I still think this could be good, but I have a feeling online nerd media will tear it to shreds, those shots of suburban-looking houses from the trailer are kind of asking for it. Hopefully they will have long episodes, I think the 20-30min episode format has been very detrimental to the shows where they’ve done that.

 

They really need to end this 30-minute episode nonsense that’s clearly a result of some kind of “TV episodes in the TikTok era” focus group or something.

 

True, but most of those show were procedural in nature; whereas although formulaic, they were more or less self contained episodes that were even scripted in a way to allow for mini-cliff hangers before commercial breaks. A lot of Disney SW shows seem to view like a film (or in Andor's case, a series of films) that's been randomly chopped up into a series of episodes. It can result in a frustrating viewing experience.

I don't think it's the result of the TikTok short attention span thing, I think it's just the result of a bad DLFL decision. I believe it was KK who said in an interview a while back that SW is more about "persistent storytelling" now, so you've got these long-form shows basically that have to be divided up to fill an episode count. It seems to be a model that's not working out for them too well, but they seem to be pulling back on shows now so maybe they're rethinking things in terms of storytelling too.

 

What don't they tear to shreds and it doesn't matter whether it's good or bad.

The show definitely commits to being very 80s/early 90s. I particularly like how while most of the pirate characters are doing the classic pirate getups in space, Gunther is a cyborg right out of the Space Pirates lightgun game or Eliminators or something.

And yeah, should be interesting to see more of pirates in this period, especially if it is the Pirate Nation mentioned in the Mandalorian.

This is like one of those games you play where you have to guess if something is true or not, and the answer you don’t expect to be true turns out to actually be the true one.

Don’t get me wrong, this is a great opportunity for Jaleel. And he’ll definitely get a lot of support from everybody. I hope he kills it in the role and it gives him more acting opportunities. But it is one of those headlines……that I guess kind of makes sense in our current timeline.

 

I like the 18th-century-flintlock-pistol looking blasters that Jude Law and the Werewolf guy have. The design is a bit on the nose for pirates but I'll give that a pass cause they look cool.

 

And when it does, will he say, "Did I do that?"

 

Looks a bit different from the usual rebels vs empire vs Jedi fare, then agin that’s probably a good thing.

Hyped for new space pirates, especially the Gran dude.

 

That kinda looks like the shirt Lando wore in Empire...... maybe from the same production batch. The trim is a bit thinner, but maybe it shrunk in the dryer.

 

That 2nd image isn't real. Not saying it hasn't come from a certified source... but that is obviously photoshopped to death.

 

Sounds like from recent interviews, Jod will be a different kind of jedi. Like a pirate jedi?

Kinda strange, considering Filoni's notorious attitude to wolves, that it is the first screen appearance of Shistavanen since Tartakovsky's Clone Wars, in a series in which Dave is not a writer.

 

He probably thinks Wolfman guy isn't as dramatically pure as a regular Wolf. They're freaks!

 

And as a nod to American Graffiti, Wolfman guy's voice will sound like the DJ.
