Schauffele riding a heater after The Open. Interesting to see if he can carry this into the FedEx Cup too. Although I'd argue with the number of points Scheffler has earned this year, he should get to start at -15 for The Tour Championship.
rahm with a four stroke lead at the 10th hole and ending up with no medal at all is pretty remarkable/wonderful. congrats to scottie.
I wasn't paying rapt attention...but from what I saw, the US really were in control from about midway on Saturday. The broadcasters really tried to push drama based on the comeback on Friday by the International team...but the early 4balls were pretty one-sided and it was just a matter of time from there. So with no real drama, it was just chill-to-boring until the clincher.
This TGL is the dumbest thing ever. Exactly what people have been clamoring for: golf in a warehouse. Seeing a course is one of the highlights of watching golf (case in point, the West Coast swing coming up). It is possible for a show to get cancelled mid-broadcast?
lovely cover. pga 2k23 turned out to be more enjoyable than ea's pga tour game, so i'm looking forward to this. i'm sure the menus and multiplayer will be a microtransaction-ridden standard offering from 2k, but if they can upgrade the visuals and career mode a good bit from 2k23, keep the actual gameplay essentially the same, and continue to allow user-created courses (ea's big omission, a mistake borne out of their greed), this should be a fun golf game.
LIV moving up with a deal with Fox for broadcast rights now. Hopefully they can fix the graphics package during rounds, there's just too much going on. Seems like the same team is coming over, David Feherty is always great. Hopefully Fox doesn't revert back to the awfulness of the 2015 US Open, the low water mark for sports broadcasting.
that terrible leaderboard on the left side of the screen was the first thing i thought of, too. cw may not have had the standing to tell them to fix that, but i hope fox doesn't allow it. also, i hope they cut out the eurobeats on repeat in the background. that's distracting.
i’m enjoying tgl through three weeks. know the pga tour has a stake in it, but hopefully they can figure out a way to include some of the liv guys in next season. make it feel more like a competition. the technology is fascinating, too.
Nothing like watching the west coast swing especially when they are at Pebble Beach as I look outside our family room sliding door to see our backyard and see dead winter grass with a tiny bit of snow and it felt like it's been dark all day. That is something LIV and now TGL has not figure out. The courses themselves including where they are located it's a big part of the show especially when they are in a classic venue like Pebble Beach, Augusta, Riviera, Pinehurst etc. That is part of the reason why I'm not a huge fan of the Florida/Texas swing. I don't find the courses and where they are located all that great compare to other spots. Plus it's March and I'm gearing up for March Madness for my sports fix beyond what is going on with their lives including spring break.
usga just announced that they're giving one us open exemption per year to a liv golfer. must be top three in points on the current season. don't know if the pga/liv merger as it was proposed a few years ago will ever happen, but the line between liv golf and everyone else is eroding - saudi sportswashing is clearly working, and the plf's involvement in many sports is becoming more accepted as mainstream. i'd expect saudi ownership in the nba/nfl pretty soon, which may be their last hurdle to clear.
Thank goodness for the WM just because there is something else to watch other then hours of meaningless Super Bowl coverage and irrelevant college basketball games (I don't pay attention until the weekend of the conference tournament championships) while the NHL and NBA are in their dog days (though I don't pay much attention to either anyway) so at least there is this.
I don't know if they'll be able to replicate the build up to the Ryder Cup in season two, but I'll be interested in seeing how much they have local Pittsburgh legend Neal Shipley on it. Also, how the hell is Joel Dahmen still on this? He had to of lost his Tour card last year.
At this point the only golfing he should be doing is the honorary start at the Masters and the PNC Championship. Competitive (yes, I'll include the warehouse video game in that) golf is done for him.
