I went with 9. It wasn't the greatest episode but I love Rosario in the role, hell I just love Ahsoka the character, and the live action introduction was pitch perfect to me.

Although I need lightsaber impalements to mean something again.

His character additions to SW are the only truly lasting new additions post George if you ask me. Dave has a lot to be very proud of. Including the first couple eps of this series. I'm glad the pacing isn't TFA thank God dialogue and scenes breathe. IM GLAD PEOPLE STARE AT EACH OTHER. when we feel guilt, experience resentment, shame, when we grieve or reminisce, there can be a lot of quiet contemplating in those moments. I think the build up and reconnecting (or trying to at least pick up the pieces) between Ahsoka and Sabine...makes the show for me. Makes the universe feel lived in. Relationships fall apart and it's on us to do with it what we will. I sound like a fortune cookie but I think Filoni gets it in this regard.

10 out of 10. One of the best pieces of television and I don’t just mean Star Wars television. This is the way. =D=

As god as my witness I was expecting Captain Hayle to say call the first officer “Number One.” after he told her “you have the bridge.”

I just re-watched the first two episodes.

Unsurprisingly, I found them even better the second time around. One of the main strengths of this show is the attention to detail. Every single environment is beautiful and rich, every character's design is unique and memorable, every single piece of music stands out and adds to the experience. I legitimately feel bad for everyone who cannot appreciate how well made this show is.

The second time around, I focused my attention on different things, since I did not have to pay close attention to the story. A few observations:

    • The lightsaber fight between Sabine and Shin Hati is really, really, really good. Shin's style is not reminiscent of anyone we have ever seen fight with a lightsaber before, and Sabine's raw, unpolished, inexperienced fighting style comes off as very natural. This time, I kept my eyes on Shin Hati the whole time. Her moves are something else, and I love how she plays with her cloak to throw off Sabine.
    • Baylan Skoll's hallway scene is as good as the other three we have seen in the past few years. Yes, I said it. It's not as original and poetic and grande as Vader's or Luke's and it's not as menacing and scary as Darth Maul's, but he looks awesome while decimating those officers, and in total control of the process.
    • Lothal looks as rich as Coruscant and Naboo in the prequels, or Tatooine and Bespin in the originals, if not more. From Sabine's "room", to the streets, to the platforms, to the interior of Ahsoka's ship, it all feels very cinematic and real.
    • Things that very mildly "bothered" me upon my first view, did not bother me now. I think I now agree with @Bor Mullet that Shin Hati deliberately does not kill Sabine Wren, and I would add that Dave Filoni chose a pretty great angle to actually show us that this is the case. This makes Sabine surviving the impalement much more acceptable and realistic, even if her scar looks like she just suffered a mild burn from a hot marshmallow falling on her stomach.
    • I said it already, but David Tennant is amazing as Huyang. He also reminds me of the HK series droids in the KOTOR/SWTOR games.

I really wish those were the words Hayle had spoken, but instead, he said "You've got the bridge."

It's a pet peeve of mine, when people say "you've got", "I've got", "she's got", "he's got", "we've got", "it has got", etc., since got is the past tense of get.

I would much rather hear "you have", "I have", "she has", "he has", "we have", "it has", etc.

I really wish there was an editor who was in charge of filtering the word "got" in screenplays, since the word is usually involved in bad grammar. Or, just have the screenwriting software automatically fix it, removing "got" if it's following "have", "has", "I've", "she's", "he's", "I've", "you've", "we've", and then altering it to simply say "have" or "has".

It has been going on for decades.... I've seen it in old books, and have heard it in old films and TV shows.

The only cases where has/have and got would be allowable near each other would be in the form of "has gotten" or "have gotten", when talking about getting something in the past. Acceptable usage of "got" would be "you got", "I got", "she got", "he got", "we got", "they got", "it got", "(name) got", etc.

Have got. Have got. Have got. Have got. Have got. Have got. Have got.

Has got. Has got. Has got. Has got. Has got. Has got. Has got. Has got.

