Mini Series "The Acolyte" Season 1 Discussion (Spoilers Allowed)

At this point in the timeline Palpatine won't even be born yet for close to forty years and there is no canon out there that say how long any of these Sith Lords lasted. So there still is plenty of room to have entirely new Sith characters in this show. They may introduce an already known Sith but they don't need to.

 

It’s also possible that neither Osha or Mae actually become a Sith and the Master decides to train a young Muun at the end of the series.

 

They will wait for Plagueis to last season maybe

 

Darth Plagueis was said to be able to save those he loved from dying. A power which Palpatine seemed to want to discover for himself,

lol.,I wonder if Plagueis was part of a dyad. Because that’s the only other time we’ve seen that power pop up.

 

Something that’s always bugged me.

Where did Plagueis being Palps’s master even come from? That’s never alluded to in ROTS. I know the James Luceno novel, but for seven years before that… was it in the Stover novelization?

 

It would be a cool twist if Osha ends up being Plagueis.

 

I rembember headcanon that Covis from Clone Wars was his adopted son, lol

 

I still think the Jedi will miss the presence of the Sith Lord and mistake Mae’s Master as one when he is merely the apprentice and Mae his Acolyte.

 

That is a good point because it should be canon I think (written materials which I did not directly read) that the power of healing appears only in force dyads users?
That should start and important discussion on my boy Din Grogs too though…

 

It’s actually infuriating to me that Osha is introduced as violating workplace standards

It’s very much alluded to in ROTS.

 

Just look as his smile as mentioned Plagueis Death

 

Nope. It’s like everyone knowing the name Ewok without it being uttered once in Return of the Jedi.

Palpatine gives his monologue about the forgotten tale of Darth Plagueis the Wise.

Next and final allusion to Plagueis is him telling Anakin how they will discover Plagueis’s secret together. After previously acknowledging that Plagueis’s apprentice learned all of that and killed him in his sleep. Never once was there a “Haha, I was the apprentice ALL ALONG! ANAKIN! SUCK IT, LOSER!” moment

Maybe the implication is there, but it’s never specifically addressed. Which is why I always had this lingering fear of either George or Disney changing it up and making Darth Plagueis an ancient sith.

 

Yes, he’s clearly taking pleasure in remembering the murder of his own master. He then admits to Anakin that he has the power to save Padme from death which again indicates that he’s the apprentice who Plagueis taught everything he knew.

 

I remember the scene as Palpatine not telling Anakin that he has the power, but the general dark side, and they have to find it together. Maybe I have to rewatch.

 

I still think he had no idea how to save Padme from death and was only pulling Anakins weak chords that make him turn… not denying Plagueis May have in fact be able to force heal but I think Palps was simply using that story to manipulate our boy…

 

Palpatine is no Plagueis, lol

 

He says he has the power to save the one Anakin loves then immediately changes his tune once Anakin turns. He obviously keeps this knowledge to himself because he doesn’t want to make the same mistake as his own master did but we eventually see in TROS that he did indeed know how to cheat death.

 

You mean would never have been able to reach the same level?

 

My favorite lines so far come from episode 1.

Neimoidian 1: Jedi?
Neimoidian 2: Ngaaah.
Neimoidian 1: Ugghhh.

 

I know it’s more explicit in TROS, but I’m talking more about the Lucas era here. I just rewatched: the scene where Sheev outs himself he sort of implies he has the knowledge, but then after they throw Mace out of the window, he says “to cheat death is a power only one has achieved, but if we work together I know we can discover it”. He never once says “my master, Darth Plagueis” or anything really insinuating that.
