They will be there long enough to deal with Shin and whatever Baylan is up to. I really don't see them leaving them there for 30 years.

That would involve a long as time skip. Rey isn’t even born yet that’s how far away we are from the ST. She won’t be born until 6 years after this show

@Darth Chiznuk it doesn't make much sense to continue to call the story Ahsoka when the Ahsoka character isn't even taking part in the main story that is going on.

Holy **** and that's what it's called, great ending. A episode with action and a good pace, I rate it 10/10. It's clear that there will be more seasons that I can't wait for. For me, Ahsoka is absolutely the best series in SW. Way to go =D=

I got say I knew going in there would be threads not tied up but it seems as though this show reminds me of myself in the mornings...very to slow to get moving and then once in action, doing well, but then trying to get it all together before leaving may not be near where I should be.

I just wasn't expecting nothing to be touched on with Baylan and Shin, which it seems a lot of us here wanted, or so I thought. Seems many are okay with it?

I like Ahsoka and Sabine working through their past. Huyaang was great, Ezra was fun to see in action, but seeing Sabine use the Force all of a sudden took me out of it. I know it was established that she was trying and maybe she tapped into it a little before but grabbing a saber off the ground (I like to think it was Ezra) and then Force pushing Ezra up to the Star Destroyer was just horrible. And then Ezra sees she's not there so he doesn't jump down? They're stuck there and no emotion of what happened and this is awful that we're separated? Just okay, let's go wash the Rock Turtles laundry..feels flat.

I don't care for the Witches but it does give Thrawn an advantage. Are we to assume Thrawn made it back to the GFFA? If so then thats what i wanted.
When Morgan was told to confront the Jedi, I knew she was a goner. Why didn't her body show shadow mist? What was the point of all that witch power? How did Ezra steel a shuttle and find the NR and keep his Stormtrooper gear on? Why isn't Shin sleeping next to me?
I guess I'll have to tune into season 2? Most here think a season 2 will happen?
I love the Force Ghost Anakin. That is always a great cherry on any disappointing cake.

Liked it a lot. Didn't love it. It didn't hit me emotionally as Parts 4-5-6 did, but I appreciated it for what it was and what it needed to be.

We are obviously getting a second season, I would be shocked if we didn't.

    Things I liked/loved

    • Ezra with a lightsaber
    • All the lightsaber action
    • Morgan Elsbeth in her new role, only to die half an hour later
    • Thrawn's delivery of all the lines
    • Sabine destroying the two TIEs
    • All the quiet moments of the episode, the room to breathe through dialogue
    • The appearance of the Gods of Mortis.
    Things I didn't like:
    • Most of the action scenes, especially with the Night Troopers. Rick F. to me is the most overrated director of everyone who has worked in the SW live action shows. His action scenes are quite often very clanky, and the only two episodes of his I really like are The Child and The Believer.
    • Zombies. Meh.
    • Some narrative choices. Ahsoka and Sabine trading places with Ezra is a little silly to me as a choice. I understand it, I accept it, I just don't really care for it.
    • Thrawn going back to the GFFA. I actually thought that Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati would be the x-factor and he wouldn't make it back. A little disappointed by that.
Even so, I think that this show and Kenobi are easily my two favorites, followed closely by The Mandalorian.

I may also think that Part 8 was a little deflating because of how perfect Parts 5 and 6 were. This show peaked in the middle IMO.
Still a great show, I just wish it didn't have that many loose ends for another season. I hope we find out soon what the plan is.

Have you seen a movie called Return of the Jedi? In it the main character Luke Skywalker leaves the military conflict to confront his father and the Emperor. He remains the main character even though he isn’t taking a direct hand in the military conflict unfolding. It’s because the battle for Vader’s soul is the main conflict of the film.

This could happen in Ahsoka where whatever Ahsoka and Sabine are doing is the main conflict of the season while Thrawn the B plot.

Loved Shin's and Baylan's short scenes. They didn't need more than that here. Enough said. Great, great shot of Shin holding up the sword, and of Baylan and the gods.

And Filoni, of course, remembered that there were Deathtroopers on the brigde of Thrawn's ship. Good to see my old buddies back.

The great thing about this episode is that very much like episode 6, it added to, rather than subtracted from, the previous episodes. We got more layers, not less.

And the bitterweet ending, including Ezra's and Hera's (and Chopper's) reunion, and the cats on Peridea, was really well done.

Someone said this felt like Return of the King's many endings? I'd say it's kinda like that, but done right.

The only bits that were underwhelming were the Ezra, Sabine and Ahsoka fight scenes on the castle. Those looked too cheeseball at times. And I think Sabine should have moved something earlier in the season. Force recovering her blade, and then force pushing Ezra so far, happened too suddenly and grandiosely for me.

