It's funny how memory is tied to music. I recently bought Newhart season one. The show was on Sunday nights around 930pm in the early 80's. When I hear the theme (written by the great Henry Mancini) I am instantly taken back to that time. I was starting a new school, and I remember really not wanting the weekend to end and not wanting to go to school in the morning.

 

Me right now watching The Shining when the Doctor is talking to Danny about brushing his teeth...and Tony. So scary.

This movie never ceases to amaze and show new images and sides and interpretations.

it's definitely a unique film is The Shining!

Did anyone catch the mini series they did in the mid 2000's? believe King wrote the screenplay or was heavily involved

Yes, yes, yes, we've discussed this Shining thing before at least two times or twenty two, can't recall, but proceed according to plan.
The Stephen King movie is good for a laugh and to enjoy a couple good scenes, but otherwise, what.

The Shining miniseries was okay, certainly not as good as the movie. The kid was annoying. They did shoot it at the actual Stanley Hotel where King wrote the novel.

 

I remixed a remix and it was back to normal.

That Scatman Crothers scene alone with Danny in the kitchen is better than approximately 80 percent of every movie ever made just by itself.

heard Kubrick was a good chess player and play on set with cast and crew

 

I know they made Tony the kid's older self communicating with Danny in the miniseries. Not sure if that was in the book or not.

 

There are volumes written about this movie.
Best bet for a kickoff on facts is to listen with the standard commentary by artists who worked on it while you watch.
