I must say I’m surprised no one posted this sooner. anyway starting in March and being written by Ethan Sacks. Hopefully this will delve in to some of his Mandalorian history!
With this variant there is a great potential for a "soldiers betrayed by the government after the war" story,
Just my little hope, show us Jango as young man as a new Bounty hunter and it ends with Dooku taking an interest in him
Luke Ross' involvement is great news. Jango and Aurra's relationship is an interesting topic, regarding her attitude to Boba.
Honestly still surprised neither legends nor canon has tackled the relationship Jango had with Hondo.
I hope we get younger Jango Fett and Hondo as they both still young scoundrels. Maybe Both Jango and Hondo shared Aurra Sing.
Anyway I assume this probably takes place before Jango takes the contract with Kamino. At least I hope it does as all Jango content so far has been after the contract.
Spoiler: Issue #1 Great start, with Jango being badass, the pre-TPM Republic being ineffective and full of political intrigues, and Aurra once again being freed from prison in exchange for a job.
Spoiler I wonder how pre-TPM this is, since Trade Federation/Naboo negotiations are said to have broken down. Not sure why they'd be occurring outside of the blockade, to be honest.
Spoiler Could've been Veruna's political maneuvers, but with his shady status in the NU Canon it is unlikely.
Spoiler The Anslemi seem a lot more involved in galactic affairs here than in their other appearances, where they seemed like the local Tusken Raiders. Interesting. And on that note, this felt like a pretty fun mash up of things from every corner of star wars. Art and story felt like one of the comics around the time AotC came out and Jango was getting a lot of attention* *Well, mostly. Jango felt a bit more "exhausted by his terrible job" than "stoic badass" Also, this is the only I can remember a bounty hunter working for the Republic, well aside from the Kotor comic when the heroes were on the run from the republic and the ones training the clones, oh and Mando in the next season though we haven't seen that yet...well, still feels rare and interesting to me. Even when Jango Fett was given a more sympathetic job his employer was usually someone else, same with Boba in the New Republic era.
Spoiler The Republic's officials here seem rather shady as well, so maybe Jango's list of amoral employers is going to get longer.
Spoiler: Issue #2 Bearded guy is not a very impressing opponent and yet another cameo of 1313 is just tiresome at this point, but Jango and Aurra's arguing with employers is hilarious. Although one of those easily breaking Chevin's neck seems rather strange.
Spoiler Well, there is plenty of leverage with the long face, but it does seem like there isn't much of a neck to break.
Spoiler: Issue #3 Liked that Aurra is pragmatic rather than sadistic for once in a while. Nakano Lash being the thief is not a big surprise, but nevertheless a good origin story for her.
Spoiler It surprised me personally, but yeah it was a good use of the character. Wonder who is behind the big conspiracy and what they have to gain from all this...
Spoiler Maybe it is one of Palpatine's smaller scale schemes to further discredit Valorum. Spoiler Seems quite possible, at least the outfit is like Cradossk's one.
Yeah Spoiler it was nice to get some Bounty Hunters connective tissue. Also I'm going back through the previous issues and I really noticed this spread here- Like, damn, what a great dynamic layout. It's not often SW comics lean into the fun paneling comics are capable of, so this was very nice to see.
