    “It is truly a pleasure to be here, on the Late Show. Always, indeed.”

    “I discovered Star Wars quite by accident at my grandparents. They had a toy box for the children which was largely fill of cars, but one singular 1980s Boba Fett too. One of the second generation ones, without a missile that launched. I enquired of my father, and he let me watch the originals at home. Thereafter, I enjoyed it, but it was Return of the Jedi that caught me - our dear Emperor Palpatine, a truly captivating villain, the heroic Ewoks, the great space battle, and, most deeply of all, the simple refusal of Luke in the face of absolutely evil.”

    “How did I come across the Jedi Council Forums?”

    leans forward, elbows on thighs, links fingers

    “It was 2004, and, well, I’d been dating a young lady who was actually quite disdainful of geeky pursuits. I hid my truest self from the her, and after a brief and emotionally messy relationship and breakup, I decided life was too short and just embraced the Nerd Side. The X-wing novels were my favourite at the time, and so I followed the Google searches to the Fleet Junkie’s in Literature. To the Canon Wars, and the discussions about the length of Super Star Destroyers, of all things.”

    “How long?”

    “Well continuity back in the Legends day said an SSD was five times the length of a standard Imperial Star Destroyer. Which meant it was eight kilometres long. But visuals from Empire Strikes Back suggested longer - ten times longer, and loudly people spoke of it. The continuity bigwigs opted for 12.8km, but people were still unsatisfied and abruptly the SSD was 19km long, and, by retcon, every other Executor-class. Which caused its own continuity issues as we had books showing that three Star Cruisers working together could beat up an SSD - believable for a smaller model, not so a 19km one.”

    He shrugged.

    “Continuity is subjective. Most of the enjoyment I personally derive nowadays is that one’s own canon can be enjoyed besides others. Head canons - One Canons, if you merge timelines.”

    Another shrug

    “How did I feel about the 97 special editions and re-releases? Well I didn’t have immense issues either way until Vader’s Revenge of the Sith ‘noooo’ was added to Return of the Jedi. That scene was so well choreographed it didn’t need verbiage to convey how Darth Vader felt. His decision to save his son was dynamically played out upon his helmet and body language. I do not like that addition, and so I emphasise with people who take umbrage with Han Solo shooting second and so forth.”

    a softer tone follows

    “The prequel trilogy? Well, Palpatine is my favourite character, thanks to Ian, and Revenge of the Sith is his best film. Nuff’ said.”

    a slight eyeroll follows

    “Be honest? I loved each individual entry. The cohesiveness across the trilogy isn’t stellar, and the pacing of the first half of the last film is just too fast. Let alone the Dagger, which was just a little bit too elaborate a coincidence for me. But I do rate Rise of Skywalker highest out of all of them, but the Snoke twist in The Last Jedi was brilliant setup for Palpatine in hindsight. I watched that film and heard Snoke purring and pontificating like Sidious and turned to my partner in the cinema and whispered. “Oh carp he’s Palpatine isn’t he?” His death will likely come across as a smart turn of hand, when continuity firms up. Project Necromancer, in Bad Batch and Mandalorian seems likely to lead to Snoke after all.”

    Figures? That’s a terrifying rabbit hole so I have limited myself to a dozen or so Pops - Snoke, Palpatine, Knights of Ren, the Ronin- the Lumiya comic pairing, the ye old clone Emperor figure from the 90s, and the Twins from Visions… and about four hundred Micro Machines lol.

    Favorite Sith in the RPG thread? Sneaky, @Jedi Bluth! I don’t have a favourite per se, to be honest. I love all my players! And as for DBZ, I watched the original airing of the Goku vs Freiza fight in Namek! I lost the franchise for a bit and when Battle of the Gods happened I went back and did everything. Even some of GT, and I devoured the DB Super Heroes spinoff.

    And @DarthIshyZ, while SW is your favorite fandom, my second favorite is changeable. I do rotate obsessions lol. Currently it’s Jujutsu Kaisen… but it could be Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts, Dragonball, .Hack// depending on the day.

    I'm his favorite.

    You skip the Saiyan saga, kinda of a good thing. It was kinda slow, glad you went back and saw everything. I like GT, okay. I've watched the DB Super Heroes saga on YT. I've got to go back and finish it, but it was epic. I LOVED the throwbacks to old school DBZ in the Hereo movie from '22.

    SS4 Limited Break Broly
    .

    Yesss! It was very Cell Saga. Shame Cell Max wasn't half as fun as Cell, but I loved that movie.

    Well, yes. Those are my favourite Canon characters.

    Otherwise it's Lumiya, Traya, Vitiate, Caedus, Tahiri, Raynar, Krayt, Wyyrlok III, Jaina, Jagged, Borsk (love to hate) and so many.

    ESB is fun but Vader is my least favourite of the Movie Sith sooooo.

    RotS had the minimal of Jar Jar and maximum of Palpatine and I approve. :p

    I've watched them all!

    Mandalorian Season 1 and 2 were high points, though I very much enjoyed Ahsoka and Andor, and I was oddly mellow about Book of Boba Fett and season 3, odd.

    Tales of the Jedi was brill, and Tales of the Empire I am rather hyped for!