The main plot of the entire OT was Luke's battle with Darth Vader. While the main plot of the story here is about Thrawn and Ezra's return.

I agree with Rick's direction of fight scenes. I noticed it first with the last two episodes of Mando S3, and then with tonight's episode. Which is crazy bc I actually thought he handled action well in Mando S01E02 and the Believer season 2 episode.

"We are the balance, Ezra. We were meant to be Jedi so we could be here now, when Lothal needs us most."
Ezra and Thrawn were meant to go to the other Galaxy, so that Ahsoka and Sabine would after them, allowing Thrawn and Ezra to return to the main Galaxy, while Ahsoka and Sabine with Baylan and Shin have to deal with some threat that will threaten the Galaxy at some point in the future.

Whether we get a season 2 of Ahsoka, an unlikely season 4 of Mando, The Book of Boba Fett season 2 gets improbably greenlit, the animation team does a new show set in this time period, or it's just the big movie that's next. Whatever they do it's going to be hard to ignore that Thrawn is back in the Galaxy and must be getting an army ready to go on Dathomir. Ezra made it back. There's no secret to keep with what happened. Huyang explained to Ezra why Sabine and Ahsoka had a following out after the Empire wiped Mandalore subtly tying us back to The Mandalorian which has told most of the story in this time frame so far. Star Wars likes its pillared lightning rod mythology. The Mandalorians are that pillar. So much of the story is dependent on snowballing from that specific event just as much as everything in some way leads back to Anakin/ Vader which is why I like his ghost appearing at the end.

I liked the reconciliation with Sabine and Ahsoka. Ahsoka almost admits the dumbness of when she took a keycard and broke out at the end of season 5 of TCW. And it was only Anakin who pulled out all the stops for her. She understands now her mistakes in running away.

Honestly, I'm not convinced Thrawn cunning as he is will really be able to start a massive enough scale war. It was already a thing in last week's episode The Night Troopers weren't Zombies but were men so that didn't disappoint me again. This episode had some cool action pieces with the reanimated Night Troopers getting repeatedly back up and forcing the powerhouses of Ahsoka, Sabine, and Ezra to retreat. However, if you put them up against an army of powerhouses. Let's say the Mandos as they were at the end of season 3 were just randomly dropped into this. Those undead Night Troopers would have gone down quickly. The Armorer alone would have blitzed half of them. Remember how effective the zombies were against Grievous and the droid army?

That's why I still think Thrawn is just a decoy antagonist and Baylan's story isn't over. He's going to have his own Mortis adventure, maybe even a Yoda arc epiphany. I think he is intended to either be the big bad or set up the real big bad. Given he found the Mortis Mount Rushmore and is looking toward a big stepped pyramid temple. If he gets deformed or goes through a metamorphosis he could be recast. If we never see him again Baylan will be the catalyst. Hell, maybe Peridea has been Mortis all along. It's interesting that Morei appeared to Vader at the end of "Victory and Death" and now it appears to Ahsoka when she has decided to move on and be a better master to Sabine. Morei symbolizes The Daughter who resurrected Ahsoka.

I would have liked to have seen Sabine tell Ezra what she did but maybe it just wasn't important in the scheme of things. That's probably my biggest disappointment with the season. These last couple of episodes could have used more character-driven moments instead of action. But I think this is a good episode if it wasn't a finale. Calling this a finale is a lie. It's just an episode. There's no cliff hanger IMO. It's just a setup for whatever comes next. No storylines were concluded other than maybe Morgan's. She was doomed the moment she was told to go stall Ahsoka so that was no surprise. Cool fight. I don't think just getting home and reuniting with Hera and Chopper is a resolution to Ezra's story in Ahsoka. Storylines just moved along enough to get to the next step and teased for the next season. Characters shuffled around. That worked for me. I'm excited to see what comes next.

In short, this is a fun episode. The season oddly just ended with another episode IMO and not a finale. Not sure how that should affect my grading.

And the plot of Ahsoka is her relationship with Sabine and how they form a trusting master and apprentice relationship. Thrawn is the conflict that brings them together just as the Galactic Civil War is the conflict that brings Luke and Vader together. That’s why the climax is Sabine deciding to stay with her master and why season 2 will likely continue the story of their relationship.

I don’t envy them for what to do with Baylan now. They’re in a tough spot there.

I’m glad Shin is still alive. There’s still more places to take her character.

Thrawn is about to wreak havoc on the Galaxy.

    Haha! Made me chuckle!

I've enjoyed this series for what it is and have generally been positive and not worried too much about my nitpicks, but count me among those who where very underwhelmed.

