With the Dial of Destiny due for release this week, it's time to start a new ranking thread.

I didn't care that much for KOTCS so I am hoping Dial will be better. I'm a big fan of the original 3 so I doubt Dial is top 3.

Kingdom of Crystal Skull: 6/10
Temple of Doom: 4/10

Raiders and Crusade are pretty much perfect. Raiders is a masterpiece, Crusade feels a bit of a copy-paste of Raiders. Dial was slightly better than Kingdom but feels like it fails at the same spots. Can't really think of much I enjoyed from Temple of Doom other than the opening sequence/Shanghai chase (which was 10/10 IMO), but feels like once they enter the airplane, it just goes downhill, except maybe for the mine cart and bridge scenes.

Tough based only on 1 viewing of the new one. Ive even ranked them on IMDb as this too. We’ve had so long to take in the originals that it really would be hard for anything to better them, will I be watching dial in 40 years time if I’m still around? I hope so. But right now I’m feeling happy with it.

Did you like dial more the first or second time?

 

My opinion didn’t really change. It was great both times!

I'm tempted to tie it with Crusade, as I like that one less than most. It's still good. I'd have to see it a few times to see how it holds up.

It’s been ages since I have watched any other Indy movie minus Dial.
So here is mine

I don’t hate any of these. Though

 

3rd best after Raiders and Crusade. I predicted it would rank 4th but I liked it better than ToD. I was pleasantly surprised.

 

I've only watched Dial once and it's hard to know how I feel about it. I enjoyed it overall, though I doubt it's better than any of the previous films - which is not a bad thing, since all the others are really good films, IMO. So, for now, I'd say:

5-Dial of Destiny (let's say 7/10 for now)
4-Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (8.5/10)
3-Last Crusade (9.5/10, a near perfect film)
2-Raiders (10/10, a perfect film)
1-Temple of Doom (12/10, a ranking that goes beyond reason... as does the film)

 

I liked Dial a lot more than Crystal Skull. I haven't watched the others in ages, so I'd have to refresh my memory before I try to rank them all.

2. Raiders (even though it's the better film, I enjoy ToD more)
3. First 20 minutes of DoD
4. TLC
5. First half of KOTC
6. The rest of DoD
7. Last half of KOTC

I love them all so ranking them this way makes it look like I didn't like DoD much, which is far form the truth. I really had a good time with it and thought it was a worthy addition.

 

I would put it 3rd or 4th. I am glad people like it. I'd rather it be a good movie and box office disappointment than a hit that no one likes. Disney ain't going bankrupt, and in a decade all that will matter is how good the movie is. It isn't perfect, but it works.

 

I recently rewatched all the films leading up to Dial of Destiny and my favorites have changed.

1. The Last Crusade ***1/2
2. Raiders of the Lost Ark ****
3. Temple of Doom ***1/2
4. Dial of Destiny ***
5. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull **1/2

Doom went up, Skull went down. I've seen Dial twice and I plan to see it two or three more time so my rankings are likely to change again as I decide if I prefer it to Doom.
