[Farnsworth] Good News Everyone! [/Farnsworth] Maestro John Williams isn’t retiring after all! And apparently we have Steven Spielberg to thank for it. Side note: I need to see the Fabelmans so I can listen to his newest score. Also proof: https://www.slashfilm.com/1166495/john-williams-isnt-retiring-from-film-scores-after-all/
It makes me wonder if John will ever fully retire. He'll probably go into a state of semi-retirement at some point (which he could be in right now) but never a full exit. More John Williams goodness is welcome as long as he keeps wanting to compose.
There was some very nice musical touches and themes in Indy 5. he definitely did not dial in the score.
I usually have the radio on in the background, tuned to the public classical music station. Every now and then they play some JW movie themes. I've heard Marian's Theme a couple times in the last month. Today they decided to play the Throne Room and End Titles music. Every time they do that, I start worrying that they're playing it because he died. Looks like we dodged the bullet again today.
I am glad he isn’t retiring. You know what they say. If you do something you love you’ll never work a day in your life. while that isn’t true because even some days what you love can be a slog the point is there is a reason some people continue to work until they die even when they have far more then enough money to retire. They enjoy it. I am glad we’ll get more of his music.
Does ANYONE has the Indy V Score CD? I dont find it anywhere and its not available in germany to buy. Maybe somebody has multiple copies and is willing to sell.
Not sure if anyone has listened to it or not, but I regularly listen to a podcast called The Soundtrack Show, they have broken down many of Williams scores with some really interesting analysis, in particular, Jaws, the OT, Raiders and Jurassic Park. But they also venture into other composers work too. The OT films for example are broken down in to roughly 4 parts per film and they do similar for the others too. Its well worth a listen.

Glad to hear, he was my age in the early 1960s... really puts things into perspective. This is one of my favourites
