bombs they’ll never try adapting Flashpoint again.

My concern is if it bombs, it kills my dream of Keaton Batman Beyond. So I am rooting for the sweet spot of Ezra bombing but Keaton getting tons of praise and demand to return for Batman Beyond.
