Also Dr. Connor (lizzard) is a black woman now.
Let's hope it's not just for shock value, but i think it's naive to believe that the "fandom menace" won't show their ugly head bitching about it,

I can be hesitant, but the main for me is: if the character's race/gender/whatever is important to their character and story, then it shouldn't be changed. If it isn't, some are more surprising than others, but I'm fine with.

But central to Doctor Connors' story is losing their arm (or having some kind of disability that they think reptillian DNA could cure), having a partner, and having a kid... if they change those 3 things then that's what I'd be upset about.

Anthony Mackie had some bad PR the past few days as well, Marvel needs to stop putting microphones in actors faces unless they're RDJ who is a PR genius.

I watched the first episode and thought it was great, it has that moving comic book feel like Spider-Verse, but if that feels more like 80s to modern style, FNSM looks like Ditko and Romita but the animation is very fluid, and there's a lot of neat details in the designs, Peter's v1 suit is sweet. Lots of fun bits of performance and animation flourishes, the high school interaction is breezy enjoyable. It doesn't seem that much like the MCU until the very end

it twists Peter's Civil War introduction instead of Tony Stark for Norman Osborn.

As for the alternate universe Dr. Strange, symbiote monster Spider introduction, it is kinda like a moment of fate on the web of life and destiny. Also it's somewhat similar to New Ultimate Spider-Man in universe 6160 where the spider is sent by Tony Stark, so it is a canon event that is always supposed to happen. We will see if it becomes bigger

Anyway longer version of the theme song, the Spider-Man 67 theme remixes remain evergreen!

Any excuse to post Start A Band again for 67 theme

Other than a couple of weird choices with Spidey's origin, the first 2 episodes were pretty good!

I think so too, though maybe the voice actor comments really lowered my expectations. But I like it. And I’m glad
… that at least one aspect of Peter’s life now knows he’s Spider-man. But of course it’s Norman Osborn, and I actually thought he already knew when he showed up at his apartment and then that none of the other interns were asked to go to his office.

Nico should be a little more understanding that a paid internship is more important than a football game, or the party, especially since it seems Nico doesn’t really like either anyways. Lonnie Lincoln… oh I’m sad where they’ll go with that.

Mostly new characters for the high school was refreshing. I thought Pearl would be Liz Allen and Lonnie would be Flash Thompson.

I like the idea of Spider-man wanting to show mercy to some criminals, and asking the shopkeeper if they really want to call the cops.
And also the unsafe neighborhood and implied racism in Lonnie’s story.

I wonder what the implications of Uncle Ben dying at least a few months before Peter getting bit will be. Are they just experimenting with guilt not being one of the main factors to spark the crime fighting, and it being more innate? Did Peter, in a very different context than the wrestling match, still fail to help stop a criminal when he could have, even before he got his powers?

My favourite bit in episode 2
Parker chanting "Peter! Peter!" Holding the trophy. All Peter saying he likes watching fire burn as a really bad misdirect

And Norman figuring out he's Spider-Man in episode 2 is a bit of a thing. Now I know they'll probably slow roll the Green Goblin (if they get to it at all, Norman is good now in the 616 comics, go figure) but I really want to hear Colman Domingo Green Goblin

As we have been seeing for past 25 years, race and gender swaps happen in the Multiverse. Jimmy Olsen, Perry White, Lois Lane, Lana Lang, Jim Gordon, Lex Luthor, Mercy Graves, Mirror Master/Mistress, Kid Flash, Martian Manhunter, Miss Martian, Hiemdal, Flash Thompson, Loki/Sylvie, Scorpion, Liz Allan, Ned Leeds, Wilson Fisk and Bolivar Trask. Lesser degree with Michelle Jones/Mary Jane Watson. Hell, Agent J counts as well.

But people have been having fits because it was not that way in the comics and that they should use someone else.

There is a fair argument to be made that writers should be spending more time creating new diverse characters that people will be interested in (like Miles Morales & Kamala Khan) instead of just changing long established characters because it makes them feel like they're being inclusive.