"Ezra's home!" Isn't much of an accomplishment when you, Sabine, just unleashed Thrawn and and army of undead on said home. Oh, and you're still galaxies apart from him. Whoops! I honestly think it would have been much better writing to have the goodies fail completely and have to deal with it. Just stay stranded and Thrawn & Co. get away cleanly. And we've gone from "Where's Ahsoka in the ST?" to "Where's Ezra?"

I wonder what form of media, if any, is going to depict Thrawn's impact on the GFFA. Sure, there's a Filoni movie planned, but I get the impression that'll just be a "hey Thrawn's bee doing some bad stuff and this is the 2-hour story of how we finally stopped all that stuff you never saw!" Except in another season of Ahsoka? Another animated season of Rebels? More Zahn books? Some comic books I can't be fussed to consume?

Nice duel, but Morgan's end was a waste. Speaking of a waste, Shin and Baylan. Kinda knew there was "too much" to wrap up with them going into this, but it didn't fail to disappoint with a cliffhanger ending (can't wait for the comic books!!1! 1!) and wow, did they get shortchanged on their screen time.

So... the Storm Troopers volunteered to be reanimated, should they fall in battle. Ok, so then if they weren't already undead, they why's their armor so trashed? The red ribbons make some sense, as preparation/part of the Nightsister magic that will reanimate them, but otherwise... They didn't sound fully human to begin with, so are these local, ex-nomad samurai wearing the armor of human STs they'd previously killed before switching sides and joining Thrawn(! Thrawn! Thrawn!)?

It was all too easy and convenient, IMO. Those TIEs could've evaded getting rammed. The Chimaera *really* can't lift off from "We can expect a ground assault" to "Sabine found the Force!"?

Anyway, I go into these things with no expectations to subvert anymore, and it's still fun, overall, but for a "finale," very meh, IMO. I'll get over it 15 minutes from now.

There were, of course, great visuals:

    Kintsugi Night Death Troopers? Sick!
Blue, green and double white sabers all together? Very nice!
Shin and Baylan? So Hatti right now.
Shin's return to the samurai? Slightly goofy, but kinda neat in a simple, almost anime way.
The Argo... Father and Son and Baylan's finding the beacon of Gondor/whoever Lit the Beam? Looked cool. So sad that's the last we'll see of Raylan Skollvenson.

Filoni was put in the corner when it comes to the fate of the main characters of this show.

Either they get stranded in this new galaxy, or they all die, since they're not around 25 years later. Sorry but the latter would be stupid. Being stranded on Peridea was the only way, and the only narrative choice that made sense.

I’m sorry to sound like a negative nancy, but the action didn’t feel very good in this episode.

First off, the wrote too many situations that felt like plot armor. Things like the temple door being left open, Ahsoka’s ship being fixed just in time, things like that. I don’t need anyone to die, but in that case, the story should be written in such a way that it doesn’t feel like they’re continually getting very lucky.

Second, it felt like they were still holding back content-wise. The team are fighting zombies, who will keep coming until you make it physically impossible not to. But only Ezra actually attempts any dismemberment; everyone else keeps making these flimsy chest strikes even when it’s clear they’re not working. Considering the amount of times people lose a limb in the films, I don’t think this censorship is necessary, and it makes the fight scene feel childish and flimsy.

More like a skirmish with the galaxy.

Unless they retcon it, the New Republic has not been at war with Imperial Remnants since the end of the Galactic Civil War. Which is one of the reasons why they are not prepared for the First Order.

Having the Republic Fleet go to war with Thrawn would really mess up the ST future. In this scenario with Thrawn eventually being defeated, it really makes no sense for New Republic to go "Ah no more Imperials to worry about starting another war, lets continue to maintain a small Fleet". This scenario would realistically make the NR see the rise of the First Order as a threat that needs to be squashed right away.

It really makes me more interested in Thrawn fighting the Grysk in the NR era, which prevents Thrawn from invading NR turf.

Morgan vs Ahsoka was a great duel and one of the best in the show. But all the action with the stormtroopers was really silly. Other than Ezra & Sabine vs Death Troopers - that one was tense and threatening. Turbolasers not hitting anything was a joke. These things are supposed to be like nukes.

Ahsoka being stranded does narratively make sense for what Dave has to work with. Based on the ending, it sure seems like a 2nd season is coming or Dave’s movie picks up all the pieces from this show but I would prefer a 2nd season before we get the movie. My main issue is that it still seems that whatever Thrawn does he gets beaten or at least retreats because of the ST being about the first order. There’s still several years until the Force Awakens so he has some room for exploration but I feel like I already know the ending.
That being said, I throughly enjoyed the season. Had its highs and lows however, the lows weren’t nearly as bad as Mando season 3 or Obi Wan for me.

To be honest I see this as people outside of the New Republic government battling Thrawn. I highly doubt Thrawn gets far enough for the New Republic as a whole to see him as a legitimate threat.
