FWIW and love him or hate him, Chris Gore of Film Threat has seen the first 3 episodes of SC and while he couldn't really say anything because of the review embargo he did say the show seems to be aimed at a young demographic, about 8 to 11 years old in his opinion. Which can be totally fine with me as long as they make it fun. The early Harry Potter books were aimed at a similar age range and I loved those books.

Well, that's a pleasant surprise. I had no idea that the premiere event is happening on a Monday instead of a Tuesday.

Tomorrow will be a long and exhausting day at work since our break was 5 days long, so it will be awesome to have something to come back to.

Can't wait for this show! Need something to rub off the disappointment and the bad taste in my mouth that the Acolyte left.

In preparation of tomorrow's two episode premier, my son and I watched The Goonies (haven't finished it yet). I hope we get a fun SW adventure to ride us through the holidays.
My prediction is still the kids will end up helping Ahsoka get back to the GFFA or help the Mandalorian in some capacity. Hope they find the treasure and get home. Also would like to see a good villian be introduced.
A few more hours! Didn't expect Warrick Davis to play Wicket again!

I haven't seen the first three episodes and am not under any embargo and I can confidently tell you exactly the same thing.

The social media "reviews" all seem unanimous in being encouraging that the vibe is a successful homage to "80's kids adventure films". I'm here for it.

I don't like following rules, so I am lifting the embargo NOW and will be reviewing the first two episodes:

    • Whoa, I did not expect the Sith to capture and clone Fern, much less to have Zach Galifianakis in a cameo role standing between the two Ferns.
    • Jude Law as Darth Plagueis is awesome. I knew they would bring him back at some point.
    • So the Ortolans started multiplying by uniting with Gamorreans and that's why Neel looks the way he does, cool.
    • I knew KB was going to be the most advanced droid we've ever seen. Reminded me of Mimic.
    • Certainly didn't expect them to have Slayer as the main song in the soundtrack, blew me away, how fitting
    • The fact that the kids get lightsabers so early in the show is really cool. The teal and the fuchsia lightsabers were my favorite.
    • Overall very solid start, though I am curious to see where the story goes now that Plagueis is dead already. I thought he was going to be the main antagonist? But also, why are the kids already back safe with their parents? Don't we have 6 more episodes to go?

According to slashfilm most of the early reactions seem to be positive, praising the Amblin like tone, and the fresh perspective of the series.

Unfortunately I’m seeing hints on X that the show is absolutely terrible.

Your first mistake was going on twitter. Your second mistake was trusting people on twitter. Now they may be right or wrong. But god are they usually wrong. Wisdom of the crowd my ass. your third mistake was calling it X. I’ll go to my grave never calling it that.

show might be terrible might not be. We’ll see in about an hour

I haven’t been on twitter in years. Is the home page of any account no longer in chronological order? Because that’s disgusting.

anyway it’s one person. I’m watching a Star Wars show regardless. Well soon know if it sucks

It’s entirely possible for this series to go completely off the rails, but Disney’s lack of faith in it seems totally unfounded so far. Enjoyed both episodes.

EDIT: Seems like most level headed people on Twitter (read: Eckhart’s Ladder) really like the first two episodes. If this show ends up being good this is going to be a huge blunder by Disney not marketing it…

Loved the show! Talk about fresh air.
Also — having watched the first two episode with kids — huge hit with that demographic.

This was a nice break away from a more well grounded GFFA but still feels like the same universe. Thats if they are in the same universe...

Yes it was a special event to watch with your kids as my son loved it as well. The beginning was a bit much but it was a well put together show and kid friendly overall.
The first episode was a terrific introduction and start with a lot of what was talked about before, the Amblin feel. Very well acted by the kids and the x factor for me was SM-33 who turned in a fine peformance. The only negative critique would be that they mentioned their hoke planet as having a history of buried treasure and to hear that so soon.

I like the overall vibe of the show, very Spielberg with the kids stuff and very Treasure Island/Planet and POTC with the pirate stuff. And my oh my some great species representation.

Just finished the first two episodes and really like what I see. Very much an 80s Speilberg film ET/Goonies vibe and the kids and their behavior and dialogue could have easily come from my own experiences at their age.

All that aside, there is a nice build up of the storyline in just these first two episodes that leaves you dangling on just enough of a hook to want more. Not only are these kids far from home but their home is a myth for who knows what reason. This is the kind of in depth stories I like and the believable dialogue and acting are the icing on the cake. I already can’t wait for the third installment next week.

It just came out. I thought it was fun. I didn’t go in with any expectations. Acting was pretty darn good for mostly being kids

To be fair, shows with just kids or focused around kids are usually good. Plus, you’re forgetting it had Ryan Kiera Armstrong in it.
