Another quality episode and more great exploring of this huge Galaxy. Another planet of pleasure and indulgence in the same vain as Canto Bight; but this time, it's a mud bath, Spa bath planet. My goodness, the majority of the Galaxy seems to have taken their fingers off the pulse since the fall of the Empire - particularly being totally oblivious to the fact that their are Imperial Remnants about. Or maybe it's the previous Imperial planets that help form the new Senate of the New Republic lying directly to the faces of the previous Rebellion planets in saying that the war is over and there's no need to worry anymore - whilst secretly channeling funds and sending people into hiding to help establish The First Order. From some points of view, Lucasfilm could be said to reflect on a number of real world similarities.

But I enjoyed this mud bath planet and the Hutt getting its beauty treatment. Gonna need a few more of those baths though.

Also enjoyed the continuation of the narrative. Really love KB's character. Calm, collected and always intelligent in all situations. Everyone else is in a panic, but she takes her time to look around, up and down to find the answers.

Just one missed opportunity though. When I saw the slash through the pillar, I automatically knew that was from a lightsaber. And when it was found in that treasure room, I nodded in confirmation. Now this could have easily been scavenged, stolen, plundered, purchased, etc from anywhere. Jedi deaths have occurred throughout the Galaxy for millennia and this would have meant numerous lightsabers would have been lost. But when that blade ignited, I was pleading so hard towards the TV for its colour to be Red.

This for me was a missed opportunity in it being blue because it was the perfect set up moment to introduce another narrative of some Sith Lord of the past - which could have had implications down the track for other movies or shows.

There's no worse name than Dexter Jettster

Anyway. I loved the subtle Jedi teachings when Jod was consoling Wim about his parents, and about giving up attachments.to the things you love lol.

That moment had an master and apprentice feel to it. Although Jod hasn't taken anytime to train him.
Generational fan said "Lucasfilm could be said to reflect on a number of real world similarities".

They always do. They've taken the Wars from our world and translated them along with historical significant events into the GFFA.
And what I'm thinking you're implying here is the cover up of billions of our tax dollars that congress can't account for! Yet we see million dollar drones flying in our skies monitoring us.
So in this instance, the FO will be built off this plot device smuggling funds under Mon Mothma's nose.

Excellent episode. It has basically surpassed its source inspiration (the Goonies) at this point as a childhood action adventure story for me. There’s just enough other influences mixed into the blender to completely elevate the work. At times I am reminded of Indiana Jones / Never Ending Story / Labyrinth, among many others. Often with a smirk on my face. I find myself looking to see my kid’s reactions to moments regularly. I’m curious how it is landing for them when a beat is familiar to me but perhaps not them.

This week’s super wealthy but bored Squid alien character, who just wants to be entertained and hear a good story, was another inspired addition in atmosphere.

Loved the traps. Loved the inevitable double cross and tone. Jude Law continues to be a wonderful resource in this role. He’s charming and selfish and expressive in all the ways this role demands. I’m also glad the double cross happened here at episode 5 rather than the finale. The saber moments were a great touch. I especially liked the backfire from the kid. For a moment I thought he seriously injured his foot!

Didn’t see who directed this one but it was very polished with that same Spielberg-like precision where every shot decision being made feels like it is happening with a clear purpose following deep contemplation not only about what shots would look good in the moment and convey the best balance of atmosphere and emotion but also work in conjunction with all other shots within the scene to flow well. Spielberg was/is a master of that and this series regularly does it well also. It’s understanding of time and space and a commitment to storyboading refinement to get it right before the editing room.

There’s a craftsmanship to the filmmaking that is simultaneously economical and to the point but also beautiful and energetic and expressive. Zemeckis and Spielberg and Ron Howard all film this way. JJ Abrams also. The first 2 episodes and this one had that same feel.

It was not only funny, it also raised a new mystery, because the Troglof says “please, not again.” So the Hutt seems to eat him and then spit him out? From what end? A question for another time.

