I liked the callback to "Children of the Force". Cad Bane was good at kidnapping force-sensitive kids then. Now that Jedi aren't around to chase him he probably sees it as making a lot of credits fast. He's a force to be reckoned with on his own if someone does get in his way. It's hard to predict if this is a one-off appearance in The Bad Batch's final season by looking at this two-parter special. There is a partial infodump on Project Necromancer although what it is has not been revealed. It probably is giving Palpatine extra lives. I don't like info dumps but it worked. Hemlock is pressed hard by Tarkin to get results. He knows his neck is on the line and he has to find Omega. So he gets sloppy and promotes Emarie which will backfire.

I also doubt we'll see Grogu since the "infant" Cad Bane kidnapped seems like a similar character. Boy, this episode is unsettling. It was hard to watch Cad Bane knock out the mother and nonchalantly take in the infant. I hope the snitch has bad karma. Seeing these innocent kids with no idea why they are there serving as science projects. Eva not only misses home but is starved for social interaction. Jax's escape attempt is reminiscent of Omega's actual escape but doesn't work. They force Emarie to evolve emotionally as she pushes past a line where she doesn't seem to worry about animal abuse or how the clones being experimented on are being treated. Experimenting on those kids jumps half a football field past the line. Maybe that mirrors how Nala Se views the clones like Samsung viewed the screen you are watching this on rolling off the assembly line. Personally, I doubt she sees these kids differently. It's Omega she cares about. Nala was manipulating Emarie to help Omega. She puts the fear in Emarie since its tickets for Omega and the rest of the kids if she doesn't.

    Great episode albeit bleak.

    I gave it a 9/10.

Certainly a heartwarming episode; at least from Emerie's perspective. Going back to that notion of the Empire, under Palpatine's thumb, kidnapping the Force-sensitive children. I was almost expecting Ahsoka to show up at some point, considering she was involved in episodes with that theme in TCW as well as Rebels. And speaking of the latter, they're hiring Bane as the bounty hunter to kidnap them; but in Rebels it was the Inquisitors themselves who were going after the children, right? Emerie is obviously taking things personally regarding the children. It almost makes you wonder how come Hemlock trusted her enough to take Nala Se's place as chief scientist to begin with. When she's alone with Nala Se, of course she's being convinced to do something to help the children now that she has the power. Tarkin comes into the picture asking about the funding. So obviously he isn't caught up in the loop. Is Vader for that matter?

This. It was sad enough that it made me angry. **** anyone who can look at those kids and be OK with what they are going through, and call them “specimens.” The way to end this episode well would be for Hemlock to be swallowed by a sarlacc, in slow motion.

I did like the Cad Bane appearance and callback, and Emerie giving Eva her doll at the end.

Hemlock and Imperials, you’ve got their blood samples to make all your creepy Palpatine clones you pieces of ****, there is no need to continue imprisoning these kids and calling them by numbers (although the Holocaust reference is duly noted).

    7/10

    Great episode!
Hemlock is so sinister. And the way he and the Empire refers to the subjects as specimens/assets. Of course the episode would have a baby in peril to tug on our heart strings.
Great seeing Cad Bane return! He's such a fantastic character that perhaps he needs his own mini-series (or Tales type show).

I've been a mother too long. This episode was disturbing. Another "If you didn't think the Empire was bad before" episode.

One of the many hanging plot threads from TCW, was the kidnapping of force sensitive kids. Did Palpatine ever get his army of force sensitive kids. Did he keep at it? Seems like he needs a big supply of high MCount kids with as many projects as he has for torturing them.

I see it more as the ease of the target was irrelevant, the lack of morality required is harder to procure, even from bounty hunters, and Bane is more bereft of morals than most.

I am more commenting on the fact that I think this is the first season of any tv show where I have given tens every single episode. I usually squeeze in a rare 9/8 maybe even a 7 if I am feeling very controversial :p

10/10 Great episode, dark and kind of hard to watch as a parent. They are doing a good job of making me hate Hemlock. Was fun to see Cad Bane too, of course.

Nine for this, ten for the follow-up.

As much as I loved seeing Cad Bane again, this episode was almost too dark. I can see why it got bunched up in a double, where the overall bleakness was off-set by some cute Wrecker, Gonky and Batcher moments, as well as Omega's bold heroism.

By itself, this episode almost crossed a line and forgot that it was Star Wars. Perhaps that was its real identity crisis.

yeah it was good and at least it expanded on the story.

I thought the opening was especially interesting : that a child displaying Force powers would now be a dangerous thing. Have we had any stories about that in other shows ?

The one thing that I might add to my post about this episode is how I appreciated that they obviously used actual children for the voices of the Force-sensitive kids in the lab. All too often these days they simply use adults with high-pitched voices to mimic children, and that bothers the hell out of me. Like the Tom Hanks animated film, The Polar Express. It's easier to feel more sympathetic to them when they sound like actual children.

Fantastic fantastic episode. Anything that makes the empire look downright evil is good for me
I don’t understand your issue here. Ever since the PT, a lot of Star Wars content has been about how everything isn’t as clean cut, black and white, good vs bad as say the OT.

The only victimization of Nala Se is that she’s now being held captive. That’s not the writers saying that everything she’s done before is forgiven and okay and I would imagine they expect everyone who’s seen TCW to understand that she is a very morally bankrupt character. The way they’ve depicted her just goes to further show, that even those who have contributed to the empire, those that have done bad things in the past and have continued to work with the empire are still not above the rule, brutality and overarching evil that the empire is demonstrating.

Why would she admit that it’s her fault ? What does that benefit this story ? If she did that then surely that really would be the writers playing up her being victimized as you claim she is ?

I’m pretty sure the intention isn’t to make you feel sorry for her, and you clearly don’t, so what’s the issue ?
