Well, with OSHA being targeted now, I think we should remove all railings - starting with the White House and Air Force One and then Congress. Let's see how the felon handles stairs then.

Democrats don't need to be authoritarians but they DO need to be twenty times more aggressive rhetorically in dealing with Republicans. Democrats need to be calling out all the Republicans' abuses of power, their lies, and all the ways they're screwing over ordinary Americans to line the pockets of their donors. All of this is perfectly constitutional.

 

Not just rhetorically. Legally, procedurally, votingly (making that a word), and even physically (physically blocking DOGE access to department buildings for example), they need to be opposing every single thing the Administration does. No collaboration on anything. Not one thing.

 

I’ve said this more than a few times since Trump was first elected in 2016, and underlining it now… we need to push The States, especially the Blue States, to pass as much of the Democratic Platform at the state-level (and in red/purple states, at the county or municipal level in particular too) as soon as possible. And while we’re at it, anything we currently like the federal government doing, that’s not part of the platform’s advocacy… create that at the state level too. Wherever feasible, and lean towards something being feasible than it not being so.
State-level CDC at same quality as the federal with the state-level departments of health, amp up state-level departments of education and state-level departments of environmental management and state-level departments of housing/transportation/justice/treasury/etc. Are there things that can be done at the state-level to offset tariffs? Consider what it would take for a state to put in place its own state-run Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid/SinglePayer, just to see what it would take. At least they’re starting to look at immigration protocols at the state level in the blue states, but it’s not enough and too slow.



In other news:
* DoJ officials say they’re putting a pause or some “restrictions” on Musk’s control/monitoring of Treasury Department payments. What that means in practice, who knows.
* Department of Education leaders tell their employees in an all-staff call that they’ve looked at the legal paperwork of the buyout, and it can apparently be revoked at any time after any time after signing it, with no legal recourse.

Except we have Vance and Musk talking about increasing birth rates, complaining about childless cat ladies, etc.
I think they just wanted to end and retract all science/medical publications, completely, from the federal government.

 

So...Trump plans to take over Gaza without U.S. troops. How would that work? None of this is based in reality. I guess it's just one more thing largely created to get a rise out of the libs?

Trump says the Gaza thing will work by Israel handing it over, and Gaza becoming an official territory like how Guam or Puerto Rico currently are.

Israel has ordered its military to develop plan to evict Palestinians before the territory is handed over.

Also the U.S. is now sanctioning the ICC.

 

This is how pathetic our politics have gotten. Our greatest defense against the spread of fascism in our country is... a steep set of stairs.

@The Regular Mustache Think someone whispered in his ear that the allies in the region and where everywhere think it's a really stupid idea (on top of being evil), and a bunch of Republicans think it's utterly crazy and stupid. Ultimately, OPEC can just turn the spigot off more as they can cut oil output even more, and Trump, along with his cronies, can stomp their feet, kick, scream, and throw temper tantrums to their blue in the face about how "we need to become oil-dependent" but doesn't matter. We are technically oil dependent, but it doesn't mean that if less oil is produced worldwide, our prices won't go up. They will, especially since more countries are becoming less dependent on oil while we are becoming more again because Trump thinks it's the 1950s still.

Just remember, this is Week #3, not Year #3. That mashed potato brain of his is just going to get worse. Way worse.

And while a lot of what he does is kabuki theater or really the ramblings of his pathetic old man (except his cruelty towards basically anyone who isn't white christian nationalists), what Musk is doing isn't. And the more that Trump fades into the background, the more that Nazi is going to try and truly become president. But good luck getting the Democrats to stop it. They cannot even figure out what to order for dinner when they are trying to stall on Trump's nominees.

 

The entire Democratic party (aside from AOC and maybe one or two others) acting like a deer in headlights is truly a sight to behold. They're useless.