I’m slightly hesitant to do this, but I have to give this episode a 10. It was the best live-action Star Wars I’ve seen in awhile, and everything worked very well for me. The visual effects, the action, the comedy, the character moments, the tension at the end, it was all perfect. Most of all it’s Jude Law in a fantastic role. He’s charming yet sinister. Clever but impatient. Fatherly but mysterious too, the best “scoundrel” character since Han and Lando. When he grabs the lightsaber and it cuts to black, goosebumps.

This show has been everything I could have wanted from Star Wars Christmas, 10/10.

I gave this episode a 10 as well. This series is fabulous, and I have every expectation that it won't go the way of The Acolyte. I came back to SW fandom after watching The Mandolorian, but SC has brought back the joy of just being a fan. The Goonies never did it for me. Wasn't looking forward to Goonies in space. This is so much more; it's tapped into something I thought I'd never have again. From kids getting in gun turrets, to Wim igniting the light saber upside down, to Jod being an unpredictable scoundrel, I'm so very hooked.

Dooku. Still the worst of all SW names, now and forevermore.

I hope, anyway. Hey LFL, if you're reading this, it's not a challenge or a dare. You don't have to come up with worse names. Please don't.

Strong 9 for me. Loved it. One point off because for a second it reminded me of the Mando Jack Black episode. But that quickly passed. I’m just really loving this show. It’s fun and I want to see 12 seasons of it.
No matter what positions we take on Star Wars in the future, I can at least rest assured that Sarge passionately hates the name Dooku as much as I do.

Really good episode. Jods turn was foreshadowed in a sense but still came as a shock. The new planet was wonderfull tjough it did have bad security considering there was a Banking Clan summit going on there. The ruin was intriguing but it did seem pretty old so I kind of doubt that Rennod is still around unless he is either a droid (very unlikely) or a member of a long lived species. The question for whom at At Attin is minting is intriguing and I'm looking forward to see this mystery play out.

    9/10 from me.

I think if they tried to shoehorn in a "big name" then it would't have worked as well.

There was a moment in trailer where pirates faced X-wings on this planet. NR responds surprisingly promptly in this series.

I imagine it has to do with these planets being part of the NR core? Or at least, they are heavily inhabited regions that are simply better-policed.

More likely as soon as they realized there was a pirate attack the resort cried for help and since they were not a poor trading outpost like Nevarro the NR came running

I hope there's an epic battle between pirates and the rootinest-tootinest gold miners the galaxy has ever seen. They'll be like a band of Aatami Korpis (the man in Sisu), who refuse to have their hard work plundered by pirates.

The next episode could start off on the pirates' side of the door, at the bottom of the steps, and they can hear Jod order SM-33 to refill the acid pit. We then watch a very meek dribble of acid come out of a pipe, and the group of pirates immediately kick into foley mode. One person makes the sound of rushing acid, others scream in agony, and then another silently motions his hand across his neck to signal them to be silent.

Final Order? It must have been expensive to build all those big ships at Exegol.

Pardon me. I forgot the animated stuff. Kevin McKidd is of course a voice in Rebels, so we’ve got three Trainspotting cast members in Star Wars.

Honestly, the "threatening a kid scene" really wrecked whatever sympathy I had for Jod.

    Hmmm

Tbh, this is Star Wars and everyone gets redeemed eventually, though they're pulling that card too much as of late.

I watched this a second time and enjoyed the episode even more.

Is Jod’s villian turn for real or was he making a play to help protect the kids anticipating the pirates would overtake them before they reach the ship? We’ll find out next week I guess.

He did try to give her multiple chances to just yield.

This is my theory. He was trying to take charge of the situation...and SM-33...to deal with the pirates.

How amazing was that bit, “Do you have access to this facility also?”

    (Droid confirms)

    “Activate acid again”

    (Screams are heard)

I’m paraphrasing but just amazingly dark and clever use of sound for a family show. We see absolutely nothing. There’s no gore. We don’t know for certain what happened and that’s what’s so great about it.

I don't know a lot about old sith temples, could the booby traps have already been there and Rennod just made use of them? I mean an old sith temple probably would make a great pirate lair
