Ahsoka Ahsoka Episode 1.08 (SEASON FINALE!!!) - Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

It felt like there should've been more Shin and Baylan in this, they didn't even get lines.

I still enjoyed it, but it was very strange for a finale.

 

I enjoyed this. A season finale needs to tie up a few loose ends but not all of them as to keep interest and this episode certainly did that. The bits I liked the most were Elsbeth’s transformation, the fortress battles, Ezra’s shenanigans which could have easily been ripped straight of a Rebels episode, and Anakin’s force ghost. The bit with Baylan and Shin had me wondering if it was shot later on, but I’m not too concerned. This first season did a good job of laying down groundwork for what is to come not just in this show but others.

 

I do miss this. There is such a thing as stripping too much away. You lose depth and nuance to character's choices and actions.

Seeing Sabine, Ahsoka and Ezra altogether was a joyful, tearful moment

 

So 8 episodes later we now have 3 characters stuck in Peridea instead of 1, and Thrawn back to Galaxy Prime with a bunch of Nighsister allies.

Great job, gang.

 

I liked the finale but don't know if I loved it. Solid but I wanted more. Loved Thrawn and really curious on how all the dangling plot threads move forward.

Hopefully Ahsoka Season 2 delivers. I want it now.

 

Sabine’s power increased exponentially there. But you know you gotta do what you gotta do.

Won’t get it until 2025 I bet.

 

Curious why the Daughter is destroyed.

 

Someone has to be there to stop Baylan.

 

…yeah I think this is definitely my favorite of the live action shows now…

 

Actually we have Ezra Bridger reunited and able to recount and warn the New Republic, we have the master and apprentice together, happy with each other and until they can get back to GFFA Sabine can train; It appears Ahsoka can now commune with FG Anakin and Ahsoka. Both Ahsoka and Sabine have fully opened themselves to the force. Shin, Ahsoka, and Sabine will stop Baylan.

 

All is forgiven from episode 7. This is a 10 out of 10 episode for me! I loved it! Why?

It’s a great example of why I love Filoni and this crew. Aspects of Lucas Star Wars, Peter Jackson’s LOTR and dare I say it… John Carpenter’s Big Trouble in Little China… with even a smidge of Game of Thrones white walkers thrown in for good measure. Are you kidding me? That’s a killer cocktail that I’m down for any day of the week!

Some amazing action scenes! Ezra was a badass! Ashoka was a badass! Sabine has the force now and it felt earned all season long after build up and was amazing!

Thrawn was great. This was the Thrawn I know and love!

Morgan was a formidable adversary with the sword! The zombie troopers were legitimately creepy!

Baylan is after Mortis!!!! Epic!!

Shin has her own journey ahead!


Life on this planet for all 4 is interesting. Even with a time jump ahead.

Hera and Ezra reunion! Chopper and Ezra reunion!

Can I say again how amazing Ezra is? Already one of my favorite force users!

Honestly, I loved 99% of this episode. It fulfilled my wildest hopes for the finale after what was setup. The only small gripe I have relates to being robbed of a Hera and Ezra hug. Pretty minor criticisms to be honest.

Multiple scenes FELT like Lucas Star Wars to me in spirit. Not from emulating what had been done before though! That’s maybe what I love most. I felt young watching this episode. I was transported back to being young and watching the films. Similar feelings inside. If you can do that WHILE FORGING NEW GROUND.. I salute you.

 

It’s easily been my favorite.

 

I think it’s because Ahsoka is the new Daughter because of the whole ressurection thing.

 

Meta reason: Because Ahsoka is now the daughter.

In-universe reason: Who knows.

How the heck did Ezra escape the Chimera? A ship booking it for hyperspace would be a concern.
And a couple Mortis references, probably setting up the post ST era.

 

Meh. Action seemed very lackluster again, nothing unexpected plotwise, and they killed off Morgan, who still had more story potential, IMO. Sabine's arc went in the most possible uninteresting direction. The CS Lewis title was amusing, but went nowhere, and the Peter Jackson umpteen endings dragged.

 

This actually had a decent sense of finality. Similar to Rebels - the emotional arcs are resolved but hooks left open for a new story on Peridia as Ahsoka and Sabine deal with whatever Baylan is after. And Shin remains a wild card.

Biggest annoyance: Sabine didn't get near enough consequence for her decision in E4. Ezra really didn't mind reversing his sacrifice?
Plus: Sabine did get the redemption I predicted - she succeeds in getting Ezra home, loses Ezra's companionship for herself by getting stranded but gets what she really needed - a sense of belonging again as Ahsoka commits to being the Master she needs.

On that note, Ahsoka's arc has come around full circle. She's learned to trust the ability of a Jedi to bond without selfish attachment and she's fully open to the force now. If/when we pick up this strand, it doesn't need to be "Season 2" of this show. There are lots of ways this story could be told.

Tentatively 9/10. Episode 5 was clearly the one that was most important to Filoni. Even if Ahsoka on the wolf was only fully realized on this one...

 

Maybe the Force users still on Perdiem destroyed the sister as they are aligned with the Son.

 

Or simply because with the state of Peridea it is out of balance and leaning towards the Dark Side.

That's why I said above it would have been nice to see his departure.

 

I thought Ahsoka being the daughter was an assumed thing already. Maybe it was just me.

 

Baylan sees himsself as the Father. (Or at least is the one with the most power)

Perhaps Shin was the Daughter. His 'daughter'. And he's let her go. She seems to be on another path. Might even side with Ahsoka at some point. So ... that statue is destroyed. (Baylan didn't destroy it, It just is/was)

To his left is the Son. Still intact. Perhaps Baylan has another apprentice. Someone that is like a son to him. Someone more dangerous.

 

I sometimes have my first watch of this series in bed on a non 4K TV with just the TV stereo speakers but anyone with a 4K setup and surround sound owes it to themselves to give this one the cinematic treatment on first watch. Very happy I watched it on our main setup instead tonight.
