Ahsoka Anakin Skywalker (spoilers)

I don't understand the de-aging at all. Hayden is younger than Anakin was when he died, so why would he need to look like ROTS Anakin?

 

Anakin is looking very happy in WBW, but I wonder if we’ll soon see dark side Anakin too

 

Because Anakin died as a 22-year-old Jedi Knight in Revenge of the Sith, the moment the Dark Side corruption took hold and Vader "killed" him. It's the same reason his Force Ghost appears younger in Return of the Jedi, after Vader turns to the Light and redeems Anakin's spirit.

 

I haven't been following the series at all, but my heart skipped a beat when I saw the clip recommended to me on YouTube. Anakin! Standing there and smiling proudly like at the end of RotJ! It's all I've ever wanted.

 

Yeah. Just have Hayden act and leave his face alone.

 

They can. Yoda was even able to summon lightning in TLJ.

On topic, I don't have a problem with the de-aging. His eyes looked darker than usual, but that's ok. I suppose since this is the WBW they could have had him in his ROTS costume at the age of 45, to show an "alternative" future for him, but we still don't know at which state, time, situation and even form he is. So we can wait until the next episode and see what happens in the conversation between them.

My only fear is that the de-aging will take away from a long conversation between them, and I truly hope they don't just say a quick hello and then separate. I guess we'll find out. As @Deliveranze said, I am good either way. You're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't.

Seeing Hayden Christensen in the role is always great, regardless of anything else.

 

Which was concocted because George Lucas was out of his mind, and could not stop tinkering (and ruining) with perfection. There was no good reason to edit ROTJ and excise Sebastien Shaw's ghost, replaced by H.C. No reason at all.

Anyway, to interject *some* logic in, Anakin is basically a higher form of matter now, he's part of the Force, so he can present himself at any age he wishes, to Ahsoka. That being said, this will be a really strange interaction, because IMO, Hayden never played a "normal" Anakin Skywalker. Even in the earlier points of AOTC, he was, let's just say, serial killer creepy. Granted his Clone Wars "Filoni" representation is quite different, and I suppose that's where Filoni will go with it.

 

I suppose the question is, is this like force ghost anakin talking to her? Or is this just some vision of anakin that might turn dark as it goes on? I hear some point out that he is wearing black and his saber looks like the Vader saber.

 

He wasn't unhinged in every scene in AOTC and ROTS. He has played the heroic side of the character on both of these movies, in multiple scenes in each one of them. I don't see how this will be a strange interaction.

PS. I prefer Hayden Christensen as a ghost at the end of ROTJ. One of the many good changes that Lucas made.

 

I don't recall how far into the movie this occurred, but once he massacres the sand people, to me he's damaged goods beyond redemption. We can agree to disagree on the second point, because while Vader's actions in the OT were cruel and evil, what Lucas had Anakin do in the prequels rose to a level that is beyond comprehension. So when old Vader saves Luke in the "original and true" Jedi, you can accept he's had a redemption and becomes a ghost like that. However, after what we're "treated" to 20 years later is appalling. How do you have any kind of redemption for a character who ruthlessly murders female and juvenile Tusken's, and later CHILD Jedi's!?!?!? This was a point of contention I really had to step back and question whether Lucas has some kind of psychopathy? Yes, Filoni "humanized" the character in CGI form, played by Matt Lanter, but for me, the very image of Hayden Christensen in Star Wars is going to be one of a putrid, vile example of humanity.

And so between the Hayden ghost and removal of the original musical score, ROTJ S.E. is totally unwatchable for me, and I wish it could be deleted from existence.

 

Well, the Tuskens were murderers and rapists and torturers, even the kids and the women, so, that's not black and white.
The kids is an unforgivable crime. Is it worse than killing 6 billion people on Alderaan? Probably not.

Considering that he's been delivering healthy messages via his movies for 45 years now, probably not.

Well, you can just never watch it again I guess. Thankfully for those of us that love it, it will never be deleted from existence.

 

As others have said, they shouldn't have de-aged Hayden. Yes, Anakin is only 22 when he became Vader. But this is WBW and they can come up with some excuse to make him look like he's in his 40s. The deaging in OWK made sense, but not as much here.

 

Lmao always someone who gets really upset that Hayden Christensen exists in Star Wars. Especially as a ghost.

 

It probably will make sense in next weeks episode tbh. It isn't just about looking how he wants, he has to look this way for whats to come in the next episode. looking older could ruin the allusion.

 

From the brief glimpse we got, the de-aging looked fine imo. As to the choice, too early to tell, there could be a narrative reason that he looks ROTS/TCW age. If we’re going to see different “versions” of him, then it’d make sense to have some de-aging.

I do think this might not actually be force ghost anakin, but more so a vision thats going to start nice, as anakin did, but then start to turn darker throughout the episode. Its all mystical after all so you can just to weird with it. Which i don't know if that would disappoint people.

Oh and he had a robot arm and Vabers saber. probably intentional.

Force ghosts are rarely around when you need them. Think of all the times it would have been helpful for one to show up and help.

In terms of the rules on force ghosts, they don't seem to be very clear. Which is probably why you shouldn't use them too often.
