Okay so we now have more Night-sisters than just Elsbeth so I thought they deserved their own thread now. Let’s discuss.

It was neither nighttime on Peridia nor do I believe those three were sisters. What's up with that Dave?

Apparently one of them was Morrigan in the Dragon Age games (Claudia Black). Fitting, actually.

Crazy fan theory: in the end

their magic will be essential to Palpatine ressurection in the Sequel Trilogy and that's why Thrawn accepted to bring them back to the GFFA

I have been waiting years for the Nightsisters return. They are one of my favorite things about SW, and they rock in live action.

No. Dark science is something ONLY the Sith knew. Get your history correct.

Wonder if three witches telling prophecies to Thrawn means his story is going to somewhat mirror Macbeth.

While Thrawn's comment on "our exile" is most likely a reference to just he and his men... does anyone else think that its possible that the Ancient Jedi drove most of the Nightsisters back to their homeworld and "exiled" them from their more bountiful holdings in the GFFA?

I actually just finished a playthrough of Dragon Age games, that certainly was Claudia Black. Morrigan was one of my favorite characters; she has this fascinating, twisted innocence to her where she acts cruel and petty because she doesn’t know any better. Plus, her magic’s really useful.

Anyways, those boxes being loaded onto Thrawn’s ship are definitely stasis pods, right? The Nightsisters are not a charity organization and they have no interest in the Empire’s wars. The only reason they’d help Thrawn is to get something out of it for themselves. My guess is that they dying out, so most of them froze themselves until they could get someone to return them to the main galaxy.

Tbh I'm not overly impressed by them. We haven't really seen anything that Morgan can do, besides intimidate people with her dialogue. It's nothing like how it used to be with TCW. I thought we might get some sort of hint of Talzin or even Ventress (at least in name drop only), but nope. Maybe when Ahsoka shows up, she can talk about knowing of the Nightsisters in her "former life".

So, basing on credits, witches' names are Aktropaw, Klothow and Lakesis, seemingly a reference to the Fates from Greek Mythology - Atropos, Clotho and Lachesis.

    This is low-key amazing actually.

We already knew that Filoni chooses names based on all kinds of myths and legends from human history, so it shouldn't be a surprise. I love how they changed their names just enough to make them sound Starwarsy.

Atropos is the one who chooses the way of death of a being (tropos = way).
Clotho is the one who threads the life of a being (klotho = thread:verb).
Lachesis is the one who determines the length of life of a being (lachaino = receive by luck)

If I were Sabine, I wouldn't want these three deciding what to do with me.

Random thought - if witches retreated from GFFA to their home galaxy thousands of years ago, than maybe they did it even before the Chiss diverged from Humans.

Morgan claims they made the journey before history was being recorded, and Baylan's lines imply the Peridean myth is considered basically "prehistoric" folktales - and the claim is also made that they likewise made the journey through the Purgills (though implicitly through enslaving them rather than befriending them as Ahsoka did).

I still predict that the ancient Jedi drove them back to their homeworld and maybe even broke their control over the Purgills somehow.

Seems like they no longer ride the Purrgil?

    If so, why?

They could have left Peridea whenever they wanted. Plot hole?

Perhaps someone broke whatever magic curse or artifact they'd used to control them?

The Nightsisters still seem to focus on using their magic/Force through both incantations and artifacts, like their little tech-spheres, Merrin's tools, etc. I could see them using some kind of tool to control Purgills that could then be targeted and destroyed.