But the multiverse does allow for some flexibility.
After all, Peter Parker was The Lizard in Across the Spider-Verse and nobody said anything. Nobody cared that Hugh Jackman was too tall to play comic accurate Wolverine, because he captured the right essence of the character so it could be overlooked just like Sam Jackson playing Nick Fury.

13 minute Clone Saga recap, probably missing a bunch but still a neat recap of a weird period (I think I bailed halfway through myself). Still think there could be a condensed version for a movie somewhere!

It's less about inclusiveness and more about hiring the right actor to play a role. Michael Clarke Duncan was chosen because of his acting abilities and size. Just as Vincent D'onofrio. Jeffrey Wright is as good as Gary Oldman. The Multiverse just allows for it.

For some fans, they want accuracy to a ridiculous degree. They hated Grant Gustin because he was not a blonde, more than his acting or the quality of the show. They want a 5'3" Wolverine even though he doesn't look it in the comics a lot of the time.

The next 3 episodes were great too. I love the visual style of the moving comic which I would call "Spider-Verse But Make It Ditko"

the whole bit about Spidey trying different outfits with Norman was fantastic, lost red balloon kid (which felt like a shout out to the PS2 / Gamecube era game) crying at the scary Spider-Man outfit was hilarious. Also we get a notion of this strand of the Arachno Humanoid Poly Multiverse being close to the MCU as Civil War is currently happening (which leads to Norman saying he can take care of registration with Peter and it can be the reason why the Avengers aren't showing up, they're busy Civil War ing). Got Scorpion and Doc Ock already and I really wasn't sure what was going on with Lonnie Lincoln plot until like the very last line with his gang name "Tombstone" Oh, duh! Now I'm invested!

Politely waiting for the Daredevil episode of YFNHSM (next week) because Paolo Rivera did the DD design (that's his square-jawed DD to a t) and Charlie Cox is voicing Matt/DD. So a nice tease before things get serious Milky Way Dark in Daredevil Born Again.

I really like Leo Romero's Ditko-style character designs and that the show is a wink to Ditko's wonderful style; but I'm just not interested in Spider-Man enough to want to watch every single episode. I tapped out during Episode 1.

Loved seeing him. Makes me really want a DD animated series with several comic artists drawing Matt & DD, his friends, and foes. A different style for each episode (and yes, give Paolo Rivera his flowers for his wonderful square jawed DD making it to animated status. It was so cool seeing Paolo's design come to life.

    Dahhhh! Next season [face_dancing]

    Finale was cool
Did not see Doctor Strange and symbiote monster and Spider made from Spider-Man falling through a time portal and biting Peter in the past to create Spider-Man but that was interesting. Also Richard Parker is alive and the actor providing the voice is Josh Keaton of Spectacular Spider-Man awesome

I appreciated the release schedule where we got multiple episodes a week. I thought the series started strong then it hit a little lull, then picked back up in the end.

    They are
going to give Tombstone his Grey look right, his hands looked like they were getting little Grey patches
As for Gwen I would be okay if she originated in the FNSM universe but considering the universe jumping time travel stuff that happened in the finale she might be a multiverse transplant. Still, yay Gwen!

    That would be my assumption.

I didn't know we were definitely getting a season 2 so that's good especially since they set up a lot of threads.

The finale was nice, and so is the reveal of the time loop, along with the truly-classic costume.

I'm glad they showed restraint on Osborn, Octavius, Venom, and Connors. I saw Max Dillon and Ned Leeds on Harry's list, as one of the teasers for next season.

The Tombstone story is definitely getting stretched-out even more, it's an interesting antihero parallel story to Peter's

Is Nico supposed to be/become... Black Cat? Or someone else, or someone new? I thought the gem was more about luck, and maybe it is, but they seem to be going in another direction too. I don't know where they're going with this storyline... or with Peter's dad.

In the comics she's a sorceress who mostly goes by her own name, though she did briefly adopt the moniker Sister Grimm.
