Anyone got any concerts lined up for 2024? I got tickets for Breaking Benjamin, Fall Out Boy, & Green Day! C'mon 2024!
I haven't bought anything yet, but I really want to go to the Alanis Morrisette/Joan Jett concert "Triple Moon" concert when they make the stop at Jones Beach on Long Island next July. I've seen JJ three times between 2021 and 2022, but have never seen Alanis Morrisette. My brother, in New York from Wisconsin this week, just went to the KISS concert at MSG on Saturday night. He had a good time; not the original crew without Ace Freely but they still continue to do all schticks they always have done. I saw them well over a decade ago at an outdoor concert at Jones Beach (with my brother) when they were on tour with Aerosmith. That was pretty wild.
For next year, I currently have Rolling Stones tickets, and I will confirm for Iron Maiden as well. I haven't booked it, but looking at Vegas trip for B-52s and Scorpions
@Lowbacca_1977 I saw the Stones back in'21. We were the first concert after Charlie's passing. They did an amazing job. You are gonna have a blast!
This is good to hear. Stones very much felt like one worth checking out even though I'm not big on em.
The Stones are one of the greatest bands of all time, defiantly worth seeing. I got tickets for Aerosmith, if they ever reschedule. I was lucky enough to have seen them last year.
First concert of 2024 on Thursday, Three Dog Night was in town so we took my mom for her birthday. Pretty good show, played pretty much all of their many hits and since they are old we were home a little after 10pm lol.
Bumping this back up since I'm back at shows for the first time in a while. Earlier this month was Cruel World Fest capped off by Blondie and Duran Duran, and then tonight was Battle Beast, which was not just awesome but also included them playing Can You Feel the Love Tonight and a bit of Star Wars
Nice! I was supposed to be going to a concert in Houston today before I got COVID But I was able to get tickets to see the same band in Chicago in a few weeks... Hopefully I'm good by then! It's Tomorrow x Together, who are BTS' little brothers at their company basically.
Awesome! My wife and kid will be there, along with some of my “honorary kids.” I’m stoked that the kiddo and I are seeing Khruangbin in Saint Louis in October, and found out that I was already a fan of their opening act, Arooj Aftab! Also, my workplace puts on their own summer concert series, and I just found out that they’re bringing in Tank and the Bangas for Juneteenth as part of that series! Khruangbin: Arooj Aftab: Tank and the Bangas:
I haven't bought tickets yet, but I put in for a lottery through my employer for a pair of ticket to see Alanis Morrisette, Joan Jett, and Morgan Wade at Jones Beach during the second week of July. Since it's a lottery, there's no guarantee of course that I would get them, so I'm seriously leaning towards buying them outright anyway. I really want to see this concert.
That sounds fun, @Ahsoka's Tano! I hope you score some tickets! So Fall Out Boy as an impressive show! Just a total blast, and I enjoyed Jimmy Eat World as well. A few weeks ago, a surprise concert showed up and I went to it. Gavin DeGraw, came close to home and tickets were cheap. Ironic that I had just finished my re-watch of One Tree Hill.
This past weekend the fam and I went down to St. Louis for Hootie and the Blowfish with Collective Soul and Edwin McCain. Was most excited for Collective Soul as I had never seen them before and always wanted to - happy to say they were great. Hootie has been great both times I've seen them but I was surprised at what a good opener Edwin McCain was. Other than getting poured on for about 5 minutes shortly before the show started (outdoor venue and the rain came out of nowhere and then was gone as quickly as it came) it was a great night.
I went to see Dead & Company at the Las Vegas Sphere last night. It wasn't that I was a GD/D&C fan at all (I couldn't name any of their songs off the top of my head), but I really wanted to experience the visuals inside the relatively new complex. I didn't stay for the entire show (it was over four hours long) because I wanted to get back to my hotel (Planet Hollywood) at a reasonable time because I had to get up early the next morning for my flight home. The visuals were pretty amazing. I posted some pics and video (with Google links) in my Concert Archives page. The only songs that I did recognize were those from other groups, including Good Lovin (The Rascals) and Dear Prudence (The Beatles). But the Deadheads in the audience jumped out of their seats for pretty much each song, so more power to them.
Just thought I'd share an image that I took from my seat at the Dead & Company show at The Sphere last Friday night. My initial take is that it's a great venue for concerts IMO; but the concessions leave much to be desired. There was only one concession stand on my floor (the 300s) that featured any available hot foods. The rest only had beverages and candy.
that looks absolutely amazing i think i would have intense sensory overload in that sphere, but it's wonderful to enjoy on youtube and second-hand.
Well the "sensory overload" concern was among the main reasons as to why I left the concert about a half hour early to catch an Uber back to my hotel. I needed to wake up early the next morning for my flight home, so I gave myself some leeway. It took me only about 15 minutes to get back to my hotel; whereas if I went the same route that I took to get to the Sphere (from Planet Hollywood) I'd probably have gotten there about 45 minutes to an hour later.
Seeing this thread still getting updates reminded me of how long it's been since I've really gone to concerts. I'm impressed that some of you still find the time and energy, haha. My kids aren't as into music as I was at their age, and more often we're at soccer games when it comes to "live entertainment". I also just can't muster the enthusiasm to go to concerts anymore, even though I still love listening to music. I also used to play the drums, and I still have them, but it's been many years since I did that with a band. My list from before is below and is still mostly accurate. I think maybe the last real concert was when my wife and I went to see the Buena Vista Social Club about ten years ago. And the last time I saw Helmet (which I mention since they're the band I've seen live the most number of times) was in 2004. Time flies.
I do still love concerts for sure. But I also don't have kids. Next concert right now is Psycho with live orchestra playing the score at the KC Symphony! My fav movie! Then the next week is Epik High, a Korean hip hop group who just celebrated 20 years. I was shocked happily that they're actually coming to KC.
The wife and I are seeing Janet Jackson in Hershey (PA) on July 6th and then Dave Matthews in Camden (NJ) on July 20th.
Upcoming Tours I'm Going To: - Chicago/Earth, Wind, & Fire - Green Day/Smashing Pumpkins/Rancid/The Linda Lindas - KC & The Sunshine Band - ELO - Aerosmith