If you say it to yourself, or read those groupings of words enough times, you'll realize how ridiculous it is to use them together.

It's so much cleaner and confident sounding to strip it down and simplify the dialogue down to "have" or "has".
The quality of the possession sounds much stronger when using simplified wording.

What pisses me off is when they say "should of" instead of "should have." And IRL, why does every sentence have to begin with "I mean;"? Anyway, about Ahsoka, I gave it a 7. I liked the cast, but the story sort of dragged. I'm reminded of an old Elvis song, "A little less conversation, a little more action."
I binge-watched all of Rebels just before Ahsoka started, and boy, I'm glad I did. I would have been totally lost without it.

10/10. And that's from someone who didn't watch Rebels. I loved the pacing, the acting, the music. I'd have to try very hard to find something I didn't like. This is a big relief after the lacklustre Mando 3. SW is back on form.

I have no clue what people mean about being lost without watching Rebels. Everything is perfectly understandable. These people have history, and some recent problematic history, and the content of that history is slowly delivered to the audience. My significant other, who doesn't watch any animation except for Ghibli, understood everything perfectly, and really liked not knowing exactly what their histories together were. Clearly, they were a squad of friends who had separated a few years before. That's all that we need to know.

I only watched the first episode of Rebels when it premiered and I love this show so far. Only thing I felt I needed some clarification on was Sabine and her status as a Mandalorian and a Jedi Padawan and all that. I think that could've used some more "let's fill the audience in" moments.

Well the joke's on us as well, because throughout the entirety of Rebels there wasn't a single instance where Ahsoka trained Sabine to be a Jedi, this is new information :p Therefore it doesn't seem that there is anything that needs filling in the blanks.

Ahsoka trained Sabine to be a Jedi for an undisclosed amount of time after (or perhaps even during) the events of the original trilogy. It was going well until it didn't. Ahsoka walked out on Sabine because Sabine wasn't ready to be trained (which now that I think about it adds more context to Ahsoka's decision not to train Grogu, she might even feel she wasn't a great mentor to Sabine, and they have been distant towards each other since. Now they reunite, and Sabine is finally ready. One potential reason as to why Sabine wasn't ready to fully train, could have been her attachment to Ezra and her inability to "let it go".

You know what’s funny scrolling the internet I have seen many people who haven’t watched rebels say they are confused at Sabine And Ahsoka’s relationship. And then being master and apprentice. You and me both. I still find it funny that they didn’t talk to each other once in rebels.

When Captain Hayle said, "lets call their bluff" I expected that he was going to have a conversation with Baylan via the video/hologram phone. I did not expect him to invite the people with the shady passcode onto his ship. What a dipstick!

I watched this movie once called A New Hope and there’s was all this stuff about something called the Clone Wars and the hero’s father being killed and a Republic falling and some people called Jedi Knights being destroyed. I was really confused.

See, that's where I think A.I. should be used to fix Roy's lyrics to become "You'll get it ". Same goes for Sonny and Cher..... "I have you, babe ".
Although, the Sonny and Cher song's grammar isn't really bad, if it's interpreted as them reminiscing about the time they got each other.
Without bringing in Yoda's lesson about trying, the word "try" should not be followed by "and". The combination "try and" is rather dichotomous. It should be "try to". "I'm going to try and (do whatever)" makes it sound like they know they are going to do something, but there's great insecurity or doubt in their ability to achieve it, hence the usage of "try", yet at the same time, they're confident enough to say they will achieve the goal by stating they will not only try, but do as well.

Grammar rant over.... sorry for the derailment.

"Hmm. The plot requires me to die. How can I accomplish that in the most incompetent way possible?"

Ah, but we are all dumber now.

(Your point is valid. I will add, however, that the first mention of Ezra is played for far more emotional impact between A & H than the background facts in ANH, even the gap-filling re Luke's father, which Hamill plays with sort of an inquisitive bent. I could see the emotional connection being lost on a non-Rebels viewer, i.e., "Boy these characters are really sad about Ezra; wait, who is Ezra?")
