Exactly. How can you describe the current show as "not dark" considering that already three Jedi met their gruesome deaths and Mae's and Osha's childhoods were brutally destroyed? So far, nothing optimistic has happened in the show. And, please, Russian Doll had roughly the same balance of darkness and humor.

Bortles? He (she?) sounds like a PG Wodehouse character.

Please don't give any spotlight to that small minority which says such things.

Their is valid criticism for The Acolyte and the majority of people whom have complaints about this series are not racist/sexist. Similar to how the majority of people whom had complaints about the ST also do not have that ideology. Of course these facts didn't prevents criticism from sometimes being all lumped together as "Haters/Bigots". History is repeating with the Acolyte.

I think that's the majority. It is enough to see what their main problems are with the show. Fortunately, there is no such voice here, but it is the minority on the Internet.

Plenty of shows that have diversity succeed in being popular (especially with the internet crowd) and also having great quality.. From House of The Dragon, The Last of Us, Fallout, Andor of course.....etc.....

If this show declines in viewers and once its finished seen as "decant/meh" or put in the pen with "Book of Boba Fett", it sure won't be because of haters/bigots online. But I'm certain haters/bigots will be used as a "scapegoat" for why the show is not as popular as it "should be". It sure is easier for makers of mediocre shows to do so then admit their own failures.

In general, the "hate campaigns" tend to be a sympton of a poor/divisive reception (not the cause). Bigots will exist on all fandoms, but they won't make much of a fuss if the new story is pretty popular and beloved.

These bigots are like bullies. They won't attack a really popular and strong movie/TV series (in those cases, they retreat to their personal holes). Instead, they attack weak or divisive movies/TV series.

"House of the Dragon" and "Rings of Power" made exactly the same thing about adding black characters. There were complaints from bigots in both cases, but the "hate campaign" was only big on "Rings of Power".

PS: Studios definitely want to use racism as defense of any criticism.

Same here. Considering what we've seen so far in any series, never once have I thought to myself "you know, I wish the fight scenes were bloodier, or at least showed limbs being dismembered!" or "you know I think that dialogue would've been SO much more moving if it were full of cuss words!" I mean - with all due respect to artistic approach and all, I've never seen the NEED for such things that garner an R rating to be included in Star Wars. IMO the GFFA is entertaining enough without it.

I like that we're seeing more different Jedi for one thing. One of the issues I've had before with SW productions-especially ones involving Jedi-is that there's a serious lack of non-human main characters. That's definitely not the case with Acolyte, so that's great! I will say the efforts for diversity in this series are indeed VERY obvious-as I have been hard pressed to see more than one or two background-relegated white persons in the show so far-but again, that doesn't really bother me cos IMO it's a wide galaxy, and I like the idea that there's all kinds of different beings and backgrounds being shown. I'd say this is the only production that most aptly portrays the "wide and diverse galaxy" idea.

I have thoroughly enjoyed Acolyte so far. I AM somewhat sad to see characters I was looking forward to be killed off so quickly as more or less nothing more than a plot device (i.e. I was hoping to see more from a Wookiee Jedi!)...but the overall story is interesting! I like the whole twins concept, their origin and struggle between each other. It's also great to see the high republic era Jedi portrayed onscreen for the first time! The main villain does look a little much like Kylo Ren...but I am still very curious to see what/who they are. And I'm trying really hard to not get my hopes up about any Darth Tenebrous/Darth Plagueis possibilities, and just go into it open-mindedly.

Is it my favorite SW series? No. At least not yet-I'll admit since we're only halfway thru, that may change. Ahsoka and Kenobi are still at the top for me, but this is close! I guess it just really depends on one's particular interest. Ahsoka will attract TCW and Rebels fans (like myself), Kenobi will attract PT fans (again like myself), Andor will attract fans of grittier, 'spy thriller' type material...I guess we will see with Acolyte!

You know thats a joke, right? Everyone kinda figures Qimir is the Sith so they're calling him Darth Bortles in reference to a catchphrase said by Manny Jacinto in another series.

    Like calling Dooku Darth Dracula

I wasn't sure, so I asked. I didn't watch The Good Place. From past experience, it could've been legit. So thanks for clearing that up. I live by the rule, there are no stupid questions, but I've been known to come close.

I feel like if it’s revealed that Qimir is indeed the Sith/Master, my liking for the show will go out the window

Why, though? There were so many clues since his first appearance. Its a Sith secretly keeping tabs on their apprentice. He's constantly giving Mae advice, tips, helping her out and guiding her on her quest to kill the Jedi. He told her how to get through Torbin's defenses, helped her escape the Jedi after that, guided her to Kelnacca on Khofar...

In ep 2 he knew the Sith Code and dodged Mae's surprise attack from behind his back, then quickly overpowered her. She being a Force user hunting Jedi Masters and him being just a "former smuggler". In Ep4 when the Jedi reached the location he fell into Mae's trap, he was no longer there. And then he is conveniently off-screen and the Sith shows up

I think its pretty in-your-face that he is the masked Sith. I suppose the twist will be that he is actually the Sith Apprentice and the mystery will be who is the Sith Master. The director did say before the show aired that the Acolyte was the apprentice to the Sith Apprentice. Like Ventress was to Dooku.

I will say the leak about
Qimir being the Master has taken something from my enjoyment of the show. I enjoyed discussions about who Marrok might be, etc. Finding out about Qimir, from this particular, and not fan speculation, just felt dirty.

    It has never been revealed
that he is the Sith master.

    The leak just shows
Jacinto in the Darth Smiley armor. He could just be the apprentice, not the master.
